I totally agree with you Xavier, which is why I think that if Gerrard does go it will be the biggest mistake of his career not to play under a fantastic coach, which is Benitez. He I think can bring the glory days back to Liverpool, by keeping the nuclues of the team together and base it around the likes of Stevie G (much like the mighty Gunners with Henry, Vieira and Pires).
In all honesty though, I doubt Gerrard will leave and these reports might have been possibly leaked to unsettle the English side in their bid to win a major football title.

I dont know how to react. Im really pleased that Gerrard is staying, but at the same time he might just up and go at the end of next year and if the rumours were true we could have got �20M and Duff and Parker for him which would have been a good buy.
But dont get me wrong.. Gerrard is our best player and hopefully now his staying will mean Owen will stay, although i think we have a new star at the club in Milan Baros! whens Cisse arriving by the way?

What team/formation do you lot see yourselves regularly playing next season?
I'm assuming Baros will be third choice striker despite his recent form? And what kind of striker is Cisse?
my ideal team would be
kirkland
carra hyppia (new defender) riise
rosicky(if we sign him) gerrard kewell
baros cisse owen
but its not gonna happened.
and cisse is a really quick space runner kind of striker, but hes good at going past people and has a nice accurate shoot to. dunno how to explain him really
so chelsea is after milan baros now to along with juve.
Hoping Liverpool wont sell Baros after how hes played in europe, but i still cant see him starting ahead of Owen and Cisse, and im sure that Benitez wont play 3 in attack.
Aparently were also being linked to Baraja whos valued at �12M and Xabi Alonso, as well as a number of players from Malaga who ive never heard of before. As well as that Ayala and Aimar are still linked with the club.
Whats ure thoughts with the new Thai offer? Should they go for it?

sell Owen, start Baros and Cisse with Pongle (whatever his name is) and Le Tallec as back up strikers. With the funds Liverpool get for Owen they can actively pursue Ballack. No real need for Baraja or Alonso if Hamann stays also. I right sided midfielder is also a must.
cisse signed today he will be wearing the nr 9 shirt (diouf was a disgrace to it) lets hope cisse will bring honor back to the shirt!

First game, first win for Benitez then. 2-1 win at Wrexham, which isnt that great really, but all the europe 2004 players were missing so not surprising. 2 goals from le Tallec and apparently a great game from Pongolle.. surely hes not gonna start in the first team? Cisse only played 45 but made a good start. OK so its only Wrexham, but lets hope theres more to come from the reds.

and why do barcelona want to steal our players. first hyppia our best defender who the board says is not for sale, and he said doesnt want to leave, and now cisse they want! i mean the blokes only just arrived. id be shocked if he is sold or goes on loan, but frankly i cant see it happening. this is after they were looking to getting baros.. i mean i know were a great team but find another team to get ure players from!!
liverpool has accepted a ca 3 m � bid for danny murphy from tottenham.
hope he has some good players lined up cause danny is a useful player to have.
