Let's just say Eno has contributed to electronic music just a wee bit more than Lange has.

I dunno if hiphop music is what people had in mind when making this thread, although it certainly is electronic music.

Then I think I'll nominate P Diddy for his great contribution to electronic music.

Well the creator of the thread put it in the opening post so I would assume so...I'm not really down with all this hippity hop music though.

I couldn't agree more. I would certainly choose Eno over Dre.

This is a valid nomination.

Posted by Sand Leaper on Feb-21-2005 02:20:

Why not make a seperate hip hop poll then. Things will be way too messy with it included, and way too many people will start arguing.

We've already got rock groups nominated whats wrong starting with hiphop, it could lead to polka, jazz and gospel

If those polka, jazz and gospel bands made an album that could've been released on Warp, go on and nominate them.

Posted by tribu on Feb-21-2005 02:27:

Nah. Im content with the current idea, though where Im going to go from here certainly raises some questions. There will be a minimum number of nominations to get to the next round which Im hoping will take care of some of the high on fanbase, low on substance producers. Hip Hop producers have been central to electronic music's development and I feel it would be a sham to leave them out. Several Hip-Hop producers and their contributions to the artform are invaluable.

Nonsense! Music For Airports has nothing on Follow Me.

Solar Stone

Posted by AlphaStarred on Feb-21-2005 03:17:

unfortunately, to your dismay perhaps, i ultimately find this thread improfitable due to the fact that many will have disparate opinions. If a particular artist has received the most votes it still means jack shit in the end...

Fuck Tribu, looks like you're still going to have to work for money Too bad this business deal of a thread fell through.

Posted by AlphaStarred on Feb-21-2005 04:09:

Don't take it amiss, it's a good thread but what i mean to say is that round 2, round 3, etc. and the winner at length, i really see no point to that...you may just as well leave it as it is

just my 2 cents, surely. Btw, beats n bleeps, you may want to peruse the various definitions of "improfitable."
here, i'll save you the trouble: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=unprofitable

Posted by tribu on Feb-21-2005 04:09:

I thought about this, and I decided that Blue was right. I was intentionally vague in my requirements to allow me to import names like Dr. Dre, and not to allow others to exploit the loophole I created for myself is wrong. Running the poll doesn't give me creative license over it. So I'll count Blues vote unless he instructs me otherwise.

I dont see this thread being very successful either, but it sounded good when I started it. If people are interested, Ill keep track of the polling somehow...if not, then no one will notice what happens anyways.

I apologize for being an asshole all day, I get like that sometimes.

Don't bother including my votes or nominations other than my original Lange one.

+1 for Mr Lieb thankyou tribu sir.

James Holden

2nd Sasha
3rd John Digweed

OK, i'll make a vote

Prodigy.

Without them, probably at least 50% of electronic lovers today will NOT be listening to electonica.

Follow Me, eugh, his worst ever track ...even so although I've liked alot of his stuff over the years, including him would be a joke compared to most mentioned in the list.

I'd nominate Chicane, personally.

I would like to give a +2 for each of these artists. I believe they have all been very important in bringing EDM to where it is today.

Btw, your list doesn't have a number of votes for Brothers in Rhythm.

Also, Portishead should have 2 votes because I voted them and you gave them a plus 1, I believe, hehe. p

Excellent point there. Part of the reason I posted the standing was in the hopes that people would catch my mistakes, duplicates, etc.
