Kaos,

That sounds good to me. I'm assuming that you're talking about your and Project T's sets that I'll judge right? I already uploaded mine to the base directory, which in retrospect, maybe we should make folders with the judges names on it and in there give the two sets unique file names with a text file stating which two are to be judged against eachother. This way if there is 1, 2, 3, 4, and txt files titled 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4, I will know which ones are competing against eachother. This will avoid confusion if people don't UL in the order they are supposed to be compared in.

The mix that I made was 6 tracks and was just over 42 minutes, so I think that it is good to stick to that range for the reasons that I've already stated above. Also, sorry that I saved it as 320kbps, I didn't notice that until after I had already uploaded it. If you want me to reduce it to 160 I can do that and reupload it!

JohnSmith and Kaos,

We need to coordinate a time that we can all listen to your stream, or I suppose at least you and Kaos, but I would also like to listen to it so that I know what I am competing against. If one of you can record the stream that is okay too. I think that I said above that I can do it any time after 5PM central time. Remember, the challenge ends Thursday!

You shouldnt accept any more than one judging assignment until you finish the one you're on.

Ill load it up in Forge and Resave it 160.

My only challenge I have right now is with Project T
I should be in TA chat most of the night- Maybe we can get something done.[

Okay, that clarifies things. Are we going to have a post bumped up to the begining stating all of these aculmulating rules? That would be very handy to keep reviewing them when I have questions. Thank you for switching the sampling rate for me!

Also, another question that I have is how are the judges expected to judge the sets? Is it on a preset scoring scale like the mix comp or is each judge allowed to judge a set on his or her own criteria?

Im remoted in right now converting it- should be all done- 160k
The two picked the judge(s) on 1 persons whim or a groups whim
no scoring criteria.
Im sure tips on why you liked one more than the other would be appreciated- constructive criticism is always nice- not YOUR SET SUCKED

Why did you upload again? Did resume not work?

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-23-2003 23:15:

I will just upload my set in the same way Flesch did, to make things consistent. Maybe we will get to the streaming thing later. I have some ideas for this, i will post a new thread about.

So am I juding John and Flesch's set?
I know which ones which already- but that can be arranged to not know- like i would cheat myself. LOL

You can login and rename your own stuff.

JohnSmith- Upload your mix to the folder Judge_M and name it Mix2.mp3

try to get this done by tonight if you can?

Thanks

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-23-2003 23:53:

unfortunately, i can't get it in tonight, i recorded it on MD already, but i have to record to computer, convert to mp3, and upload. I can have it done by tommorow for sure, still two days ahead of the deadline.

Well- just so you know- I wont be judging this.
Markus Shultz requested one to judge.

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-24-2003 01:01:

isn't he like a professional producer or something?

Marcuz Shultz - you won't see me cry? if i remember correctly..

don't know if i want someone that talented listening to my nasty bedroom DJ trainwrecks! nah, what the hell, why not. as long as it's OK with flesch.

we really need to find a better way of doing this than posting in a thread though.

Just upload to here if you want a judge to just download them.

Or if a judge catches me- I can stream them for him.

unfortunately, i can't connect to this FTP. port 6000 is blocked at my work, and there is nothing i can do about it. It needs to be the default (21) for it to work for me.

Sure, I expected you to listen to it before you made yours. I would do the same.

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-24-2003 02:53:

hmm..

aiight, i'll need to install an FTP server at home then, and FTP it from work to home.. or i guess i could just install recording software on my computer at home.. but it's a piece of crap, and might die.

and now i gotta learn IRC too! doh. this is getting hard.

Posted by Dj Flesch on Jun-24-2003 02:55:

And yes, I would be honored if Markus Shultz would critique and judge our sets. Wow!

IM? send on there?

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-24-2003 05:57:

can't use IM at work either...

this is why we need a dedicated server, have you seen my thread?

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=114119

anyway, we will sort it out. I'm having the feeling that this might be a trial run for this ladder thing.

First Win Recorded

Well- I had time and emono had time and just wanted to get something up-

Emono soundly defeated me with his 24k mono connection.

Judged by Markus - Fair Square like -

Good job emono!

60 minutes that's like double the mark we were shooting for.

OK, how do i send "straight to you"? I could email the file, but no webmail account is gonna take a 30 minute mix.

Or I could FTP it to somewhere that has port 21 open, and then you could get it from there. I can temporarily put it up on a site that my buddy runs, and you can download it from there, i'll send you a PM link. this solution can't be long term though.

Maybe i will just install recording software on my home computer. It's a piece of shit, especially the line in, but if emono can win in 24k mono, then i guess sound quality is not an issue.

However, i don't think SF6 will run on my comp. Anyone have any ideas on some low resource using recording software? No bells and whistles, all i need it to do is record and save a .wav file from the line in.

audiograbber from www.download.com

i use that and that alone for recording sets, better than soundforge for sheer quality and resource use, but above all - it's freeware!
