-- Why EDM is dead in America?

Got bored by 3rd page, so just to add my 2p
candykids/their foreign counterparts arent to be ousted just because you dont like how they look.
One of the things that drew me to the club scene was teh acceptance of different types of people.
Just because I dont go all lumo-coloured clothing with coloured dots on my face doesnt mean I should look down on those that do.
Elitism is a growing problem in the EDM scene, especially with loser chinstrokers who dont even know how to have a good time, because they cant dance and know they would look like idiots if they tried. So they sit back and moan about the people who are having a good time.
'Candykids', and I use the term loosley for the time being, happen to be an integral part of UK clubbing culture. Like them or loathe them, they make up the majority of clubbers in the hardhouse/trance scene, whereas the more 'upmarket' types with designer labels tend to be more breaks/prog orientated. The UK house scene is funnily enough not as superficial as one would think, if you avoid the commercialised side of it like Hed Kandi and Miss Monepennys.
I'm not a candykid, I have never been one either (they dont really exist in SA where I started clubbing), but I like the enjoy myself when I go out, I dance my ass off and often use glowsticks because in the right hands they look pretty wikkid.
*Kicks the soap box out from under Krysta_101's feet*
Now quit yer whining

Just read some of page 4
People under 21 shouldnt be allowed in clubs?
WTF!!!
That means 5 out of my 6.5 years clubbing I shouldnt have been allowed to do?
Just because the US is so up it's arse with their stupid age laws (Sure, drive a car and have a gun before you are allowed to have a drink
) doesnt mean the world's clubscene should abide to them.
Mebbe that'll be Bush's next agenda, 'The War on Age Limits in Foreign Countries'

You know, those ones who snorted their prescribed ritalin, jump around shouting "plur!" and chew on their glowsticks. They also tend to look like rejected extras from the movie Party Monster. |
everyone mustve went to lunch... or dinner depending on your location....
Meh, I just had lunch and am dealing with random shit at work currently. So replies are sporadic as I'm sure you can see

I really haven't bothered to read this debate. It's the same old story throughout the ages and I gave up on it way back in '94, when EDM was undoubtedly at it's peak here in the americas with the Eurohouse invasion (well, in Canada, at least).
I just wanted to say that Krysta's friend in the middle on the picture is mighty cute.
And for a side note...i saw you mentioned the movie Party Monster.
I hope you know that Michael Alig was one of the BEST people ever to come to the NYC club scene...If you ask most people he created the best times NYC had. He was the original NYC clubkid. Without him who knows what direction NYC would of gone (1995-1999). He made a HUGE difference for the better.
