What makes a tune mcprog?

Simple:

Step 1 should be "send it to GDJB so Markus can play it"

a)Work Really Hard On A Tune You Think Is Progressive Then Send It To Markus Schulz.

Step 2 Markus Schulz plays it for several weeks on GDJB which little mcprog addicts pee their pants yelling tune of the year.

Step 3 Markus Passes the tune to Armin Van Buuren and AVB features it on his New Tunes selections

Step 4 AVB plays it on ASOT For 50 weeks in a row and literally beats the tune inside out.

Step 5 Get it signed to avb's label (e.g. Interstate)
McProg Seal of Approval.

Current McProg Pioneers:
Markus S.
Perry Oneil
AVB

Current Tune Being Transformed into McProg Victim:
Interstate- I found you.

Conclusion:
Markus needs to stay the hell away from Progressive

sure mate, and now i want to rape you boi

I really don't understand how someone who's listened to EDM for 10 years can enjoy GDJB/ASOT. Your taste in music ought to have evolved by now, but it's a lost cause trying to convert you now.

Bye.

let people like whatever they want to like. Would you prefer radio shows were playing the stuff you like? Well theres a few that do so why dont you stick to listening to that stuff and fuck up about other people's taste?
I dont like "Mc Prog" or "American Progressive" but you dont see me whining about it in boards..if you want someone else to listen to what you consider good music is then introduce it to them instead of bashing their tastes.

actually the last 10 years

Why not just have another Tiesto bashing thread as well? So 2 guys have radio shows with songs from a genre that all sound very similar. Big deal. Just don't listen to them or else be careful what you wish for, because if everyone who likes ASOT/GDJB sound starts listening to what you like because you successfully marginalize them, you'll have to move on and bash that as well for being too popular and overdone. I hate country music, but I just choose to avoid it, rather than spend time trying to criticize those who like it. Not to mention that there are other people out there who are just as quick to bash all forms of EDM as not being real music because instruments aren't used in general.

Everyone already laughed at DJ Sammy, now everyone bashes Armin, A&B and Markus, there's plenty of threads about how psy/Goa suck, how Zabiela just uses a bunch of tricks and has no talent and how every other DJ on earth has others write their songs or uses Pro Tools, which is follow up with bashing songs for getting old, even though some haven't even been released yet. Just listen to whatever you like and enjoy.

Just give us our own "Progressive" forum. The reason I'm so pissed is because all I hear about is ASOT/GDJB, it's in my face all the time. And no, a forum like that wouldn't include McProg. You know why? Because it's not progressive. There's nothing new or innovative about it, and I have yet to see someone try to counter that. Oh, except maybe TigerClaw... but he can't back it up.

Not enough people.

Besides, why not make a techno, breakbeat and goa/psy forum while yer at it?

Your sig of yours indirectly shows me no difference as a hip-hopper who hates edm to the core.
Besides that, it also shows how much u dislike this board. Find one that u prefer more or stop whining.

One of the mods was saying that they were working on making a radio forum, so Tigerclaw can be content there posting his heart out about GDJB when it happens. The only thing I can really suggest is that you should post some threads about what you like for people to discuss to help break up the monotony a bit. Had Speedracer and all the "I Hate Tiesto, Armin, etc." threadstarters posted about whatever they like instead, there would only be half the number of posts about them on TA.

Thats because you elitists, regardless of how many threads you ruin with your negative bullshit, need to wake up to the fact that Progressive is not as popular as trance, and that the masses want to hear GDJB/ASOT. Get over you whiney selves and just STFU and listen to you empty souless beats or your prog from the "good old days".

there's nothing to back up. it's all about personal taste. you can't argue about taste. this whole discussion is irrelevant.

Dunno

Worst thread ever....I wonder why I gave it +1 post...

It's not about personal taste. TigerClaw claimed that the tracks played on GDJB are original and innovative, which they aren't.

Posted by Durrrtysouth on Dec-20-2004 19:52:

and you think you are original and innovative, and you aren't.

yeah my bad, i misunderstood your post.

but still, even if they are unoriginal, it's not your problem. go listen to something else and let the people who do like the fluffy formulac crap be happy

criticism pushes people, knowledge, art, etc forward, there is nothing wrong with it.

Posted by ACID_Tnce on Dec-20-2004 20:14:

its called evolution . One day this would happen the good old days were gonna pass and the new sounds would emerge . The question is are you able to follow with the new sounds or stick with the originals ?

good point. however, the people who critisize Armin are Markus are a minority. they have a loud voice, but they're still a minority as opposed to those who cream their pants over every tune that is played on ASOT or GDJB. so the "evil three", as tta likes to call them, are unlikely to change their sound. it happens to be very popular at the moment.

Markus is totally different live btw, he drops a lot more techy records.
