I have nearly 600 records that I'd like to get rid of. Anyone interested, I'm in Santa Monica and will have stuff you'd like. Prefer to sell bulk loads, ie: 100 for $100.

PM for a list of what I have. Most will range from 99-04 prog house and trance.

The only vinyl I buy is old school techno. I don't buy anything else. Vinyl has gotten ridiculusly expensive, and I might only play a track once or twice. I already paid my dues with vinyl and it's time for me to move on. I use Serato Scratch Live with REAL VINYL. It feels exactly the same as vinyl cuz it is vinyl. Plus, I don't have to worry about scratching my record or it getting warped.

And as to Curly's statement about EVERYONE CAN GET THE MP3, not necessarily true. MP3's can be as hard to get as vinyl, if not even harder. Not everyone sells their mp3's or makes the public. I have some promo MP3s that were given specifically to me that if I make them public, people would know it came from me. MP3's also let you play the music upfront! Shoot, there's been times when a friend made a mash up in the morning, and I'd play the same day. Plus, it's a lot cheaper!

well, for someone like me who doesn't dj @ clubs, i don't mind spending 10 bucks on a song that i like cus it's just for my own personal use. but if i was a dj that played out every week, AND had to buy my own music, i can see why mp3's can be better. but with that being said...i just cant justify spending 3 bucks on a song that sits on my hard drive...maybe it's cus i work on the damn computer all day that when i get home i like to stare at my turntables and not my powerbook
i stopped buying cd's like 2 years ago when i got an ipod. now i just download albums from itunes and make my own mixes from vinyl for me to listen to while i'm in the car or the gym.

on another note...when i spend 30 bucks to see a dj spin, i kinda get bummed out when they are behind a fucking computer monitor the whole time. they are prolly checking their myspace or posting on TA the coolest thing for me is when i see a dj bust it out on some records. it's like 'this guy knows what's up' i remember when i saw oakenfold up there wiping records on his sleeve then just dropping a hard ass song...i was like HELL YA!! makes me wanna danse more than some guy clicking on a file.

much respect though to all dj's no matter what medium they use to spin. that's the beauty of the 21st century, we have so many options.

the end.

After seeing Sasha vs Zabiela I totally agree with you. It is a completely different experience when you hear someone breaking it down on vinly/cds as opposed to ableton cause you know all the work that goes into it. But this wouldnt stop me from going to see Sasha again cause he can really rock it. Now I just think that using ableton just cause you can mix a bunch of tracks and pieces of tracks, etc. isnt as exciting to me as a dj busting it out on the turntables.
