So yesterday I called Rogers to see what they could offer to retain me as a customer, as lately I've considering this corporate pricing plan offered through Baka Wireless on Bell Mobility's network.
a pricing plan of $17.25 which includes
250 day-time minutes
Unlimited evenings 8p-8a, and free weekends
* Activation Fee Waived
* Call Forwarding for Free
* Call Display for Free
* Call Waiting for Free
* Conference Calling for Free
* Detailed Billing for Free
* Message Centre (Voice Mail) for Free
and $30 for Unlimited email & internet for BB / Smartphones
I've been a customer of rogers for nearly 10 years, 8 of which off contract, and have never done a hw upgrade. I shared with the Rep the pricing plan which Baka is offering and this is what Rogers Rep counter-offered.
a pricing plan of $17.40 which includes
200 day-time minutes + 100 bonus minutes
Unlimited evenings 6p-7a and free weekends.
For an additional $30 they offered me two options.
* 1GB of Data
* Caller ID & Voicemail
* No txt messaging
or
* 500 MB of Data
* Caller ID & Voicemail
* 10,000 TXT, 10,000 MMS Messages
Based on some of your experiences dealing with Rogers Customer Service, would you consider this a good offer, or would there be additional room to negotiate with rogers for a better rate, minutes, features, etc?
Any comments/feedback would be appreciated.
The VP is not so great, yes you do have 50 more mins ... but your evenings start @ 8pm.
*Ask for the normal rate of the EPP plan, same shit but ... 200 daytime & evenings @ 6pm*
Data - "SO-SO"
*Ask for 1GB & 2500 TXT MSGs & whatever*
(my GF and i have had PDA-Phones for awhile & both txt each other like crazy, never pass 400 txt msgs each)
Good Luck

The thing is ... are you doing short form, letter commands (ex: facebook) & etc ? Or are you doing full 160 char txting for each msg? *That's what I do*

It certainly doesnt take long for information to start pouring out of RIM as soon as one of its NDAs springs a leak. A host of details emerged today about the BlackBerry Application Suite which allows a Windows Mobile device to run the BlackBerry OS as an application. The Application Suite is approximately 32 MB in size and is currently based on OS 4.2.1 which can be programmed to boot up as soon as Windows Mobile boots up. BlackBerry email, PIN messaging (important to many is the fact that BlackBerry Messenger works), calendar, tasks, address book and memos function in the same way as they do on a real BlackBerry, including BES synchronization. IT policies are supported and Windows Mobile and BlackBerry can simultaneously through their separate APNs. Also of note is the fact that Windows Mobile and the Application Suite can each be tied into a separate Exchange accounts without complication. But with all that work having been done, there are quite a few key features of any good smartphone that will not work. Features like GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi cannot work as the Application Suite does not have access to them. Phone calls cannot be made through the Application Suite so it routes all calls through Windows Mobile. Video playback is not supported and some applications may not work properly on devices with VGA resolution. Sounds like RIM would have been better served if it had decided to work with an open OS *cough* Android *cough* Symbian
So there you have it - BlackBerry Application Suite in a nutshell. Do we like or dislike? Either way, hit the jump for a horribly blurry video of the Suite in action.

METAL GEAR SOLID - Coming to the iPhone!

^ lol, I just read this too. Pretty cool
"The iPhone isn't even a phone anymore. It is now a gaming platform."
- Steve Jobs, after being rendered 50% lighter in his new form due to use of aluminium and water-jet milling techniques

Awhile ago, when I first played SuperMonkeyBall ...
I was thinking to myself; the unit can handle PSP like games, what if Konami came out with MGS on this? Yeah fucking right, stop smokin' crack.
My fav game now comes reality for the iPhone. I'm so spechless and very happy.
I will be buying this game from the app store to show my respects to Konami!

13 hrs left, what do you want me to do?
Up it or leave it?
if I up, can't do the same pattern .... just to be safe.

Big news today from everyones favorite nav company turned mobile handset company turned will it ever release its phone?! company. We all know Garmin joined the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) earlier this year but word is now trickling around the web pointing to some pretty lofty aspirations in terms of the timing for the companys virgin Android offering. From Tony An, Garmins Asia Pacific Marketing Director:
Garmin will launch Nuvifone, its first GPS-enabled handset, in the Taiwan market in the second quarter of 2009, An noted. Garmin also plans to launch self-developed Android handsets in the second half of 2009, with production to be outsourced
Wow. Garmin looks to be positioning itself as a potential player in the mobile market - if it can ever manage to push a handset out the door, that is. Asus will almost certainly be responsible for production of Garmins Android phone as it is contracted to build the Nuvifone and it joined the OHA on the very same day as Garmin. With both Mio and Garmin looking to branch out into mobiles and Dash ditching its stand-alone units, we have to wonder if dedicated navigation boxes will soon be a thing of the past. Either way, Mio and Garmin are currently in a race to release what will likely be very similar handsets and to the victor may go the spoils. Either way, well be looking forward to more info on Garmins first Android offering regardless of when it might actually come to market. 2H 2009? We might be lucky if we see the Nuvifone by then.

may not make a huge diff here since the phone is already available through Rogers/Fido but useful for those traveling out of the country or on reseller providers.. or hoping to move to Globalive
