I fucking hate laptop DJs. If your doing it for a radio show or a promo mix it's fine but if you make a regular thing of it or do it in place of actual mixing, what's the point of doing it period?

If Tiesto started laptop DJing I'd lose any credibility I still have for the guy.

Omg Ablehax sux. Whats the point of going to see a dj if he isnt twisting knobs and slamming faders? Thats how dance music is made lol.

So you can play music to a crowd? Who gives a toss about 'how' the sound is put out there, seriously?

Vinyl, CDJs, Laptops, Synths.... I don't care.... I just care that it sounds good. Period.

What I think about laptops and computer software, is it shows up the bad DJs or the posers. DJs who use vinyl / CDJs give the impression that they can DJ (depending on what your definition of 'DJ' is), because they are always fiddling around with needles or finding CDs etc. BUT the truth is, laptops and computers take out all the fannying around with placing needles / finding sections on tracks. The real skill can be shown when you know how to progress BEYOND vinyl / CDJs and manipulate incredible techonology in front of you. Ultiamtely, when it comes to clubbing, I don't care 'how' the sound is produced, I care about 'what' it sounds like.

Tiesto isn't that bad Clovis

I haven't listened to trance for a few years but a friend had a free ticket to his show in Sydney last year so i went along to check him out. It was a fun night out and i thoroughly enjoyed myself, hearing old favourites like Suburban Train and Silence.

His mixing was fine, i don't remember any trainwrecks or noticeable fuckups. Besides, i was too busy having a good time enjoying the tunes to care about a little thing called mixing

I don't really give a toss about trance these days but I can still enjoy some cheesy hands-in-the-air goodness every now and then.

To each his own.
