+1
Getting there is so cheap/easy and getting home is better too (bloor bus runs much more frequently than the queen street car)

Best club I've ever been to in Toronto. If tonight is an indication of what's to come, this city has a bright bright future.

Great setup with a solid dance floor; such full, beautiful sound and far from overwhelmingly loud--no earplugs necessary; well-lit and brighter than any other club I can think of: you get to see people's faces, which I think is nice; cool blue LED lights on the ceiling with small red spotlights throughout; bathroom was pretty nice; coat check quick; no need to wait in line with a ticket. They sold a perfect amount of tickets: the place was full but there was room to dance. And the vibe was so peaceful, so friendly. I didn't notice any pushing at all. The vibe seemed to be verging on a Burner/Zen-like feel, but perhaps that's just my perspective? Tonight at Coda was a spiritual experience. And the MUSIC!! We showed up at 1:00am thinking that's when Art Department would come on, but to our fortune, Ame seemed to just be getting started. Holy fuck balls, he played an amazing set! And then Johnny and Kenny came on and delivered with the wondrous brilliance that they always do. Pure musical magic.

Prior to going, I trusted that Johnny and the Footwork team would include everything needed for a club, and their attention to detail is going to pay dividends. I imagine they'll get a a fan or air conditioning system in there soon, since it was toasty even in a tank top. But hey, dancing and pouring sweat is a great experience, so even without the fans, I give this inaugural session a 10/10.

Thank you Art Department, Ame and Coda

I'm gonna assume the club was oversold cuz the coatcheck nightmare after 12:15'ish was inexcusable. Coatcheck was completely full until 3:30 or so, so I had to carry around my jacket until then. Washroom is too small as well.

LED lighting was pretty good..i liked how the lights in general synced to the music. I still felt I needed earplugs tho at times, so I wouldn't say the sound is perfect but I did get more of a surround effect which was great.

Quick notes about the music...Ame played good. He had some really great atmospheric tracks and had an overall progression with his music. I felt AD afterwards honestly just regressed afterwards and weren't playing anything too different from what we already heard and it was sorta boring until around 4:15'ish or so.

Overall I'm happy to see a bigger spot open up for this type of music but some improvements could be made.

So... this PK sound, does it live up to the hype? Best sound in Toronto? Looking forward to checking CODA out nevertheless

The ceiling reminds me of being at Stereo. Ah yeah...!

More thoughts later

Its pretty good. They need to tweak a bit next time, but I liked hearing the stereo effects more clearly than some other clubs.

Best sound in Toronto that I've experienced. Full, deep, crisp and beautiful without being overwhelmingly loud. And, the sound was consistent throughout all areas of the dance floor that I visited.

One of the best if not the best I've heard in Toronto so far. I have to check it out a few more times before really deciding on this one. Very comparable to Boa/Sonic.
They kept the volume low the entire night and it still sounded crisp, loud with a serious punch and you could talk to anyone around without having to scream. Loved the layout of the venue as well, tons of space to move around. Having the bar in the back of the club is super convenient, if you need to get a drink without having to battle through people in line at the bar and people dancing.

Ame (Kristian) played an amazing set.. very cool melodies, basslines - pure innervisions styles. Heard only a bit of Art Dept before leaving the place so can't comment.

Overall extremely excited about this place.

Definitely one of the best clubs in the city. Spacious, amazing DJs, lots of room to dance, chill crowd, great sound, convenient location. Love this place.

I personally think it was a great opening.
Ame had an amzing set..The sound was on point. The club was on point.

With that said, we will be continuously making little changes
to tweak the soundsystem and to make everything even better.

Our goal is to make every aspect of the venue as good as it can be.

So we hope to see you all at the next events and we thank everyone for their support.

Wow loving the great reviews! I am so glad that someone has stepped up the game sound-wise. That was my only complaint about Toronto clubs. From the pics, the leds on the ceiling surely reminds me of Stereo. Can't wait to check Coda out.

So excited to see this place on Saturday! Really liking the direction they went with lighting. Very curious to see the other changes they made other than the sound.

Would love to see Coda adapt LED for their light show. So simple and cheap and really adds to the experience. Bonus is - the dance floor still stays dark

This video shows it's potential. Can anyone tell me how many different animations they noticed over the course of the night?

Yeah brother, i walked in and i was like Sankeys Toronto? lol
i think the ones at Sankeys are better, and i hope Coda goes full blown n updates it to make it more like Sankeys... i got no problem woth that...

With the exception of the ******y of a line up to get into Coda, everything was perfect...
fix the line up issue this is the second time that line up was a fucking disaster to get in... please invest into proper fences for the line ups on busy nights... i dont want to have to pay off the bouncer everytime i go...

I was really impressed by the crowd and how they didnt jam the club over capacity...

I still dont see how this club can compete with other world class clubs... every famous club ive been to around the world had something different about it... i dont really feel it here per say...

None the less i look forward to going back...

Fingers crossed for a Lee Foss Brrrrr after party!

Italian Poison - were they using that same animation all night? If they were, I'm guessing they didn't have time to program more. 3 weeks isn't a lot of time to renovate an entire club so chances are they aren't 100% complete.

I remember when guv renovated the main room room it was quite a while after they reopened before the laser was working at 100%

I think Scuba and someone else is doing the afterparty at Coda.

They won't fix the lineup situation...it's FW management we're talking about so they're gonna repeat the same crap from before. I was amazed I was able to waltz in despite me having a ticket cuz I thought they'd pull some BS on me as well.

I guess it wasn't oversold cuz there was room to walk around where the bar area in the back is (which is a good thing). That being said, the coat check situation is lousy, as this place can't handle a full crowd and the bathroom situation is messed up too. 3 stalls and like 5 urinals? I've been to plenty of other clubs in Tdot and around the world where it was full and didn't have issues with coatcheck and the bathroom...so they seriously need to fix this.

More thoughts on this place...the DJ booth isn't raised up that high which allows for more interaction between people, which is good. Half these DJs aren't doing much at the front anyway so it's good that people aren't only focused on whatever they're doing.
