I definitely believe that people who get "flash" tattoos (that is a tattoo they picked off a book on the wall) is completely absurd. However, if that tattoo means something to you, then more power to you. Also, with a lot of them, it's essentially art being permanently part of your body. Who wouldn't want to be covered in beautiful artwork?
My toe looks like Munch's Scream guy. True story.
But yeah, I'd love to have loads of works of art covering my body... I'm not sure I'd have the guts to have them permanently though, so props to you for actually having the courage to do that

Not all art is meant for other people to look at. Hence the extremely personal aspect of tattooing. The piece is meant for the person whose body it will be on for the remainder of their life. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, or if anyone else even sees it at all.
If it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, then why is it even a topic of discussion?
Apparently because Penalba enjoys the taste of my penis.
And the philosophy or rationale behind tattooing is a valid topic of discussion, but that doesn't mean that if someone gets a tattoo that is covered 95% of the time, that they "don't respect art."

I can see my arm just fine. How exactly do you quantify the number of viewers for something to be considered art? If there is an original Monet sitting in an attic somewhere that nobody has ever seen, would you consider it art? After all, it is just a picture that nobody looks at.
And you're straying away from your assertion that people with tattoos do not respect art. Please explain how a person who pays an artist to essentially paint a permanent picture on their body does not respect art.
I'd say that most tattoos are crap, and aren't actually art, and certainly aren't essentially indicative that their bearers have any interest in art on any level.
Can you imagine pestering some burly sod waiting at the DMV, his arms covered in godawful portraits of dragons fit only for budget middle-school attire: "Art fan, are ye?".
Who the fuck are you to assess what is or isn't art?
It's subjective.
I'm me, that's who. And I say that some things are not art. It's subjective, so it's subject to my opinion.
Is there anything else that I can help you with?
That's true, but the question was "who wouldn't want to be covered in beautiful art?"
To which the answer was "People who have respect for art, I imagine"
I'm not talking about a tattoo that was picked out of a generic book which cost $50 and took 20 minutes to do.
I'm talking about art that is created for you by an artist, which could take anywhere from 6-12 hours to complete, and cost thousands of dollars. People don't tend to spend that much money and invest that much time and pain on something that they don't respect.
A lot of people look at my tattoos and it's
Then they hear the story behind them and it's
I'd say a lot of people look at "traditional" art in the same way. Look at a painting not knowing the context or the technique used and it's nothing but a canvas of colors. Explain and educate that same person about it and they'll gain an understanding and appreciation of it.
People who don't "understand" tattooing will always find something negative to say about it, unfortunately.

ITS ART BRAH WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU ITS MY EXPRESSION ITS WHO I AM IN MY INNER SELF I AM JUST EXPRESSING MYSELF I LOVE ART AND SKELETONS AND ORLANDO AND TAPOUT MMA I OWN T SHIRTS SO PEOPLE KNOW NOT TO MESS WIT
Man, that's stupid. He's probably going to wear long sleeves sometimes! What's the point?!
THERES STORIES BEHIN EACH ONE LIKE ICE THEY CALL ME MR ICE OR THEY DID AFTER I HAD THAT TATS LOL BUT RLY I ONCE ATE A BUCKET OF DRY ICE
