where can I get thsoe slipmats, and what if I use different ones
and what about scratching? can they handle scratching?

Posted by Allied Nations on Aug-07-2004 22:18:

im just kidding u can use any mats, i just love my gucci/louis vuitton reversible mats, they are beautiful. go to sicmats.com.

these can hella handle scratching they are so fuckng solid, the torque is really incredible. they have reverse and 8/10/20/50 % adjustable pitch, i mean they have everything one needs.

Well I have moved out of the bedroom at the repeated request of my neighbors. Now I share a practice space with a band here in Seattle. I love that I can really crank it up when I practice now.

Oh and I FINALLY found a use for those lame Free Float things. Now I can make a recording without the CD skipping.

Nice setup Keith!

dual subs!!! it must sound bananas in there!!!!

Posted by D Dubya on Aug-09-2004 01:06:

Keith, did you buy those free float things? I never thought there would be a use for them

Posted by Keith Chambers on Aug-09-2004 02:44:

Yeah back when I was using a stainless steel table I thought Free Float would help with the feedback. What a joke! Honestly I lost all respect for Tiesto when I saw him promoting them with his (egocentric/I am God) DVD. I just don’t see how anybody could use them with a turntable.

So those two 18s with the 1320W amp really rattle the table. The CD recorder would bounce all around and literally fell of the table one time. Honestly I didn’t think the Free Float would even work but it did. Never a skip on the CDs I record now.

Unless you have a stationary object that you need to isolate from a vibrating surface (like a CD recorder) please don't waste you money. Trust me.

Keith

Thanks for the advice. I always wanted to know from somebody that owned them and wasn't being paid to promote them.

Probably not, They're built like a rock with a preload memory of 1 track. So what you hear out laud, isn't comming directly from the CD, it's comming from the internal memory of the CDJ1000.

I love that setup keith!

Posted by Keith Chambers on Aug-09-2004 17:52:

The CDJs have never skipped on me. I am really impressed cause the bass can get so heavy in there that your vision gets blurry. I really can't say enough good stuff about them. It's just too bad that there isn't a 24 bit format so that CDs would sound as good as vinyl...

very nice setups in here people

Posted by visje on Aug-12-2004 12:28:

those freefloats do work for me. I have a wooden floor and with out free floats if u step too hard my tts would skip, all these problems vanished after using FFs. Sure they might be a bit unstable but u get used to that.

I have one myself, and i really disslike it. The EQs are crap as hell and the faders leak a bit. The output quality isn't the best possible, and not to mention those beatcounters(but who uses them anyway). It's okay though as long as it stays in a bedroom.

It is true that the curve of the EQ rotaries are a bit odd. But once you get used to it, it shouldn't give any problems.

I've never had experiences with leaking faders (unlike my former mixer)

Okay, the output quality is bad, I agree with you there.

i have a djx700 and find the eq's a bit weird. from closed to half open is a massive step, where half open ot fully open is hardly anything at all.

Posted by montie on Aug-24-2004 03:36:

i made some additions ot my setup

actually the technic CDJ's and the DJM500 are my friends
he just has them setup in my room since he doesn't have any speakers
