Tiesto's mix (even heard live) sucks big Chebacka balls...

Ferry Corsten's mix is just amazing... It sucks that Tiesto has little originality when it comes to producing.... Most of the ideas in Gouryella's productions came from Ferry, not Tiesto - that's why Tiesto (being a spot-light addict) said he doesn't want to share it with Ferry. Well, fuq him.

I give Tiesto credit - he has been able to pull off some decent productions in the past but since he hit #1 spot he has been too busy basking in the spotlight, instead of living up to the expectations not only as a DJ but as a producer.

just my $40.00 worth.

tiesto's mix is second only to ferry's...end of story!

OLLLLLLLLDDD Thread.......

Anyways, as I've always said, no dance mix of this tune can compare to the beauty of the original string quartet composition or the vocal choir arrangement heard on the movie "Lorenzo's Oil".

actually imo...only a full orchestra can bring out the strength and swells in the song. and the greatest experience? if you're actually playing in it.

been there, done that. but a full orchestra? that would be blasphemy. only a string orchestra can do it, which parts just duplicate the original string quartet movement with an added double bass part.

anyways, this is probably the piece i've played the most in orchestras throughout the years. thank god for tiesto for finally doing it justice in the dancefloor after years of having to deal with that sickening and horrendous epic happy prissy mix by fairy. j/k

hehe, i meant full as in full string orchestra as opposed to a chamber group. but yea, back to topic...i'm torn btwn the two. tiesto's is so much techier and harder (which i like) but ferry's has the better buildup/breakdown.

i do recall tho, back when i was JUST getting into trance, thinking it was blasphemy that there existed a "techno" remix of barber's adagio. hehe. how times have changed.

haha yeah i knew you couldn't mean a full orchestra as in winds, brass and percussion included. that would ruin the piece

i also thought the same the first time i heard the ferry remix, and i still think the same way about it. for me, it is blasphemous. but i was there at TiC live, and hearing this Tiesto mix for the first time ever was one of the most incredible revelations of my life. it was just too intense, a religious experience

Corsten's remix vs Tiesto's

Hey the mix is not as good as ferry's, but tiesto's remix definitly a cool one ... Ferry 's remixes are always better in terms of quality and style ... tiesto's remixes all sound the same and so does his productions...

Posted by T32oo3 on Sep-25-2003 13:33:

its not the battle of the remixers ... trance rulezzzzzz ... period!

ferry corsten found the gold first..and hit the jackpot first...

tiesto is too late....and his remix is nutthin special...

the melody of the tune has always been good not tiesto's beats IMO

Ferry's d man

Well Tiesto could have done a lil better to make his version sound unique .. but ferry rules all the way ... i think tis remix has no class and quality .. the only thing is that it sounds good whn played live ... and thats what matter ...
Come on but Tijs , ferry n armin are still the best commercial trance dj's ..

I've only heard Tiesto's remix in the TiC liveset. Indeed to me it is unique but... the main phrase is incomplete - it plays halfway then repeats itself - which was to me quite a sudden shock
I would have liked it much more if he played the passage all the way through - but oh wells.

Hello!

i agree. the loop he used made the track sound unfinished.

as for which ones better i couldn't say. tiesto's is definitely more pumpin but ferry's mix defines the sound of 99 trance. they are both excellent.....can we not just leave it at that?!

Ok, I am confused. I have William Orbit-Barbers Adagio for Strings (DJ Tiesto Live Rip), it's less than 4 mins long. Now, is this the same tune as William Orbit - Barbers Adagio for Strings (DJ Tiësto Remix)? Is the live rip the same tune just played live?

Help!

Emil

Probably the same tune or something, but the release keeps getting put back, now down as early next year, but who knows if it'll ever come out fully

Wowie zowie! I just d/led this song a 2nd time. This time there is an intro by a announcer saying "1 DJ, 25,000 people, sold out weeks in advance. Presenting to you, the man who won all the imaginable awards in dance music. The man who sold hundreds of thousands of albums worldwide. The man who has taken us on a musical journey tonight. Popular from L.A. to Moscow, from Sidney to Rio De Janero, all over the world. He is the worlds #1 d.jjjjjjjjj. Ladies and gentleman, please welcome Dj Tiesto!"

Wow, holy shit when Tiesto drops the beat the crowd goes freaking nuts. The first time I heard it on the system in my truck I went nuts.

Where was this live rip taken from? Were any of you there?

Emil
