I won't disagree, other than Kerri chandler not being Techno.

I'm far removed from partying now. That being said, the places I will in a blue moon frequent keep out the young and broke. I don't think it makes me a Nazi to go there, I just want a douche free environment. Granted this isn't clubland I'm talking about, but I think there is a place for the non-inclusive establishment.

It has nothing to do with being bourgeois; I'm hardly a rich guy. However, I do enjoy not being in the presence of fucked out of their mind backpackers. I work hard, I'm here to relax and not have to deal with their bullshit.

Once again, this situation is not a dance club scenario, but not everyone that frequents exclusive places is a douche looking for status points. I'm willing to bet that many just do so to avoid certain chavy situations.

I meant "techno" in the conceptual sense. I got sent a Chandler comp to review once, I know what he plays.

I don't have a problem with swank bars and clubs for those who want refinement, but that is a different thing to serious dance music, where people should go for - and only be judged on - their love of the music.

Do the brits still make the poor folk stay downstairs?

I actually don't think that it's unfortunate, except when it comes to basics like food/shelter/health care. I 100% approve of certain levels of inequality in life. Clubbing is supposed to be about the music!

A bouncer isn't going to interview you, or give you a Rorschach test. The way you look and hold yourself is going to be what indicates to them what they believe you are.

I'm not agreeing 100% with the situation, but I understand it.

This seems to presuppose the need to keep certain people out. Why does the bouncer need to make any decision about letting you in? If there is space inside and you're not obnoxiously intoxicated, they should let you in, imo. There should be more bouncers inside who can remove anyone who needs to be removed.

I think this song more than perfectly sums up what "exclusivity" in dance clubs is really about. Do ya want it?

I'm not rich. I work about 70 hours a week. I doubt I would if if I was loaded.

The point is, you keep trying to tie the discussion to money or some financial aspect; throwing loaded insults such as nouveau riche, bourgioise, rich kids, etc

What does effort of style have to do with money?

For instance look at the mod scene in the 60's. Dirt poor kids going out on the town but you'd be damned sure they looked sharp as a whistle. Style. Effort. Nothing to do with money. That entire scene was like that. Same with clubbing through the 90's and early 00's in London. People made an effort. Again, it's environment specific and not about "expensive" or costly things. At gatecrasher, part fo it's attraction was the passion of the punters, and while I was never one to put fridge magnets in my hair, you gotta give it to them they were fucking in to it, and I'll take that over making sure you only wear worn jeans, beaten up trainers and a scraggly T-shirt, for fear of being branded a petite bourgeois.

Also, sop with the exclusive/inclusive thing. As I said earlier: if your going to a LGBT club better make sure you get your heels out and that tight dress accentuates your luncheon meat truncheon.

And it's a strange day indeed when 'Crasher kids are invoked in a discussion about looking really nice and stylish. Didn't Gatecrasher end up refusing entry to people who'd bought cyber gear from their own clothing line?

Maybe rann means style. People should put effort in looking good as in stylish. Not expensive which can look absurd. I can understand wanting to be around styleand how I would not want to be around some flailimg 19 year old dancing like a jack rabbit.

Clubbing is not just about music. It is an experience. Ugly people that can't dance or dress detract from it. Some people can pull off jeans and a short sleeved shirt and look like their outfit was intended. So,e people wear an Armani suit and look like they work at radio shack .

We all seen what you look like and dress, you got no say on that topic slut.

But for guys a 20 dollar shirt definitely looks like a 20 dollar shirt. Don't get me wrong I still grab a few things from H&M or from Zara for cheap but I'll only wear those items when I'm not at a nice place

And I should clarify, yeah I like well-made things as much as the next person who enjoys creature comforts, but I do not judge a person by these kinds of things, because at the end of the day those things don't matter, and it's fucking stupid. Again, who cares?

People with true class, possession of wealth and/or status don't need to go around telling everyone "HAY LOOK AT ME I WEAR HUNDRED DOLLAR SHIRTS AND SPEND FOUR BILLS A NIGHT IN CLUBS!!" because it just is what it is. That's how you can always tell who doesn't have shit (not like it matters!!) because those people are always trying to draw attention to their "things". It's overcompensation in the most tacky, obvious way.

Then again we are comparing two total extremes in this conversation. We are comparing an establishment like the guv ( why bother wearing even a t shirt) vs something like Brassai (douchebag central).
I'd rather not go to either one of those places. Guv is too filthy for me and I can't relate to the G'd up kids there and Brassai (or a douche club to that equivalent) I'd rather not hang around a bunch of posers with their dad's credit card for a night.

I'd way rather go to a place like Parlour, where everyone dresses somewhat nice, they play good house, is not rammed and sweaty, nobody is fucked up (either too hammered like Brasaii or high as fuck like guv) , everyone is there for the music and there is no bottle service or a bunch of people trying to impress others. The crowd is mainly people in their late 20's and early to mid 30's with their lives somewhat together. The reason why I like a place like that is because I feel I can relate to the type of person that place attracts. However you can't get in there with a pair of running shoes and ripped jeans. There's also no label whores trying to buy out the bar to show off.


I guess it comes down to what of crowd you feel comfortable with and the type of people you relate too. That being said nowadays I'm usually on Dundas at churchill's or a speak easy dressed like a lumberjack listening to old wutang sipping on a beer from a local brewery. If my job allowed me to grow a mean ass beard I would. I have way more fun over there these days.
