How can you enjoy the music when you've heard so much better than poorly beat matched cross fades?

Wait, wait, wait, I meant to say...

DJ TIESTOCLES FOR TEH NUMBER ONE FERRIS WHEEL CIRCUS TRANCE!

so...how long was TIC spinning for? TIC is supposed to be four hours in the USA right?

...hmm trying to figure out at this moment whether i should attend TIC in DC when he comes October 21...i haven't REALLY gone to a Tiesto event since May 2003 in NYC and even that one wasn't so great...i would go though, just for the experience of it not being in a club

Let's put this into perspective. $200 (roughly the downpayment on a Yugo if it were still around) for a ticket to see the trapeez, or $15 to go see a local dj spin tracks you HAVEN'T heard BETTER than the number one dj in the world.

OMG TEH BUNNY BEATS OF TIESTOCLES!

I doubt they would sacrifice their reputation by throwing some clowns and contortionists on stage just to sell a few more tickets, but that's just my opinion.

HIGHLIGHT of the night...

...walking into Tiesto at 11:20pm

...first mix...

...ohh...its going off...

...ohh adjust the platter Tijs!

...aohh noo....ahhh...uhh...ohhh yuck!

Nice one Mr. #1

The number one DJ in the fucking world cannot beat match two records at a show thrown specifically for HIM and HIM only...with the BEST fucking setup he could come up with for himself to play on.

Tiesto is a god damn fucking joke and now I know it from FIRST HAND experience. What the hell happened to the guy who had passion behind the decks in 2002?

The setup was quite nice...not as impressive as TiC's in Amsterdam, but still better than anything we've seen here.

The lighting was alright but many lights were out of sync, and it seemed to have trouble following the music. Avalon's lighting > TiC LA

I can't really comment on the sound since I never went to the front of the floor, but it sounded very good although the highs seemed a little over saturated.

Tiesto played some good tracks, in fact the tracklisting is really not too bad...

..but...

INTERMISSION with fucking acrobatics and pre-recorded music in the middle of a "set"..

What the fucking hell?

Why not just have a damn monkey up there pushing play on good tracks, since thats all Tiesto hasgoing for himself at the moment (track selection).

And then...after the intermission and the dancers...(cool but I go to concerts for the music/headliner)...

Tiesto does one good mix...and then...fades out of the next track...lets the crowd cheerhim on...pushes play and fades into the next track.

This happened MORE than once.

A little later, I heard the beats going off again (confirmed by two other DJ's with me)...going more off...thewn ooo the entire trainwreck to be fades out...

....and the he BLASTS in the track he had mis-beat matched.

I'm sorry this is just fucking RIDICULOUS.

THE NUMBER ONE FUCKING DJ IN THE WORLD....

...CANT BEATMATCH.

REGARDLESS of me liking trance vs. prog...

...you cannot deny the fact that he just...cannot...fucking...MIX.

Which is a damn DISGRACE for someone who is supposed to be #1 in the world...I.E. SKILLED, I.E. PROFFESIONAL, I.E. FLAWLESS

Its not like he had one or two fuck ups...okay...I fuck up on Ableton too...it can happen.

Tiesto just had SHIT mixing accross the board for the entire time I was in there 11:20 -> 1am

He'sa joke...plain and simple...it tranceds whatever genre you're into...hes just NOT a good DJ anymore...and he DOESNT FUCKING CARE.

We watched him sit there with his top of the line sound setup and system, as the beats drifted off...and he sat there smiling...without laying a FINGER on the platter...

This is just NOT acceptable for the #1 DJ in the world...

I wouldnt even place him in the top 50.

And to those arguing about who can pull more people...personally...I don't fucking care. I don'tgo see a DJ based on how many people they can pull...Britney Spears can fill a Stadium...but she still sucks...

So baisically...huge dissapointment...and I was hoping that he would redeem himself...

You're a dumbass. Where does the dj mag poll say vote for the best skilled, talented, dj? It is to vote for your favorite dj. If you're gonna nit-pick everything, stay home. I saw the Crystal Method do a dj set the other night and they fucked up left and right but it was still fun. Forget about waiting to hear nisnatches and trainwrecks and go enjoy the show as if it were you're first event.

Me too.

Nothing against the guy, as a matter of fact I enjoy the latest ISOS. And if he were to play a club close by I would be there tonight.

It's just events like this don't interest me.

I go for the music . . . not the trapeze.

I have no complaints anymore, well except that it ended way too soon. The whole show/concert made me forget how disorganized the lines were to get in but once in, I was sporting this -> all night.

Would I go again? Yes I would, most definitely.

I right there with ya on this one!

On a different note, I didnt see anyone allllllllll night. Well, actually I ran into someone I never thought I would see...Dave Dean. I hope I wasnt too f'ed up. lol

You're fucking retarded.

This is the number one DJ in the world...not some bedroom guy who just got his first gig...

Christ...now wanting to hear a good DJ means you're killing the scene what the fuck have we come to...

anyone know if the mp3 of the set will be online anywhere? would really like to hear it

Posted by vxman on Aug-23-2005 18:35:

i have no say to who should vote who as #1 DJ. do whatever you wish.

my problem is that when so much is made of these people, they overcharge. isn't this the same tiesto plays for $20-$30 at colorado and san diego? people are already talking about plans for TIC NYE. i am guessing these are likely vampire promoters, but for the same price, you can find much better entertainment.

it may seem like we are analyzing him too much. if i go out for a dancing, i would not care what dj is doing as long as he plays something that does not bother me. of course, i won't pay $70. if somebody has a tag that says #1 and charges twice other djs, he better be doing well for that #1 stands for. if tiesto loses #1 title, let's see how many he can draw even if he puts the same show.

if he was truely #1, there would not be a problem critisizing him. in the meantime, if we nitpick, none of the djs is any good, especially the self-proclaimed ones on this forum are crap.

My review.

We arrived at 8:15pm. To our surprise, the line was super long. I guess with what we paid, and a venue the size of this, we assumed there would be more than ONE entrance to handle everyone arriving at the same time. We got in about 15 after 9.

After plenty of pre-party drinks at the hotel, and now standing in line for almost an hour, at this point, we both needed to use the rest room in mean way. And this is something I cant believe no one has mentioned in their reviews. Was it not INSANE that there was just ONE bathroom on the lower level? (NOT counting the bathrooms in the VIP area since most people did not have access to that area.) Is it just me, or is that CRAZY!!?!! So we went from standing in one line for almost an hour, immediately into another line for another 15 minutes. Poor girls had it even worse!

Its been mentioned that there were close to 10,000 people at the show. At least 8,000 (guessing) of those had to have been general admission floor/non-vip and to have ONE bathroom. I just dont see how that is even legal, with fire code rules and what not.

Anyway, this meant that we missed the very beginning of the show (Tiestos introduction) which was a big bummer. :/

I guess maybe a reason it hasnt been mentioned by anyone else, is because once we were in, and had used the bathroom, and made our way into the arena, the atmosphere and music made us forget about the bad line experiences.

We had and AWESOME time. We had really been looking forward to this for a while, and Tiesto and his show did not disappoint us.

The sound was excellent. The circus folk were interesting. The lighting and rigging were incredible. The crowd was great. So many people jumping up and down in unison so into the music. Definitely, GOOD TIMES. And Tiesto he was a lot harder and faster than I expected, but thats not a bad thing. Yes, he had a couple moments when I kind of cringed at the beat-matching, but it wasnt anything horrible. The stopping of the music between sessions or whatever I could have done without, but again, it didnt ruin it for me. I loved how he played some music I didnt know, and even loved it better that he played some music that I DO know.

My favorite parts of the show were Love Comes Again, Just Be, As The Rush Comes, and the finale with all the confetti. The BEST part for me, was when he played Suburban Train. In general, the place was going ape-shit all night which was awesome, and totally enhanced the experience but when he played that song, the place literally exploded! (Plus, its my favorite Tiesto song so I might be a little bias on that one.)

This was a first for me as far as events of this concert type but I almost didnt leave the same spot on the dance floor all night. The drink lines were to long, and I didnt want to miss any of the show so I ended up just getting lemonade whenever I wanted anything to drink (since there were no lines for that). I ended up drinking 1 vodka redbull, and 3 lemonades and came back to the hotel with tons of cash, which I normally would have dropped on booze.

Couple other things notable. For an all ages event, very few kiddies showed up. Guess maybe the price tag kept them away for the most part. Second BOY was there a lot of eye-candy at this thing. When I wasnt entranced by the music/show, I was admiring someone beautiful dancing next to me.

Id do it again in a heartbeat, and hope we get something like this again.

Hi Sylvia (it's Trin! ) I was hoping to run into you but nada! Glad you enjoyed the night. Anyway... most of us went to enjoy the music with people we know and don't know. We make the best of what we have and can while we still can. It's funny to read all the negative comments and such that some people post but that's OK cuz none of that is going to change ANYTHING!
TIESTO was here! We went, saw, listened, and danced! We go to events for a good time and we had a good time. We were able to share some good times with other people that were also there to enjoy the given night. I could care less if Tiesto is #1 or if he's #100. Tiesto was able to bring in the masses and I know the majority of peeps were happy with the event. Hellz even my B/F was quite happy and he's one that always seems to bitch about something.

Those that complain, will always complain no matter what. Go out for the fun of it and stop trying to find fault with whatever the DJ did or didn't do. You all seem to forget that no one is perfect and neither are the things around you. Be happy and glad that you have the opportunity to see, do and experience things that others can't. It's really not that hard. Really.

The party should complement the music and vice versa...

thanks for sharing your pictures and video clips! does anyone out there have a clip of the asian drummers?

Posted by wackadoo on Aug-23-2005 22:05:

First off must say THANK YOU for the pictures and videos!! Secondly THANK YOU for the reviews, reading them has brought me back to the night. And for my review....
I started the night walking into the VIP section which IMO was really nice, open bars, couches, bathrooms, etc. The lights went down and the place erupted, I began my journey through the see of people. I landed about 3 people back from front and center. I watched the video opening and the music began, explosions!!! WOW.WOW.WOW
I stayed in the front for about 3 tracks then decided I needed some space to dance, so I went back to the back and watched in wonder and ah. It was amazing to see so many people with smiles from ear to ear dancing and having the time of their lives. I danced the whole night - a few outside breathers. I had an amzing time!! Would recommend it to anyone to go and experience the event. Seeing and feeling the happiness & energy was worth every penny!!

I think the only reason he is analyzed and critisized so much is because he is the #1 Dj in the world. Its probably why we have the saying, "Its not easy being number one." Everyone and their mother will find something to nit pick at, or just straight up hate on you because they are not #1.

I'm sure when Tiesto is dethroned by Armin this year, next summer everyone will be on the hate Armin bandwagon. "Armin sucks at this," "Armin can't mix for shit," "I went and saw Armin Spin tonight and there is no way he should be the #1 Dj. I think a lot of people on these boards are losing sight of what he scene is about. Its about going out the the club, where EDM is meant to be heard, (not sitting behind your computer and being over-analytical), and enjoying some great tunes with people who love the music just as much as you do, REGARDLESS of the Dj who is spinning them. If you are a true trance/EDM fan and went to TIC and had a bad time, then something is truely wrong with you. I mean Tiesto In Concert at Staples Center, try and wrap your head around that for a second. If someone would have told me five years ago that a major Dj is going to headline a concert in a professional sports arena, I would have laughed at them and then told them to get out my face. We should be so lucky to have something like this in the US.

And for everyone moaning and groaning about the acrobats and drummers and music stoping. Chances are that if you went to this concert, you have seen TIC Dvds 1 and 2, and in both Dvds he stops the mix every 5-7 tracks. I mean you know there is going to be some other productions besides just Tiesto spinning, so why get bent out of shape over it. Doesn't anyone ever go out soley to have a good time anymore? When did everyone and there mothers brothers uncles cousin become a damn critic?
