The yankees will be able to offer far more than any other team because of that. Additionally, they can front load the contract so he will make a ridiculous amount in the beginning (because of the rangers payments), and then lace the backend with incentives ontop of a ridiculously high base. THe yankees are definitely in the drivers seat.

Thats only if teams are willing to bid on Johan instead of waiting for his contract to expire. In which case, it REALLY plays into the hands of the Yankees, a pitcher like that - I find it hard to believe that the Yankees dont offer a truckload of money... and I find it hard to believe that Johan isnt really interested in going to a championship team.

Crazy, surreal scene at Fenway last night.

Red Sox v. Angels

Indians v. Yankees

Let the games begin.

Yeah, I would too. I definitely worry about their speed and ability to bring out quality pitchers in the late innings but what can you do? I'm glad we have home field against them, I think that gives us a clear edge.

Plus, I'm very encouraged by how Dice-K pitched last night. We desperately need him to perform in the post season.

i'm trying to decide which hurts more, the end to this season or being at game 7 last year. i think i give the nod to this year because there is no excuse for blowing the kind of lead they had with less than 20 games to go.

just glad that hockey season starts this week...

I'm always around. I'm not going to watch any of the NL series. As of right now, I'm hoping the Indians win the WS. I've been picking them for like 4 years now.

Missed the game today but I'm sure he was hilarious. By September he's completely insane due to lack of sleep and what has to be intense alcohol consumption that he just says whatever pops into his head. Recently he's been on a rant about how the moon moves in any direction it chooses - the moon has a mind of it's own according to Rem Dawg. Good times.

On an aside, I'll be in the city for PvD - his Global Gathering set did me in. The mash up of Fuck the Good/Higher State of Conciousness is stellar. Sick set overall.

Go...Rockies?

it's because he think's he's a homerun hitter. He doesn't have the power to miss the ball and still drive it out. Therefore, he pops out a lot. He needs to realize that his game is small ball, and he needs to drive the ball into the ground. He also needs to understand that the mets pay carlos beltran, david wright, and carlos delgado to drive runs in, his job is to get on base and score.

i agree.. he started the season in his usual fashion but started to crumble as the season went on.. even his defense, starting like 2 months ago, began committing errors quite often. even tho he set a record in steals, thats pretty much all he'll be remembered for this year, he had so much potential to have an all around solid season but nope. maybe Ramirez/Rollins comp got to him a bit.

Rollins is probably the MVP this year.
