YEAH RIGHT.....they dont teach us much of that sort of stuff here in the US...besides, a good percentage of the population dont know who the 1st president of USA was.....and some still dont know who the current president is...

cant expect those ppl to know anything about other countries, they dont even know about their own here

>JM<

ps..as for the Dutch coins, i got some myself that i got when i bought something in Schippol airport on the way back to my states...

No, that's the queen of Germany.. I thought it was Joe DiMaggio or something like that

About the coin:
In Europe we get a new currency wich means all Dutch, german, french and some other currencies will be replaced bij a new currency the Euro. This means that your coin will become even more valuable beacause there will be less 'stuivers' available. I don't really know much about coins, but if it's a special edition the price will be likely to rise with the comming of the Euro.. But to be sure you should contact a dutch coin collector or someone who knows a lot about Dutch coins... Good luck!!

well...someone get me an article explain'n the importance of a 1987 coin, and ill be happy. other wise, woop t doo.

LOL I havent seen this thread in ages

Glad you digged it up. Keep the coin, soon wel will have euros

Posted by New Wave on Dec-17-2001 21:40:

"but if it's a special edition the price will be likely to rise with the comming of the Euro.."

OK, you are probably right dude, so my advise: put the coin in a safe.
The value will rise!!!
Hey know what, do you have any musea in your neighbourhood? maybe they wanna buy it and take care about the coin professionally.

Posted by lMIlk on Dec-18-2001 03:47:

is the coin really worth this much? or is it only so important to you guys back in holland?

Posted by New Wave on Dec-18-2001 09:08:

Why should it only be value (and so important) for us dutch guys?

If I got a very value dollar..it won't mean it's crap in Holland........? right?

Posted by lMIlk on Dec-18-2001 09:15:

i dunno...if there was a very important coin over here, i would think its important elsewhere but not as important

Posted by Sandman on Dec-18-2001 09:27:

example: You have a coin cald a rijksdaalder (2.5 guilders) here in holland
which where only made a couple of 100000's in that special year. Ppl use them over the years so have are not good anymore (are damaged). So the price rizes (because perfect rijksdaalders are becomming rare), and now comming with the euro all the dutch coins will be gone. So the coins will even get more rare, which will leave you with more money...

some "rijksdaalders" are 7 times there own worth for a simple coin. And it will only raise I tell you!

So keep your europese coins and don't sell them yet

Posted by New Wave on Dec-18-2001 09:42:

Well Sandman, we do not talk about the regular coins of Holland....it's all about the Special Edition Stuiver you know...
It's very value, cause their are a several coins of this kind...
The Rijksdaalder.......isn't that value as the SE stuiver.it doesn't even get close......

"i dunno...if there was a very important coin over here, i would think its important elsewhere but not as important"

why? the value stays the same..........

Posted by DJ Juno on Dec-18-2001 16:09:

well..ok then, if its worth so much, anyone wana buy it off me?

Posted by TranceFool on Dec-18-2001 16:10:

Its an SE stuiver because in 1987 there are only a couple of thousands made of that coin

Posted by astroboy on Dec-19-2001 02:46:

So Juno why don't you just call the number man? If there was a chance for me to make 10000 I'd learn Dutch in 5 mins and call every coin collector in the damn country!

PS....Damn you guys are cruel

no, not yet, right now, as i speak, im in cali, till jan 3rd
and the coins back in mass. um, when i get back, ill see if
i can scan the coin, last time i tryed, i had no luck. but ill
see what i can do. the bitch part, is that every coin place i call
in the states, near me, does not deal with over seas coins. i kept
on looking, and when i did get in touch with someone with knowledge
about the coin, from maryland, he said most likely the coin was worth
shit. and if i do call over seas, i dont speak what ever launguage it
is of the counrty calling. basically, to make a long story short,
nothing against all a ya, but i doubt the coins worth shit, if it
is, guess im a moron, if im right, well, woop t doo. anyone know
a website where i could see the price/value? lemme know, anywho,
im out, merry X-mas, and happy newyear

As you may now, the Euro is introduced in Holland (and the rest of Europe) now. And most people here in Holland have brought all their money (guilders and STUIVERS) to the bank. This should definately be in your advantage because all old coins have been melted and made into weapons or something. Good luck,

WTB.
