but yeah, well done to England, it was a pretty good showing by you guys

And by you, I honestly thought we'd thrown it away, I was sat slumped on the sofa with the dog and suddenly the appeal goes up, I look at it, then Billy Bowden does what every Kiwi loves to, give a decision for the Aussies to lose a game, and wow.

Full props to Warne (I tend to tread on my stumps too cos im always moving at the crease) to Brett Lee, Kasper the friendly ghost and Michael Clarke from last night. Next stop, Old Trafford on thursday, and if we'll ever have a better chance to take a lead in an Ashes tour, this is it. Hard luck to you guys, it was damn close

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!

I have to say, that was a pretty epic finish to a test match and it was the narrowest of wins for England.

Shane Warne had another great test, but Flintoff probably made the biggest difference in the match.

Good show England, and bring on Old Trafford.

P.S. Is anyone else pissed off that they aren't showing the Community Shield on TV here tonight? The only way we can watch it is if you have ESPN....

oooh i forgot about that i need to find some money from somewhere tho to buy a season ticket to the prem ppv matches, if we buy before sept, we get 50 extra matches for 50 (thats the equiv of just over 2 dollars a game) where if you buy seperately it's about $15 a game

See, I laugh at people treading on their stumps, but that is because of two reasons.
1) I played with feet nailed to the pitch
2) The ball kept hitting them before I could step on them

robbed!

australia's batting lineup needs to ask itself some serious questions! two tests, four innings...not one century maker!

hehe, my brother bowls at the low 80s on a back garden with plenty of bumps in it, i'm forever moving out of the way in whatever direction I can

As it happens, it was a good game that could've gone either way, that's what we should have, what's the point in thrashings etc when u can have edge of the seats drama.

yah i agree, if it's one thing i hate it's when a team wins by an innings and what not, goddam boring

we had that against bangladesh, we never went down past 3 wickets, so flintoff, Jones etc never even had a chance, we played a spinner in both games who got to bowl 1 over & not bat, no wonder he looked bored

WE WUZ ROBBED!!!!1

omg teh suspense!! fark almost made it in the end, but great game!! bloody poms hehe

its true.... great snap.. pity about the loss for the aussies.

i foudn it interesting the slant the aussie media took this morning in the papers. (i didnt see the dismissal or read the article) but it said in the herald sun - "but was he really out..."

what was that about??

there's debate about whether or not the glove was on the bat at the time, but i've seen commentary on 2 channels, and even darren lehman said 'oh no thats out' so if current players can think things are out, its easy to see how the gen public can

Posted by jizza on Aug-07-2005 23:47:

all you aussie ****s who cry robbed... diddums. what a fuckin ripper of a finish. i knew it would come down to some poxy form of dismissal cos god forbid flintoff or harmison would bowl line and length during the final partnership ffs.

Great match. No-one can deny that. I think it's a bit of a reality check for us after the first test whitewash. Could have been different if it wasn't for McGrath's mishap but that's life and one man doesn't make a team. As a team England are on the way up and we are an ageing side. Bring on the third test.

hehe, although if mcgrath was playing and he was in with lee for the last wicket i doubt we would have lasted as long as we did haha :P

that's true though, we are definatly an aging side, unless some new guys start coming through, right now apart from clarky and lee not much youth, england on the other hand is the opposite i think, oh well all countries go through there ups and downs, look at west indies now compared to what they used to be when ambrose and walsh etc: were at their prime.

im not sure whether it is just me but do any of you pommies think the captaincy of england is a curse?!? i mean from my memory atherton and nasser didnt have the best time of it in regards to batting when they took on the captaincy and now it is a similar issue with vaughn (well recently) . maybe england should have no captain then everybody can bat at the prime

Posted by Az on Aug-08-2005 15:58:

I very nearly had a heart attack

Posted by Ghostface on Aug-08-2005 23:20:

and now Brett Lee is in hospital.

Come on England if you can't beat us now you never will.

Posted by sthus on Aug-09-2005 00:17:

lol ... but you moron england did beat you so stop trying to be a smartarse ...

Of all the aussie players i like only a handful:

Damien Martyn (coolest guy on the team)
Justin Langer (for being an all round cool guy)
Simon Katich (Cause he deserved to be in earlier)
Adam Gilchrist (cause he was called Eric Gilchurch)

Anyways yeah, the rest are a bunch of tossers and so on so forth ...
especially Lee, when he got hit i was like ouch bitch but believe it or not you probably deserved tha tin some roundabout way ...

Did any of you by any chance happen catch what happened when lee hit tudor in the head ?

I don't think that was nice but hey since tudor wasn't as big as lee there wasn't as big a deal made about it ...

Anywyas yeah, vaughan is playing shit ever since being captain, playing decently against SA and aus are two different things, last time he was playing in the ashes he absolutely carved us, we had no chance against him .. he played mcgrath, lee gillespie, all of them and he was by far the ebst batsman ... the pick of the lot

So yeah they should make ashley giles captian cause hes not really all that great

Not off to a good start Australia. Dropping catches everywhere, i think 4 in total, plus a wicket on a no-ball.
