So...New Genelec high-SPL S360 is coming out. Genelec is having showings across the U.S especially over here in Miami and Orlando.

Excited Palm? Maybe a better Sam, doesn't look like it imo..

I see where you're coming from, I have a friend who does ghostwriting who has the same setup, so I'm not surprised.

🦉 You should have PA speakers if you plan to DJ or play live. Most audio engineers recommend mixing & mastering at a nominal loudness to reduce ear fatigue & eventual deafness. If your mix sounds great at a low volume then it's going to sound fucken great at a loud volume. Let's face it, our sort of music is really formulaic so you could leave it to AI (AAMS or iZotope Ozone) to make sure the mix & mastering is equivalent to your comparison track. But yeah, when mates pop over, it's great to impress them with your club PA. Don't forget some cheap PAR lights too & a fog machine!

Happy Belated man.

_ I never celebrate my b'day. If I feel like I deserve it I may buy some new music gear.

🦉 Check out the price of GTA V on the PS Store. It's $17.95 AUD right now. I'm going to pass as I have a huge backlog of games to complete & I'm sure this special will come again. I used to only buy physical disc copies so I can resell when I've completed the game & have money towards a new game but at these prices it's a win, unless you 🏴‍_️

I'd honestly probably have all the gear I've ever wanted if I didn't buy so much booze. jaeger #1

🤠 Remember that Traktor S2 hardware I purchased a few months back? It's been sitting on top of the piano ever since--I never actually opened it, till today. That's my b'day present for myself.

🦉 Thank you for your patience. As a reward, you get to ogle Billie.

🐻 So I guess I'm a DJ now. For real, this time. O_o

🤠 New MC-101 & MC-707 boxes & two new Fantoms from Roland. I got a semi but no emotion. Like always, the sounds in their demos are lackluster but they just need some eq & compression.

I saw that, may make a thread they actually look really tasty, but the two demos I've seen were not the best foot forward.

Picked up a Behringer Model D for $190, highly recommended. Also got a DeepMind 6 for $349. The Model D is huge, and for $190? Crazy. I thought not having preset spots would bug me but it's kind of nice to just have a constant state instrument, at least one. All the reviews say it's basically a perfect Model D clone, sounds like it to me but I've only ever had a Voyager and Phatty.

Haven't dug into the DeepMind enough to know yet if I like it, but at first glance the FX are really nice but the OSC design is very similar to the SH-01A. I'm not sure yet if it is basically a SH-01A with FX. It does have a lot of nice "modern" features like variable unison and unison detune, a trance staple. Also hard sync which the SH-01A can't exactly do with a single OSC.

Overall really excited to see what else Behringer comes up with in the next decade.

Neutron is good too, although I didn't gel with it. Mine is sitting in a box in the corner. I'm looking forward to the Pro-1 and the little Crave looks sweet too.

Apparently they've just teamed up with the original MS-20 designer AND the GliGli mod guy too. This points towards more unique designs than clones, which kinda excite me more.

If any of y'all were wondering what the hell that Vermona Perfourmer thing that people keep raving about is....... it is the single greatest sounding synth currently on sale.

And no, not subjective.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Sep-13-2019 07:33:

Nice one Geoff.

I was looking at the lancet, instead the action filter from vermona was more up my alley but then I need a high end delay as well and the Analog 4 Mk1's price 2nd hand is $500 if I look hard enough and it meets all my criteria, and so much more. Best all in one bang for the buck imo.

Edit: Selling my DSP UAD Quad for 50$ than I got it for. Seriously that shit is for vintage purists, hardly any of their plugins imo are suited for modern IDM or Electronic Music. I like clean and distortion free with warm soul character not the artifacts from the hardware and crackling nonsense. End Rant.

Posted by tehlord on Sep-13-2019 08:03:

A4 Mk2 is a nicer machine. Improved audio quality and a physical output per voice sold me, although the latter won't matter if you're using Overbridge.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Sep-13-2019 08:19:

Are you allowed to use overbridge as an editor and still use the analog outs, if not then that's fine, for me I don't like anything that's not converted by my apogee.

Posted by tehlord on Sep-13-2019 08:25:

Can't remember tbh, I'm not using OB right now.

I don't see why not.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Sep-13-2019 08:31:

Alright, what about the FX? I know the oscillatOrs are analog but are the effex analog as well or digital. From what I hear, it's kind like hybrid that blends the original signal digitally or something of that nature and at 48 Khz.

If the sample rate is 48 khz then I'll have timing issues with some of my gear.

I couldn't find this info in the manual.

I want the model d but dont want the behringer, what do?

Keep saving

🦉 Since Moog is an employee-owned US company, if you want to be patriotic & help the economy, get a small car loan & buy the synth now. You would have made many tracks by the time you've paid it off. Or start busking. I envy those who busk. They have confidence.
