If I end up going there will be ~4 cars leaving from North York for WEMF, if there is room I can give you a shout if you want.

It changes every year but crowds have ranged from about 3,000-12,000 over the last eight years.

Not bad, but honestly I expected a lot more to show up for an event of this magnitude.

hehe this is Toronto .. not Amsterdam ..

i wonder what the largest electronic music festival in N. America really is for that matter .. ? i remember about 2 years ago they were gonna hold Creamfields USA in New York and Las Vegas but that fell through due to poor ticket sales ..

I don't think she can get the $20 back (I'm not positive on that) but she will get something *special* which hasn't been announced yet

one way or another she'll get her $20 worth

Question: are camcorders allowed?

Posted by DJOS2 on Jun-19-2003 23:17:

Yes - you can bring cameras or camcorders for personal use. You are not permitted to resell any footage from the event.

Damn, just when I was planning on videotaping and selling...

hahaha

Posted by Elmo-On-XTC on Jun-20-2003 02:18:

yes sell the entire 3 day WEMF video

no actually a friend and I are just thinking about doing a little, 'documentary' if you will, on the "rave"/electronic music culture and get people's opinions on the rave act in the USA and all that and have some editing fun with that and see what we come up with

that's if he goes...

...and if we get a digital camcorder...

Yeah, what happened to Mark EG? Why is he banned from Canada?

He got banned from entering the country sometime in 2001 (spring or summer) because he had a D.U.I. charge on him in the UK. So he's banned for like 4 years i think.

Posted by DJOS2 on Jun-20-2003 14:47:

Yup - he got a 5 yr. ban for "lying" on his work permit. Basically, he got the DUI and then didn't check the box onthe form that said "Do you have a criminal record." He honestly thought the DUI was a traffic ticket, but as we all know, ignorance of the law is not an excuse!

Pardon my ignorance, but does DUI means Driving Under the Influence?
--- just making sure.

PLAN B - Official Update

Over the years many battles have been fought to bring you this event. We have always been there to fight for your right to party and this year is no different! With pressure from the overblown media hype surrounding the non-existent SARS crisis to dealing with hypocritical members of the establishment, we have been kept very busy in our efforts. To make this event the best it can be and to allow it to happen in a fully legal and permitted environment, we have made some changes that we feel will allow us to continue bringing you the quality show you have come to expect. You spoke and we listened! Based on the overwhelming demand to return to the beach, we have done just that. This year we have decided to move WEMF2003 to a new and improved lakeside venue featuring a beautiful sandy beach, proper zoned camp grounds to which you can drive and park your own vehicle, BYOB and have a campfire. There is a fully licensed restaurant, running water, showers, flush toilets and even an indoor pool. The venue also features both indoor and outdoor stages. Outdoor stages will run throughout the day and evening and massive indoor halls will accommodate late night beats. Not only are we offering this improved venue but we are doing it at a reduced price. We encourage everyone to join us as we once again make history!

New Venue Update

WEMF Plan B will be held at Trudeaus Park in Tweed, Ontario approx. 2hrs East of Toronto. The venue features many improvements over our previous location including:

- On-site beach & forested campgrounds!
- Camp beside your car as you can now drive to your campsite!
- Those of age can bring and enjoy their own alcohol at their campsites (no glass)!
- Outdoor concert stages for day and evening use!
- Massive indoor halls for late night beats!
- Running water, showers & flush toilets!
- On-site restaurant and licensed lounge!
- Payphones and much much more!

Please visit www.wemf.com for detailed maps and driving directions as well as shuttle bus schedules and all other WEMF related information.

man you'd think that in 10 years things would change .. but the war still rages .. it's becoming more and more apparent these days that the scene here will never be like it is overseas without going full blown corporate & commercial..
