Tiesto is the number one DJ because he and his agent/manager are masters of marketing. Its not due to talent that is better than anyone elses, but he has mastered the art of promoting himself. Ive also noticed that people who are just getting into trance tend to lean towards Tiesto style trance. I was at Ultra and all of my friends who had never been exposed to a live trance set or almost trance in general all said they liked Tiesto the best. Dont know why but thats what they said.

Tiesto fans take it up the ass.

hrm, seeing how he has a residency here every 2 months, and he played down in wmc, you should stfu.

Jason:::
Both Sasha & Zabi put me to sleep the last time I saw them... You should stop whoreing them. I mean it is also just as easy looking back and saying that Oaki played boring prog for years as well. Sasha's attack to playing boring for a while then dropping a neat track does not work with many genres. Fortunately Prog is one of them. You can strait up play something monotone & repetitive for a good thirty to fourty five minutes, then drop something sick. Because it basically "mind-fucks" you. And you can do it again, and again, and it actually works & sounds amazing due to the structure of the tracks that he is playing. With prog, the second you hear another bassline come in over the previous one, it just picks you up, and carries you to the next transition. Now he is attempting to play a less "hypnotizing & mind controlling" style the same way, as he does prog, and it is just dull at the moment. At least for me. Im sure when Sasha goes on to change his style once again, people will just look back and say, he is much better now then when he played all that weird electro stuff.

Good listening, not the greatest dancing, but thats just me. Im glad you all like him. To say that he has more energy then the trance djs out there, well id have to admit that even Tiesto & armin probably have more energy. I mean it has been maybe a hear and a half to two years since I have gone to a Sasha club night where he had the croud really moving well. And that is all enough proof for me. I mean the crouds presence has basically been non-existant.

I havn't really felt any need to get up and start dancing when ive heard recent Sasha stuff. Even if i get going, it doesn't seem to go anywhere. I mean im still amazed that people think Involver is a "dancy/clubby cd."

on Tiesto, its easy to bash him, seeing as he is a gimp. But to all you stupid clueless shits that think he wrecks every mix, you have got to get a clue. If any of you would get out and go to a club, you would know why.

This is true, and why did they like him? Well it's because he can play music that you can really party to, big hit tunes, and I've seen Sasha mentioned few times in this thread, he's exactly opposite, quiet prog. that can't make you move an inch.
To you that may sound stupid, but to a newcomer listener/party-goes, that's all that makes a difference. With that said I listen to neither of them, and hopefully next year there'll be someone else #1 because this is getting really old.

He couldn't be that bad. Or why did you go to the next gig so soon?

Hrm, maybe to go out and have fun? Does a dj have to be the best to go see him? It isn't like thoes are the only parties she has been to.

Sandstorm03 is right. I guess you don't know me yet. Besides going to Crobar (not because of Sasha but because there is nothing else to do) i like to jump on the plane and fly to see a really good DJ. and it doesn't matter if s/he is spinning on the west or east coast. I just go there.
Sasha doesn't make anybody move. Ah, sorry, I did see some drug abused kids jumping like monkey but i wasn't sure about their mental condition.
I do like "Involver" but this is not something you would enjoy in a club.
I would put it this way - people go to see Sasha just because they want to see Sasha, people go to see Tiesto because they want to dance their asses off.

ah, absolutely forgot, it was a topic about Tijs, lets go back to the subject. It was really entertaining

And you're certainly entitled to your opinion, which I'm sure several people would disagree with

i agree with both of you 100% there, tiesto is great at what he does and no one is better than him, imo... he should be number one.

that is the prime reason why threads like this are made...

Posted by _Ocean_Drive_ on Apr-19-2005 14:37:

The question you need to be asking is, why is this poll in existence?

I don't know of other genres that have an annual poll such as this? Are there trance music awards?

Why does every thread involving Tiesto, PvD or AvB end up in a who is better than whom?!! I've never known different on here, so I'm going to say PvD should be! Why is Tiesto top? 'cos he's the biggest name in trance, even if he beats PvD by a few mentions in magazine publications.

When it comes to criteria, I don't think it matters how you mix, whether you use a Windows 98 mix wizard or vinyl, it's the sound that comes out that matters.

I really don't think this poll really matters.

People listen to who they like 'cos of the simple reason that they like them, and this chart should not influence what they listen to.

I think Ultrabeat should be #1

the poll is top 100 djs. It is not genre specific.

Its funny how all these "sasha is boring" comments come from Nu NRG, Darude and Tiesto fans. It dosent suprise me they would see Sasha as boring since they dont have the slighest fucking clue of whats being played through the speakers.

Omg teh 1337... Ive probably listened to much more Sasha then you so save it for someone else...

Ive clearly posted my opinions about him, and have supported them. All you can do is try to bash me cause you think I only listen to Da Rude. Go ahead and do that as much as you want, if it gives you self fulfillment. Or you can actually try to back up your statements, which is probably never going to happen.

At present I'm not a fan of any of those three. But I still think Sasha is pretty boring right now.
