Maybe the artist didn't WANT anyone else to have it, and therefore it wasn't released? I don't think it's all the uncommon for an artist to have a tune they're working on that they scrapped the release of because they didn't feel it was up to their standards.

Well, look elsewhere other than UK then? I'm sure there are CD's coming out of other countries like Belgium, Holland, Sweden, etc. that are top notch. God forbid, there may even be some decent ones from the US! LOL

What would YOUR attitude be if I were really one of said artists, posting under DJMaytag's account? Would you be telling me to shut the fuck up because you want to steal my music? How would you feel if I brought this thread to other's artists attention, so they could chime in as well?

I didnt realy wanna to turn this thread into a flame my bad guys. So any further disagreement between me and Mr maytag will be taken to PM's...But i dont think music should be horded I think many of the artist just want their music to be heard I understand it could be frustrating but ya know what...ya gotta take the good with the bad is there any other way you could get your music to the masses without mp3? I dont think soooo and most the people who hear a song on mp3 will then proceed to buy the vinyl or the album it is on. Or some even will buy a record or album the dont even like that much just because it is by their favorite artist.. Without MP3 a majority of the music would never be heard...

Won't ever find a single one of the tracks I listed on a vinyl or a promo CD-R, unless I get the copy from PvD, Armin, Tiesto, Marco V, or Dave Dresden.
Yes, I have mp3 rips on my harddrive. Am I ashamed of myself? No. If I didn't have access to mp3, I would know maybe 5% of the tracks I know now. So I can't support the artist buy buying a vinyl, what the fuck am I supposed to do with a useless 12", stare at it? Yeah I could by CD, but I don't go out and play these tracks at events and get paid for spinning them for a crowd. I listen to them for leisure at home, I don't see much harm in that.
Djeebie:
Dave Dresden himself said that the A: D: D dub of Cold Comfort was set to be released on a label that is since defunct, so it is unlikely to ever see a release anywhere. Shame, that track is a beauty.

A lot of trance artists support it. Let's their music become heard especially since some of their tracks are never released. Think about it though, you hear a new track and fall in love with it so you go to the store and buy it. Now some people download music and don't go out and buy the album but it's sometimes because they have no money (like me) and wouldn't buy their album regardless. I understand how it can make them lose sales but usually if an album is amazing someone will buy it to support the artist, groups like Metallica who are now crap are just mad that nobody buys their albums so they rag on people who spread MP3's. Artists like Fred Durst who at the time of his tour supporting Napster and file sharing was selling lots of albums and probably even more so because of MP3 sharing supported MP3's. So I assume that you have no MP3's of ur own or if u do that u have every single one of them also on CD or vinyl? Thought not.

Probably the same way it was BEFORE mp3's existed, thru record stores, radio, and DJ's playing at clubs/raves.

Yes, many do go out and buy the CD/vinyl, but there was an example in this thread where I said I could supply the track in question, but the person declined, stating he was only looking for the mp3 rip.

Which artists are you talking about though? Artists that are currently signed and releasing tracks, or every single person in the world that's written a tune? I'm sure the percentages are QUITE different between the respective demographics.

Nothaving money is a pretty weak excuse if something is worth your time and energy to spend so much time online looking for it.

In the last 6 months or so of Napster, I did download a number of tunes (about 100), but many of them were from mix CD's and compilations. I've acquired about 80 to 90 of those tunes. Most of the remaining tunes I'm still looking for on vinyl.
I've not downloaded anything since Napster was shut down that I didn't either order for myself or order for the record store I consult for. I've got 700 mp3's on my hard drive at the moment, so 1/7th of my collection was downloaded and 3% of my entire collection I've not yet acquired. I would not be surprised that there are a significant number of ppl out there that can't claim that they've PURCHSED 3% of the tunes they've downloaded.

I have spent a good majority of the money I've ever had on music, on shitty overpriced cd's, if you think I should pay over the odds for decent music, then why don't you make up the difference for everyone. You are not a person who is an 'artist' so that's bullshit, and if u can find half the tunes I'd like on cd or vinyl then I'd happily pay for it, but it's not gonna happen, an artist, namely Lange saw an mp3 on this site once, did he cry about it ? no, he patiently contacted swamper to remove it, and any artist who denies mp3s have helped them can stfu, because for the majority of artists in the dance genres, mp3s have gained them exposure, how many ppl bought airwaves album after hearing an mp3 of his, I bet they wouldn't turn the money down if someone said 'mr airwave, i bought this after hearing an mp3 of it'.
Maybe the artists should stop letting the fatcats of the big labels take all royalties and earn some of the money they should be entitled to that goes into the pockets of some overpaid dick of a company boss. These record labels are dictating what we can listen to, and if you want everyone to listen to Lasgo & flip n fill then fine, carry on in ur attitude, but it will not be the same as the majority of people here.

The people in here are right. 99% of cds out are garbage with two or three good songs if that on them. I would much rather pay for an mp3 than a cd or vinyl anyway. when I get home and I want to listen to some music, I don't feel like putting a cd single into my cd player and then having to switch it when I'm done, it's so much easier to load up a playlist. And vinyls are even worse, some of us just want to kick back and relax, we don't want to have to switch a vinyl every time a song ends.. Not only that but I don't even have turntables in the first place so getting most of these songs in a format other than mp3 is a little difficult for me.
but that's just my 2 cents, you can take it however you like

DUde, I've read everything you've written. I personally dont have the money to buy turntables, therefore it would be stupid to go out and buy the vynils, plus, I which I had the money to be able to spend around 15 and up on 4 remixes of a song ( the vynil ) .. sometimes its not even 4 but 1 or 2.
Also, many of the songs, that may be included on a CD are either remixed or shorted, exept for those compilations heaving the full .. not even at all times, on the TRANCEMASTER series. But, I do not have 30 - 40 bucks to spend on one of this CD's ( WHICH ARE IMPORTS for the majority of time .. and yes, im in the USA ) .
IM not working, maybe later on, so for now, I want to enjoy trance music, and all the latests tunes, I'd love to support the artist and so on, but if you didnt know, much of the music, as we all know it, was spread through mp3 music. The internet played, and is playing a big role on dance music at least here in the United States, at least in my case. And a great example is to see what happened to Cosmicman - I love you track, which was only going around the internet, but yet, was in great demand for a VYNIL release. IT was well known thanx to the internet, and many DJ's have agreed that mp3 helps. DJ's wouldnt be known for their quality ( many that heavent come to the USA were allready in demand, thanx to their LIVESETS going around the internet as well their songs, example, DJ TIESTO, MARCO V and prob all the others ).
Last but not least, CD's are the cheapest source and kind to make, cheaper then making a tape, yet its expensier then a tape. Its rediculous how expensive a CD is, and I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY EVERY SINGLE CD , which may have onlye 2 - 3 songs I like, while the others are SH*T ! .. And not even what you pay for the CD goes to the artists, if im not mistaking, only 10% goes to the artist, the rest is for the record label and so on ... so man, I dont agree with your greedy thing about mp3 sharing. Ofcourse if I was mad rich, I wouldnt bother downloading, wasting time and go straight on getting the CD"s, but what if I dont like vynils ? .. so man .. its about opinions and what you like.
Enjoy !
