Ok guys after exactly 2 months of testing my Sony MDR-CD280 Headphones , i can tell you that they are not that bad , the only thing that i don't like is the long cord ... oh man is there a way to reduce it or something ? ShadySlim u the man in headphones , help me

FastDJ, just go to radioshack or something like that and ask them to shorten your cord.. it's really not a problem, you can even do this by your own....

The problem is : i don'T want to shorten it and then regret
i'm pretty sure there's another solution

Do like I do - wind the excess cord (but not at either end of the cord) and then tie the bundled cord with a twist-tie (or rubber band). That way you can still have the original long cord when you need it.

i have the Sony MDR-V500 and they are great, got no complains and their one step down from the global standerd (MDR-V700)

Seeing as how all I've been doing this entire thread is try and figure out good headphones for DJ's, why is it that you decide to go against my advice?

I, as a person who knows pretty much what sounds good in "audiophile" headphones, want to buy or demo a pair of those MDR-V700DJs - not to listen regularly to them, but to see if they're really as craptacular as you say they are.

big name djs wear the v700s

Just wondering what everyone thinks ablut the big name guys wearing the 700s, In feb i saw Paul van Dyk and he was wearing the 700s then on the weekend i saw Tiesto who was also using the 700s by choice because after he was done he signed them and threw them into the crowd so they were obviously his to begin with, then i saw Dave Seaman and he also spun with the 700s, everyone pulled off flawless mixes regardless of the so called boominess so i dont think they are as bas as everyone is saying.

I agree with you on that one !!!
I saw PVD spin with MDRV-700.......than i saw him spin with some other headphones....it wasn't the best.

I think I know how those DJs can get perfect mixes using those Sony MDR-V700DJs...

Today I demoed the MDR-V700DJs on my portable CD player, playing jazz music - and I have to say they aren't quite as craptacular as Gluegun made them out to be. Sure, the bass is hyped-up, the lower mids are a bit recessed, the upper mids are a bit hyped-up... But I can get the same type of sound for half their price. Still, that type of sound that I described the MDR-V700DJs as may have been the reason for the flawless mixes from those top-name DJs who use them. (In other words, they're good for what they're designed for, but mediocre - not crappy - for what they aren't designed for.)

And some of my points were that they are designed for so little at such a high price...those kind of tools is what prevents most trance mixes from using the bass for anything more than keeping time... and they aren't good at keeping time in the first place, because the beat blurs. Granted, it is possible to adapt to this kind of sound mentally, but why pay more for a tool that works against you? Gyah. Get the cheaper, better, more durable, more versatile set of cans. Don't be like those big-name DJ's that bend over because Sony pays them to...Sony doesn't really WANT peopole to discover the V6, because it's so good that it makes most the entirety of their V### line and all but one model (and a few models they got rid of) of their CD### line pale in comparison. They don't WANT people to know about this gem--they want people to buy what they tell them to.

hey gluegun just thought u might like to know that Sasha uses the 7506's which is really similar to the V6's u praise so much, and he is a huge name dj who obviously goes for the quality of something vs the looks, he says they are the best phones for trance so maybe u are right lol ill have to see when i go buy mine. My gf is offering to pay 150$ Canadian and if they are more expensive then i can pay the rest so which do u suggest i get, keep in mind i only want them to strictly spin trance/progressive and not to listen, thanks

Huh? I assume that "some other headphones" that PvD had used to spin with were those headphones that were even crappier than the MDR-V700DJ's. Such as the MDR-V600's (Hey? Where's the bass? And the mids?).

7506 and V6 are exactly the same, for all intents and purposes. Get the cheapest one. You should be able to get the V6 for below $90 USD. Good luck.

This is an update of my experience with a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ's that I borrowed from a friend of mine that I had called "Mix2NAUGHT":

Sony seems to have a BIG variation of performance between different samples of the SAME model! Those V700DJ's belonging to Mix2NAUGHT didn't sound much like the sample I had demoed at Sam Ash (a musical instrument/DJ/pro audio store). Those V700DJ's that I had demoed had a rather boomy and slightly sloppy bass and peaky upper mids (that performance was typical for a pair of V700DJ's). However, Mix2Naught's cans had an overly tight bass with little deep-bass extension, and somewhat bright highs. I asked him where did he buy those V700DJ's - and he said he bought them from Best Buy, where he paid full list price.

Needless to say, I still like my four-month-old AKG K240DF's and my 11-year-old Sony MDR-V6's more than any of the MDR-V###DJ headphones.

Music lovers in responce to the headphone questions the more they cost the ritcher the sound but not all dj's want richer sounds most want bass and some want clerity. I currently use the sony mdr v500
and they sound really good at high levels but when u play rap or house where you have low levels of bass you get destortions that will always happen no matter what the level of volume.

i would stick with the sony MDR V500 as a good high level for around 130.00 canadian and low level or shit would be AMX ah40 pure crap but for 65.00 candian they do the job at higher levels.

Um... You are kinda hard to understand... and, uh, the headphones I was reccomending? They have bass, clarity, impact, don't distort, and sound good and accurate at all volumes, and you can tell waht is in the mix, even with lots of noise outside you, at all volumes...and they are cheaper than the one's you reccomended. And, what's this about "the more tehy cost the ritcher they sound". That's not true at all! There are DOZENS of high-priced crappy headphones, many kick-ass cheap ones, and not all expensive ones have that warmth and richness of sound that you incorrectly associate with high cost. Anyways, you ADMIT that your headphones have faults that disconvenience you; why do you settle for cans that don't do what you need them to do?
