um....no they were not. The only way you can answer them is by taking what little information is given and then making stuff up on your own to fill in the gaps.

I'd like to get 3 or 4 different people together who think like you do and get their answers on what the movies were all about. I guarantee that all the answers would be different.....thus proving my point that people with an overly active imagination will love these movies and call them brilliant, but in fact they have very little substance at all.

Posted by Flec on Nov-10-2003 23:17:

just becuase someone says they understand it doenst mean they actually do

not everyone in the class has the same answer on their book reports when they all have to report on the same book

If you like being spoon fed stories that tie up all loose ends, then this series of movies is not for you. Personally, I enjoy not knowing how the movie really ends, or being left going WTF?

I loved the Matrix(1, 2 & 3)Vanilla Sky, and stuff like that.
it gives you options to believe what you want.
Its your choice(whoah..isnt choice/self determination a theme from the Matrix??)

here we go again with people who believe themselves intellectuals and appreciate the "brilliance" of the Matrix movies. A story is supposed to have a beginning, a middle and an end.....that is the basic story telling formula that has been around for centuries and it works rather well when used right. The Matrix has a great beginning, a disappointing middle and a turd of an ending, if you can even call it an ending.

Movies and books are supposed to provide CLOSURE.

The Matrix revolutions as it stands has drawn in over $205 Million world wide. WOW!

jeez! alright first off, just cuz a movie makes sense, doesnt mean its good, i didnt like it cuz it was 'deep' or whatever, but it does make sense..

and the movie wasnt left open ended, they made peace, what more could u possibly want?

that doesn't make it a good movie. Scary Movie 3 has made 90 million dollars so far....is it good?

Maybe in the classical sense yeah sure. But movies/books/TEXTS that push boundaries on what society considers is the way things should work do not necessarily work that way. They work in different way. I mean the conecpt in and of itself of questioning reality (basis for the Matrix itself obviously) can be interpreted in many ways, some of which are explored in the movie, others are not. I mean the war ended, peace was reached. What more do you want? I wasn't too happy with the ending at the time but I mean it's not SO bad. People who have high expectations about things shouldn't be disappointed when they are let down when they will be that way no matter what happens. Even if the movie is amazing, if it is not the way they had hoped or expected, it will suck ass.

Most people are unhappy with Revolutions....it clearly was not a good, or even half decent, movie. Great effects sure, but short on everything else, including a good, well thought out script and solid story. Didn't you see the reviews it got?

Posted by Endlesswave on Nov-11-2003 03:15:

Reviews? Who gives a fuck? Pfffffffff. If I lived my life by listening to EVERYTHING people say or review I'd get nowhere. If you personally thought it was fucked and have valid reasons that's FINE but there are other people who think differently and there's nothing with that either.

I'm talking about the VAST MAJORITY of reviews...not just the likes of Peter Travers and Roger Ebert. Plus, look at the exit polling and www.imdb.com voting/comments.

i cnat remember the last time i trusted anyone elses review

I agree, the movie was total rubish. A happy ending, what the hell were they thinking? They should have ended it with Neo waking up as Johnny Utah, with Patrick Swazye standing over him. Now that would have been awesome!

Thanks to Pagoda for that one.

Posted by Tudo Beleza on Nov-11-2003 03:22:

I usually stay out of these topics, but i thought i should offer my thoughts.

I do not know, i found the story to be interesting and enjoyable, through the 3 of them, they each added something and built on each other, and i enjoyed how they let you think, and that not all answers were there. I will agree there was many cheese lines, but i thought the ending was good, it was a ending that made sense, i do not know how else you could have ended it, it was not one of those ending that came out of no where and left you thinking wtf.

But i am looking forward to Last Samuari Now!

Posted by infinity HiGH on Nov-11-2003 03:22:

Revolutions did provide closure. Neo fulfilled the prophecy. That was the main story from the very beginning. He is the one. He's responsible for bringing peace between man and machine. Everything else is up to you to decide what happens. If thats too mind-numbing then tough.

With the Matrix series, the directors don't tell you what to think; you have to reach that yourself.

And Smitty; most people don't like Revolutions because they set their minds from the beginning to not like it after Reloaded. Yes, there are some who went into it with an open mind; but most people are just following the crowd. Also, you hating this movie because you wasted 10 bucks on it is pathetic.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Nov-11-2003 03:25:

Um no.....most people didn't like it because it was a bad movie, plain and simple. It doesn't surprise me that you guys like it though. I guess it goes along with the whole 'I have to be different" theme.

Posted by infinity HiGH on Nov-11-2003 03:27:

lol...you're so full of shit.

I don't care who liked it and who didn't. I came out of the theatre satisfied with it.

Posted by StealthAssassin on Nov-11-2003 03:29:

No your right it did suck!

Posted by Endlesswave on Nov-11-2003 03:29:

All I can say is it does NOT at ALL hold a candle to the Return of the King which EVERYONE agrees will be fucking AWESOME!

exactly. Anybody who hailed the Matrix films as the second coming in fimls akin to Star Wars and LOTR...well they just don't know what's good and what's not.

The Wachowski Brothers pale in comparison to Tolkien, Peter Jackson and hell.....even George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

while I'll agree with you on that; I think that right now George Lucas is the worst of them. Back in the 70's he was good for the innovative idea's they used to create some of the scenes, but right now he's just full of shit.

Lucas is a master filmmaker (in terms of editing, technology and use of visual effects) and one of the greatest story tellers of our generation....but he's an awful scriptwriter to be sure. Part of the reason why the original Trilogy is so great is that he didn't direct the better two episodes (I prefer Empire and Jedi personally)

When I say the Matrix doesn't stand up to Star Wars...I mean, of course, Episodes 4, 5 and 6.
