Your set was fine, Paul. "The Other Side" "Say Hello" "Birth of an Angel" "Holding On" were all great tracks. My only complaint about your set was that it wasn't long enough!!! WTF is wrong with the Amp, putting you on at 1:15am? That's fine at Space or Floyd's where the headliner can go to 5, 6, if not later. But with a closing of 2:45am, you had barely a 90 minute set! At that rate they could have just grabbed one of your mix CD's and played it!

And I couldn't believe that asshat on the microphone who kept talking Every. Five. Minutes. Unbelievable! "Inter City" was ruined by his "OMIGAWDJessica'sgivingfreeshotsinthecenter! Omigawd!Lookatthemhotbitches!" crap. I thought the clown who kept talking over Tiesto's UMF 2004 set was bad, but this bozo topped it!

As for the "earlier" music, I'm not normally one to rag, but damn, that was a terrible Mondo set. I came in around 10:45pm hearing some progressive breaks and harder trance mixes (like "As the Rush Comes", dated, but still a good tune), but it went to shit after midnight. WTF was I hearing? Break rap? It was awful, had no vibe and was a terrible lead in to your stuff.

Anyways, Happy Birthday, Paul. It was good to see you, Trancebrat, Club Goddess, Terry Bones, MaxDaddy, Dark Angel, Damon, Mel, Toni and all the others.

And to Mr. Morden, thank you sir, that is why I am not a big fan of the amp, hey they brought Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Suzy and Edgar but however there sets werent long enough, mondo needs to go and santana's sets should 3 hrs, this is some of the reasons why the amp is not getting the attendance u should be getting, anyways good seeing the crew, sorry I didnt really hang out, I really shouldnt of been there in the first place in my gear but thats another story

Yeah, that shit was whack, Paul only playing for 90 mins. or so, but it was def. a great set. Mondo's set was the most laughable I've ever heard. Me and the entire SoFLTA crew were making faces at each other and just plain mocking the shit. Hell, even Flo sad "WTFBBQ!!!" to me! More review (if I can remember, I'm still half asleep now) and a few pics (+ video coming soon)

Cool Santana, You were cool

Let me rephrase that - You were awesome. Whatta night! Thanks.

I was tempted to say that probably my post on being disappointment the last time around had something to do with you not playing any breakbeat stuff this time around, but then that would be taking too much credit for nothing. I saw a Santana who seems well set for the higher leagues. Good luck .

mrmorden and mdamon7278 have put a good summary of what's not right with Amps these days. The guy with the mic who doesn't seem to realize that no one goes to that club to listen to his half-assed humor and relentless shit is the least of the club's problems. It seems the club is caught in a dilemma about what it's target audience is, as is reflected in the gradual change of music-genre being played by resident DJs on saturday nights. In past it was a healthy mix of techno/trance/breakbeats with a sprinkling of hip-hop in between. Now, on a regular saturdays, it is mostly breakbeats with a sprinkling of trance with .

For some reason, Mondo is losing it big time. I had to say losing because he, in my opinion, is one of the better DJs and i have seen him set the house on fire in past. But that past now goes back more than an year - in past year or so, he is steadily declining on his 'choice of music' and mix skills.

I had a brief exchange of messages with 93.3 FLZ Saturday Night house party host Brian Fink and while he's not too sure, it seems Mondo may be under some pressure from the club management to play more "mainstream" (read hip-hop/breakbeat) music. Maybe an effort to pull in more "mainstream" crowd. In the process, Amps has lost it's regular visitors. Some have seeked alternatives elsewhere, the others have just given up on clubbing. Sad that it should happen with Amps and i only hope someone in the management wakes up or Santoro takes a stock of the things.

On a side note, Mondo seems to play awful tracks between 12:00 - 1:00 on a regular basis and i don't know why but i get the feeling that he is trying to cater to the "mainstream" crowd during that time. Maybe it's a club policy or something.

Hope the club survives. It's the only one that can even remotely cater to the techno/trance crowd around Tampa.

Smile And ClubGoddess was a pleasant surprise

I was amazed to see a girl walk up to me on the dance floor and say "Did you join tranceaddict recently? ... I am the ClubGoddess".

It was indeed a pleasant surprise to be recognized that way. Hats off to you, you must indeed be the ClubGoddess! It was nice meeting you. Also my apologies for making you talk aloud; i usually keep my ears stuffed with cotton buds to make sure when i wake up the next morning, i can still hear the birds chirping around the lake by my apartment.

Hope you enjoyed the evening and hope to see you around again sometime.

Speaking of ClubGoddess....what was with Carlos (orionthought)? He became a vampire for a little while last night...

I don't know what the hell that was, it wasn't even the high energy breaks I'm used to at the Amp (which I'm not crazy about, but at least it's some kind of EDM.)

Oh, good. The ghost of Lotus has migrated and set up shop at the Amp.
