Posted by MiB on Dec-29-2004 18:19:

just saw a new amateurvideo filmed from the first wave on the news here in sweden now.. in a calm place.. imagine where it did major destruction..

-->CLICK ME<--

but it was not like a "movie" wave.. this one just pushed the water up and didnt do that major wall that i think much ppl has in the head.. it became more a flood/river with massive destruction..but still... damn... still trying to get hold of a friend from there.. =\

edit: phew he came home 3 days before it all and went skiing..

yeah ..about.. talked to him =) he had been there but got home like 3 days before it all.. and was skiing so the phone was of.. i know that he use to go there..

but all swedes are soooo upset at the gouverment to not send help earlier.. there are more swedish reporters there than aidworkers.. and gouverments answer to the reporters.. "well we dont know how u work"

ppl get better help thru emails and newspapers to find lost ones.. hmm..

but in 1 hotel there was 800 swedes and noone is found there so after these many days if they dont are in hospitals there cant be much to do i think..

I guess those footages that were managed to reach the internet showed the smaller waves.. doubt the higher and fiercer ones could made it to the net...

Because they don't get that big like Hollywood shows them, they just have huge amounts of energy to penetrate right into the land of the affected areas.

Death toll reaches 100,000
29 December 2004

The death toll in the tsunami disaster soared past 100,000 today - and is set to climb higher.

A total of 50 Britons are now confirmed dead and at least 100 are unaccounted for after tidal waves swept away resorts in Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and around the Indian Ocean.

Officials in every country today warned the final number of dead will be even higher as rescue teams reach remote areas...

Why has our small Canadian government given more money to this cause than a huge country such as America?

Actually I am looking at how to solve the problem.

Bloated countries need to fork up some cash so that they can get plumbing, drinking water, inoculations, and all of that stuff going before diseases takes a large toll.

What are your big ideas Kant?

100,000? Why did MSNBC just put the total at 80,000 about two minutes ago?

Posted by Camwin on Dec-30-2004 04:20:

I just found out there was a earthquake on christmas eve kms south of the south island of NZ, measuring 8.1. That's freaky shit. They say the 9.0 was related to this.

I find it weird too... I believe the death toll is at 80k+ mark at the moment. Someone pasted the link earlier that says 100k (reported on site ThisisLondon) which was inaccurate. Looks what's the headline on the main page now: Tsunami disaster toll nears 100,000

obviously the amount of money America is sending is gonna be stepped up since we practically always donate more than half the other nations of the world combined, this will be no exception, not to mention all the charity donations private citizens are sending to international relief organizations...plus we're sending troops there to help, so knock off your overly politicized bullshit and think like a normal person

I'm sad to hear the 9/11 donatations where mishandled. But i am so glad you say you are still donating money to this.

I really do think everyone who reads this post should donate and then encourage others to donate to make up for the people who don't, when they should.

I always imagine if i could go back and help people in previous era's who have faced similair tradgedies, but can't because i hadn't been born etc. This is going to be one of the greatest tradgedies of our time, and we can't just sit back and do nothing, when we can be doing something to help, now, and not just offering words of condolence ..

Do u know what i'm rambling about?

I know this is only trance addict, but i have been saying similair things to people in real life.

If you are able to, donate money..

www.redcross.org

www.unicef.org

credit or phone or get your parents to, get your friends to.

it's that simple.

every dollar can help a life.

this really is something where thoughts and prayers can do little.

money = help.

please donate.
