Really Great Party the Guv threw we came from Montreal a Bunch of People and I was pleasently surprised By Markus and Blank and Jones were sick even more so then Swirl. Armin well Its Armin I Loved his set even though it was too hard sometimes I even got to chat with him a bit. For people that think that Armin Only plays same old school trance forget about it hes changing a bit his style and I think its pretty good not that before it wasnt. Hes a Dj not necessarily a Trance Dj like everyone gives him that title. I gotta say the energy in front of the Dj boot while he was On WAS SICK Digweed was ok but looks boring in person Deep Dish I ve heard better.

wow amazing party, better than last years

glad i flew up for this

blank and jones stole the nite----unreal pure trance energy.........ive never seen a room go off like they had it going.....i was shocked

armin played like a champion, banging it hard, best set ive seen from him in two years....about time......if only the asot fluffmaster played like that all the time....im hoping for a repeat performance at his SPACE debut in october.

so the party was streamed? are the sets going to be available?

Unfortunately, due to the long lineup for the KH, i missed all of Markus Schulz. Usually the lineup is long (length wise), but in the past it would move rather quickly. THat wasnt the case tonight unfortunately, and i missed one of the DJs i wanted to see the most.

Grayarea - Dont know why they were even on the bill. A couple of songs were ok, but for the most part, i didnt like it at all.

Blank & Jones - The DJs a wanted to see the most that night. Absolutely great set. I loved the whole thing, they owned the night IMO.

Armin - Once he came on, it was obvious they turned the system in the KH a lot louder. I think they should of done this when B&J came on. I can only comment on the first 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Honestly, i was dissapointed with it. There were a couple of good tracks played, but overall i didnt like it so much. Armin has a tendency to save the good stuff for the very end, but my gf and I didnt really feel like there was much reason to stay longer.

Overall, a fun party =)

Media guestlist screw up - took me half hour to get in...no biggie I did not mind waiting. Thank you PAT for being aggressive because I was just going to go home...This happened to a few of my friends - thank God everyone made it in o.k.

DEMI KILLED IT - for me: BY far the BEST all night. Kind of reminded me of Lawler...Special mentions to Grey Area (very cool shit) and Andy C in the DnB area....

Congrats to ETN fora successful live streaming...hugz!

WAY TOO crowded for me...did not like that there was such incredible music but I could not move....Set up as far as the way you had to go around the entire club kind of sucked.

Loads of love to everyone I had met and seen....LOVE YOU DETROIT CREW!!!!!!

*** This is MarkT posting from chrismack's account because I'm a dumbass and can't remember my password and the post-party has not ended...beer + thai + uber trance tunes spinning all day and night long ***

solid solid night...I'm always wary of these big events, but this one rocked.

Marcus *ripped it up* in KH to open the night...hadn't heard him since his appearance at Guv in '04...this man is a brilliant producer and a wicked DJ...aweseome set!!! I would love for him to come back on his own in Guv...one of best nights for me was that '04 appearance for sure...love his style!

greyarea...never seen them...great idea, unfortunate execution...the sound system was *fucked* for their set, so I took off for the tent.

Nathan Barrato was dropping some great tracks...This is Sick...WICKED TUNE! that almost made my night...cool to see Steve (cereal_something ) and Sara in the tent

Headed up to the lounge, ran into Graham, RJ and Margaret (send the pics!)...Digweed was rippin' it...dropped a track or two from his recent Essential Mix which was *awesome* to hear as it's in the regular rotation at home...very very happy that I managed to catch a bit of his set.

2am...time for Blank & Jones...and HOLY F**K...UBERTRANCE!!! Hate to say it, but B&J upstaged Armin in a big way...such a good set of pure, no-nonsense TRANCE!!! My first time catching them and they were beyond amazing...trance the way it was meant to be played

Armin is Armin...no offense Tijs, but Armin is the #1 DJ in the world...talented producer, excellent DJ, and gets the crowd involved like few others...his energy and enthusiasm is absoultely infectuous...proggy hard set, as is him norm now...but at the end he dropped some monster tracks...Marco V's mix of Clocks was cool to hear, along with Cafe del mar - Energy 52.

bailed partway through to hit the skybar for some air and to catch a bit of Demi who was spinning some lower key house...nice to see Nat and Frank up there...after a breather, headed back to KH to shut the place down around 8:30. I can't ever remember that many people being in KH when the lights came on.

Hot as hell in KH all night, but plenty of room to dance...sound system was *shit* after B&J...they really need to fix that...otherwise a very solid night...well enough organized and not overly rammed at all in KH.

it goes without saying that I will NOT be at work tomorrow

Posted by Tordan on Sep-06-2005 03:00:

Marcus was on when we arrived in KH and he was doing a great job. Good energy. The only problem I had with his set was that for many of the tracks he dropped, I'm used to hearing the trance mixes of them so the proggy mixes seemed a bit weird to me. Good set nonetheless.

Second time I've seen grayarea and yet again I did not like them. More than anything the sound was completely distorted no matter where I went in the KH and I couldn't understand a word the guy was saying. So I left KH and took refuge in the tent which was quite pleasant.

Danced on the stage at guv for a good 45 mins to Digweed's set before heading up to the Drink for High Contrast. I had been waiting to see him live since I heard his 2003 essential mix. Unfortunately, he did not live up to my expectations and it wasn't really his fault. His MC Caddy Cad sucked ass... the guy wouldn't shut the fuck up and drowned out the music. I stuck it there for as long as I could then headed back to KH for B&J.

Wow, B&J was throwing down an insane set. I'd have to agree that this was the best trance set of the night (sorry Armin)... everyone was going abusolutely nuts. I'm no good with tracks names but the set was high energy and had good flow. That's all that matters.

I didn't want to leave in the middle of B&J's set but I could not miss my reason for my being at LOL4... namely, Andy C & GQ. OMFG... they had the Drink jumpin. They never disappoint... absolutely love these guys. "someone gimme a lightah!"

For the next 4 hours I went between KH (Armin), Guv (Deep Dish) & the tent. They were all hammering out great tunes and drained me of whatever energy I had left. The last 2 hours of Armin set was great... lots of classics which is what I wanted to hear!

Big up to all the TAs... you guys were everywhere. Saw some faces I haven't seen in a long time... you know who you are! Yet another LOL with my best buds loconet & loca... wouldn't be the same without you guys. My next party will prolly be Carl Cox next month. See ya'll on the dance floor.

edit:
damn, how could I forget the best part!!
So we're walking back to the car after leaving KH. I had my head down becuz I was exhausted. Suddenly I hear Lauryn who was ahead of me say, "thank you, Armin" so I look up and right there in front of me is Armin, less than a foot away! All I could muster up was the same thing Lauryn said and shook his hand. hehehe... that was pretty cool.

Posted by Streamline on Sep-06-2005 03:01:

Labour of Love was a somewhat let-down for me.

Mark Oliver - Man this guy knows his crowd, never dissapoints. At Above & Beyond he
hyped everyone up playing an amazing set and he did it again at LoL.

Markus Schultz - Great 30 min set in my opinion, w/e he did after just plain sucked ass.
He tried to save it with Adrenaline and Satelite, but most of his tracks were just lulled out and boring. Sorry guys wasnt feeling it at all...

Grayarea - Not my style but began to enjoy them after a while. I really think it was Markus's fault that these guys really
didn't get much attention, almost everyone went to check out Digweed @ The Guvernment. Big mistake...guv was packed
to the max so I just went back to the KoolHaus.

Blank & Jones - These guys are pure energy! Loved every minute of thier set. They made my night more than anyone else,
even Armin. MR.BRIGHTSIDE was wikked, I couldnt see anyone who was not enjoying that moment.

Armin Van Buuren - A great and entertaining set. Loved some of the classics he played and the tracks from his Shivers CD.
No Viola though...but Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar was quite a nice treat, too bad I missed that lol..

Went home @ 7:30 am, was fucking tired and soaked from sweating. I think I must have downed 10 bottles of water that whole night.

Musical Highlights(no dj order):

>Zocalo (what a tune!)
>Speed of Sound (what remix was that?)
>Air for Life
>Dogzilla - Without You (2X)
>Scott Mac - Damager 02 (Mac Zimms Remix) Did anyone else fucking lose thier minds to this song!!! wow hearing it live was increadible!
>Shivers
>Adrenaline
>Perfect Silence
>Mr Brightside (thank you B&J)

All these songs put a huge smile on my face, I loved it

Things that really pissed me off:

-people who like to cut infront of you right when the build is happeneing and you have no goddam choice but to stand and do nothing instead of dance and enjoty the song!!
-THE B.O!!!
-The built guys who cut infront of everyone when Armin was playing!!!
-cracked out Asians

I think overall I would not attend one of these "All Access" type of events again just because its too disorganized; they let way too many people in.

6.5/10

EDIT: Forgot to mention some of the TA's I met

endlesswave - nice talking to you man, your advice was great! Made so much sence

MaxTO - nice to see you again

Orko - Caught up with you during Armin's set i think.

Tracey and bf - Sorry to hear about your night, but thanks for saying hi! Nice to finally meet you two!

Posted by AdReNaLiNa on Sep-06-2005 03:08:

oooooh this thread is making me want to kick myself for not going to this event

I'm particularly upset about missing some of my fave tracks like
Dogzilla - without you, Adrenaline, and that I can't believe I missed that Not Another Suburban Train finale(kick!)

I vow to myself never to miss Armin in town again..
Fahad, I feel guilty for not being there as I have a feeling that together we could get our way and get Ridgewalkers to end up on Armin's turntable!

Hello all,

I rarely post here, but meeting bunch of TAs for the first time last night, just wanted to say it was really great meet you all. Few I can recall is tiestoforlife and Wayne. Wayne, it was really fun hanging out, and thanks to you I had a really good time in the latter part of the night. You got my busniess card, so keep in touch man!

I took John's advice and got there a bit early around 10:15, and got inside in about 20 minutes. However, I was quite amazed how friends who got to the line 30 minutes after I did had to wait 2 hours to get in!

I actually felt sorry for the people who had to miss Markus Schulz waiting in line. I personally went to LoL to see this guy and he did not disappoint. I do agree his mixing wasn't silky smooth, but the vibe and the energy was incredible. Grayarea kind of killed that energy (at least i think), but B&G and AVB more than made up for it.

One note for guvernment: I think it was really great they put up the set times on the projectors, and they should keep doing this. (although it was next to impossible to move to the next room!)

cheers!

Shawn.

Just got home a few hours ago... ill post a review to come soon.

armin is my god.

being with everyone dancing and meeting more new TA faces were most the highlights of my night.

i love TAs and the vibe they carry. a million friends in a million places (in the club)

-jem-

*hugs* and *breasthugs* for ALL!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Tordan on Sep-06-2005 03:17:

One observation I made last night... the special event security staff (not the regular dumasses in guv) were very pleasant and treated everyone (from what I saw anyway) with respect. It was nice not being told to "get the fuck out" after Armin closed KH.

viola and suburban have to be my all time faves

Im with you on that one

Posted by djole071 on Sep-06-2005 03:26:

First of all.. for fucks sakes its pretty disrespectful to spell "Markus Schulz" wrong on the flyer, the website, and the schedule screens lol.. but whatever, the people who did that are obviously retarded...

Secondly, the look of kool haus was shit, decadence was way better (and the dj stage on the opposite side was better IMO), im pretty sure if you bring a big name like this at least make the place look a bit nicer when you're capable of it..

I didn't really have a problem with overcrowdness in the Kool Haus, I still had room to dance, even up at front

Katana - Play It Loud & Greece 2000 (Mark Norman Remix) <-- absolutely lost it to these ones and yeah Damager 02 was off the hook!

Armin never dissapoints.. hands down the #1 DJ in the world, cool guy too You can tell he absolutely loves playing in Toronto. Overall great party, as you would expect from a lineup like this

The only sad part is we have to wait another 6 months to see him again

ok so after reading carefully through 14 pages of posts there really isnt much to add, but i'l do a short review anyway...

Got to the club at around 11pm and saw the MASSIVE line-up, thinking OH shit we're never getting in. Luckily we met up with some of our friends who were right near the front and got in within 20 mins.

Inside: The club was packed beyond capacity! Im sure there was well over 7000+ ppl in there, but we didnt let that ruin our mood. We chilled in the Drink and d'lux for a bit before hitting the koolhaus. Spent the rest of the night in the Koolhuas and tent/smoking area.

SHOUT OUTS: Everytime i go out to one of these events i always tell myself im going to meet TA's yet i never do. However last night was completly different. i was celebrating my pre-bday party and what an AMAZING night thx to all of you. In particular thanks to VERTIGO who made an effort to introduce me to all the TA's in the Koolhaus dancefloor... Martin, StereoPrincess,Endgame, laura, dan, Cuzo and a bunch of others i dont remember all of ur names but i know ur faces were familiar from NATS bbq. Also big thx to KARIM. ( u saved my night buddy) Just in case your wondering i was the guy with blonde hair about 6ft wearing a pink button shirt and shades.

Music: spent most of the night in the Koolhaus, Blank and Jones were absolutly amazing. Arming was good as usual, i must say i enjoyed his set in march alot more.

Highlight: Armin comes on the decks. Scans the crowd. Im waving my hands up in the air, he points straight at me and says " i remember you" i was like Whaat???!? did he really remember me from Decadence back in april. Also another highlight was when the bouncer let one of my g/f, who was also celebrating her bday, up on stage to dance alongside the go-go girls. We took many pictures and hopefully i will get a chance to post them soon.

THANK YOU ALL FOR AN AMAZING NIGHT and i look forward to partying with you in the future.

well after an INCREDIDBLY rocky start, LOL turned out to be completely worth every single one of the 7.5 hours it took us to get there...
by rocky start i mean the craziness that ensued within the lines to get in. we showed up at about 12ish, and the line was down queen's quay and completely wrapped halfway down the other side of the building. we certainly didn't get anywhere fast, as many of you experienced.
now... i don't have a problem waiting in line. especially when considering that yes, perhaps showing up a bit earlier would have served all of our best interests. however, we were about halfway down the block of the front of the building after waiting god knows how long, when all of a sudden we see the back of the line charging at full force around to the entrance side of the building. we assumed they opened another line somewhere and decided to stay in the one we were in, as it had began to move very rapidly. little did we know they closed the entrance to the guvernment and now the only way to enter was through KH. sOoOo lucky for us, we got to be put at the END of a line we had been waiting for twice as long as the people in the front!!!! now really, wouldn't it have made alot more sense to simply redirect the fucking line from the guv entrance over to the KH one??? as opposed to telling a few people at the very end of that shit to run quick??? i don't think i got in until about 2 30 or so but once i did, i pretty much forgot how pissed off the guv had just made me.
avb was UNQUESTIONABLY the highlight of my night/life... i've seen him before @ spirit in ny, but that set had NOTHING on last night's. he's not just a great dj but an awesome fucking performer!! the energy in that room was unbelievable!
B&J was a good time, wasn't to crazy about what i saw of digweed.
only really met one ta... but i don't remember his name. he did have a black wife beater and sunglasses and gave stellar light shows i think there was an F in the name somewhere lol regardless, all round good people! you rocked man!
my friend that i was with met a tota too during deep dish. she thinks his name was jp??
all in all, yet another trip up top for the books! thanks tdot!!!
oo ya one more bitch, after armin ended, there was absolutely NO entering the guv to see the end of deep dish's set, which apparently carried on for like another hour or two and believe me i was reeeeaaadddddy tooo GOO!!!!!!!!!! that SUCKED!! ahh well, perhaps it was for the better good... checkout of our hotel was 12, so i barely had enough time to get home, sober up and shower before we were on the road. notice how i didn't say sleep... GOOD NIGHT!

For some it is, and its sad because all I did was put on some Speed Stick and that was it. Almost 10 hours of sweating and nothing but the absorbed smells of weed and cigarettes

WTF IS WORNG WITH PPL!!!!
