Yeah. I've got into the habit of only using my laptop while laid in bed, so I rest it on my stomach and my hand sits to the left of the touchpad. That's terrible for your laptop (and your health). You should use a laptop fan/mat, or better yet, one of those breakfast trays people use in bed, so your laptop doesn't overheat, and you won't get cancer of the bollocks.

My laptop has never overheated. And why's it bad for my health, exactly? I'm sure you're right, but I'd like to hear the specifics.

Other than male fertility issues and "toasted skin syndrome", I don't think there is any real danger. But like with everything else these days, someone will discover that it can cause some sort of cancer.
I still suggest you get one of those bed trays, for extra safety (for you and your laptop)

Never found any kind of skin marks either. I'm pretty sure my laptop doesn't get warm enough to do any kind of damage.

A salt mine in Transylvania, aprox. 200 meters depth. It has a nice internal lake where one can rent boats. Was here last week:

So a few days ago I was woken up at about 4am by tons of loud sirens flying past my house. I figured that, like usual, it was some kind of police thing happening at the dodgy council flats that are just up the road. Evidently not, this time.

Totally gutted. Hope they were insured.

Edit: I should add that apparently everyone got out unharmed, thanks to smoke alarms that went off. And the houses on either side were fine too

I used to make myself the same question, until a friend said that there are marks you may want to keep on your body forever. They may remind you of an important moment in the past/present (reason why now you see the Olympic rings tattooed quite frequently if you pay attention to the athletes' bodies), of your cultural heritage, or it can be a purely decorative adornment.

Their permanence is exactly what makes them strange to me. I can't think of a single other decorative adornment that lasts forever, which is understandable because tastes (and fashions) are always changing.

Apart from the really egregious cases in which the tattoos look nothing like what was originally intended, I'm yet to see someone who regrets having them though.

I considered having a tattoo myself when I finished my Master's (I thought of having the myth of Babel slowly progressing from Latin to my own idiolect on my back)... but given how much of a wimp my body is (it never really accepted my piercings), I thought I'd better give up and just keep torturing myself climbing up the academic ladder

I'm with you on this, though I feel that once someone is an adult or whatever, then if that's what makes them happy, good for them. What really boggles my mind is seeing more and more young kids with them. But on the other hand, the more people who have them - especially visible - the less taboo they become. Tattoos, and perhaps to a greater extent, piercings? - are signs that someone has undergone a kind of painful ritual, willingly. So most conservative people wince at what they represent. Essentially, I am hard-pressed to find any essential reason they ought to be a metric to judge someone by, apart from the glaring fact that people get them to signify what kind of social tribe they might belong to; those with tattoos, or those without them, and all of the connotations that might define how each individual is perceived. Really, what difference ought it make if someone decided to have pigmented ink applied to their skin in a permanent fashion? None at all, if you ask me, and further it has the potential to be a beautiful metric of character, when applied in tasteful (subjective, naturally!) fashion.

Also, really awful tattoos are an excellent metric to immediately dismiss someone, you know? I try to hold as few prejudices as possible, but I refuse to relinquish that particular one. You got an arm-sized portrait of Porky Pig on your thigh? That's fantastic, now I don't have to expend an iota of energy considering a single thing you might have to say.
