| Originally posted by spit_heron funny to see this thread. i just wrote some depressing lyrics. "Is love just like the setting sun, that fades away to be undone Is love just like a million things, like stars along the cosmic strings Is love just like you and me, that falls apart so easily Does love not care about my heart, my hopes, my dreams, my thoughts Does love not see the agony the pain, the hurt, the misery Does love not feel any blame, remorse, or guilt for those it claims I never want to love again if love is love and it must end. Why must love love to feed, on regret that i bleed Why must love love to live on the weakness that i give Why must love love to hide from desire i hold inside I never want to love again if love is love and it must end. " so who wants to put a nice progressive beat to it and find a really hot chic to sing it. |
Winner has to be Lustral - Everytime (mike Koglin remix)
Deepsky featuring Jes Brieden - Talk Like a Stranger

I just have to say this is easily one of the coolest threads Ive ever read on a music board. Truly an original conversation and the fact there are so many great replies makes it that much better.
Ag and Nel - Holding onto Nothing
Rank 1 - Such Is Life
Lustral - Everytime
BT mixes of Tori Amos
RadioHead - Street Spirit = Awesome
TEARS FORM THE MOON!
Of course, I also heard Digweed mix in the Doors "Riders on the Storm" one night at Twilo in 2001

Oakenfold - Song to the siren
Robert Miles - One and One
Orbital - A perfect sunrise
WEll personally i need some prosac or somthing when hearing Olive - youre not alone,HATE IT!!!!
Anyway my 2nd depressing tune is PB&J -The Way
DJ Tiesto feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Battleship Grey
DJ Tiesto - A Tear In The Open
Scott Bond vs. Solarstone - 3rd Earth
although with 3rd Earth it's only sad right up until the melody kicks in and the beat drops around the 4 min mark. From there it's complete euphoria. Battleship Grey and A Tear In the Open on the other hand... so much emotion crammed into two awesome tracks.
I'd also like to add, pretty much anything by or including Sarah McLachlan. Delerium - Silence comes to mind, and while the Junkie XL mix is still a stormer, those vocals in World On Fire just oppose the bassline and bring the mood down. Guess that's why it works so well.
armin- yet another day
If you have been left by your lover and you still love him/her, I think the following tracks may help you cry all day and, most of all, all night! No way out...

EMPYREAL SUN feat. ELLES DE GRAAF - From Dark To Light (original mix)

CASS & SLIDE - Perception (vocal mix)
FIREWALL feat. KIRSTY HAWKSHAW - Sincere (Lange vocal mix)
Delerium feat.Jael:After All
it puts me down everytime i listen to it but i love it
Ok no trance here, but I have to agree with what someone else said.
Portishead - Roads has to be one of the most depressing songs ever written, I love it - and much of Portishead's other work. Some other great depressing vocals that I love to listen to are:
Massive Attack - Black Milk
Massive Attack - Prayer for England
Portishead - Numb
Portishead - Undenied (Could be more depressing than Roads actually)
Portishead - Mourning Air
Sneaker Pimps - Velvet Divorce
All of these just give me goosebumps from start to finish, such fantastic songs. There are also two non-vocal songs that stand out for me too:
Portishead - Theme from to Kill a Dead Man (The name says it all)
Orbital - Belfast (Original Mix)
I'll have a think about which Trance.
Britney Spears - Everytime
Lustral - Broken
