nice set-up... how do you like the denon mixer??? how does it compare to the djm500???

Posted by DjVash on Sep-05-2004 18:48:

For god's sake ppl, what is with you and Pioneer mixers?? They are the nightmare of every sound engineer!

If you want a REAL mixer with effects, get a Nuo 5 (best mixer I've seen yet).

Just curious, what makes it better than that denon one page back? I much prefer the denon, the matrix is surpisingly useful, and the display is very nice, something i think we'll start seeing in more and more mixers. Also i was dissapointed to find out that the Nuo didnt have LED meters for each channel.
I havnt had the chance to try a nuo though, so im just curious as to what its pros are.

I haven't got a chance to test that Denon. I was referring to someone who said how it'd compair with a DJM500.

LED meters for every channel isn't really obligated: You can simply cue that channel and see the LEDs anyway. I think it is great is has two led meters: one for the cue and one (stereo) for the master. All I'm saying is that ppl should back off from the DJM500/600 because they are really crappy mixers. The modded versions of them (they practically replaced everything) are a lot better, THOSE are real mixers. They're not for sale though, and it takes another €1000 to mod them.

Vash, I know the 500/600 has problems, but there kinda old now, and so they can't really be compared to todays mixers, just give it 5 years and compare the Ecler Nuo5 to something then, not saying the Eclers crap, because its not, its an awesome mixer, I decided on the Denon X1500 aswell, and I fuckin LOVE IT, I been hammering the shit out of it, since its the demo one, since I gotta wait for mine to come in, so I been treating it really hard, leaving on for days, with everything on it turned on, the effects on max, and sampler playing constantly, and gains, EQs and the like set MAX, and its not had one problem, I am really glad I chose it over the Ecler, for reasons I've explained in one of my other posts.

Anyway, I'll post pics of my setup later.

Your "there kinda old now" theory doesn't quite come up with DJ gear. Notice the Technics? Don't say there were better tables because there weren't (not until those super OEM machines popped up). If ppl chose for an SL, you'd get a very good deck. The arm and the spindle motor were so perfect, no deck could ever get near it. And they still cant't (super OEM machine is an exception).

So maybe I'm ignorant, but I still can't see the good thing in a DJM600.

Well with the exception of the Techs, I was really talking about mixers, I guess it comes down to personal preference, I've used the DJM many times and have had no problem with it, I'd use it again for sure, its not much of a mixer now, but it had its time when it was a great mixer.

Posted by Dizkojockey on Sep-06-2004 18:10:

Yes i do have equalisation control in the headphones, but it will not work whilst the cue switch is on,you have to route the signal through aux,its a bit complicated and takes a bit of getting used to.

yo, what kind of table is that and where did you get it?

Posted by tu_face on Sep-09-2004 09:46:

its from ikea, but i couldn't tell you the style's name or anything as i got it from a mate. its very very sturdy, it takes the weight of 3 decks and all my other bollocks no problem

looking at ikea's website, the nearest thing is this:
http://www.ikea.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...ats=10121*10390

but they don't do it in black anymore :/
