shamez likes baseball

but yeah my fave player goes to the Braves now, ewwww, sadly I agree with members of Juice and yeah Edgar is slippin up lately, he has some lingering injury probs and probably more that he keeps quiet.

Mets sign Valentin! give em the title now!!.........................

Dunn=this generations rob deer, dave kingman....couple of players that never helped give its teams any kind of success anytime...

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Dec-09-2005 03:54:

this has got to be the most active winter baseball season to remember .. so many players shifting and moving ..

it all started when the marlins decided to unload their weights ...

And now... Soriano's Home/Away splits:

.315/.355/.656/1.011 = Soriano's Home stats.
.224/.265/.374/0.639 = Soriano's Away stats.

I really, really, really think Soriano is going to be TERRIBLE in the NL , in particular the NL East at RFK for 81 games. Not saying he's going to put up a .639 OPS, but somewhere around .750 for sure.

These are very valid points and Eric Karabell on ESPN fantasy thinks Wilkerson will have a better year than Soriano as well. I think Sori will definitely take a plunge but I'm just not sold on Wilkerson. But trust me, I won't be drafting Soriano high in fantasy this year. Part of my thinking though is that he might not end up in Washington. I guess I'm surprised because I know how much he did NOT want to play the OF anywhere.

For Soriano I can see a .260 avg, 23 HR's, and 20 SB's. Not like what he's been putting up in Texas. I always loved the guy but he really is just too much of a free swinger for my tastes. He has a horrible OBP history.

Yankees got rid of Tony Ground Out errr I mean Womack. THANK THE HEAVENS AND THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-09-2005 04:30:

Yes. Soriano isn't going to be as "good" as he has been. This year is REALLY going to hurt his payday.

I think Wilkerson has the potential to be a really good player. He is young enough, he plays fairly decent defense, good power and great OBP. In Texas... wow. He could be a force. I really can't wait to see what their stats end up looking like.

I will also find it interesting to see what the Red Sox do. As of now, I'm thinking:

1B: Lowell
2B: Loretta
SS: Who knows?
3B: Marte/Youkilis

Though, they could keep Lowell at third and let Marte develop some more. But yeah... I think Marte is going to be great.

I really, really, really hope Omar's done with the big ticket guys though... Well... as long as he can keep Milledge and Heilman while doing it.

Read on ESPN that the Rangers are trying to trade Wilkerson. So who knows where he might end up. He did hit 32 HR's two years ago in Montreal.

That infield for Boston doesn't look that imposing, just compare it to the Yankees. However, I know it won't end up that way, there will be some surprises I think still.

1B: Lowell vs. Juiceambi
2B: Loretta vs Cano
SS: Blank vs Jeter
3B: Marte/Youkilis vs. A Fraud

I don't know... Boston looks better so far IF IF IF IF Schilling and Beckett remain healthy. But I think it's too early to conclude anything.

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-09-2005 20:55:

Personally, I think Schilling's done. I don't think you'll see another good year out of him.

As for the Red Sox infield, I just think it has the potential to be REAL good. I think Lowell comes alive again hitting in that ball park (unless the reason he sucks really is because of the lack of "vitamins"). Loretta will pound the shit out of that wall. Blank has always been better than Jeter. And Marte/Youks may not be great this year, but should be serviceable. Probably Cano-like production last year.

Red Sox could also try to pull off a Manny/Miggy trade.

F U on the Jeter comment!!

I think Lowell and Giambi used to eat lunch together in the offseason....but I'll still take Juiceambi anyday just for the load of walks he's gonna get.

Loretta is solid but I think Cano will improve some more. I really like him (well his fielding is pretty disgusting).

Posted by King Ecnal on Dec-09-2005 21:28:

1B: Lowell
2B: Loretta
SS: NOMAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3B: Marte

If Youkilis plays this year I'll be pissed, he is such a loser... he's got no game whatsoever...

Yeah, NOMAR will never come back, but the SS will be any one of these idiots: Alex Cora, Pokey, Royce Clayton or Alex Gonzalez, ORLANDO CABRERA???? Unlikely.... who knows and who cares.....

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-09-2005 21:41:

The Sox should really check in on a Manny for Miggy trade. I mean... really.

Posted by King Ecnal on Dec-09-2005 21:42:

Miguel Cabrera?

that wouldn't be a bad deal . that sounds like a blockbuster to me . both guys complaining to be traded. you can't ask for anything more.

Posted by King Ecnal on Dec-09-2005 22:51:

Miguel Tejada for Manny deal can't happen... Manny would NEVER approve that...

if he did, that's another story...lol...

Trade Marte for Tejada...lol...

Posted by GTS3gEclipse on Dec-09-2005 23:12:

Tejada won't go to the red sox. baltimore wont trade him within the AL east probabaly not even within the AL because they don't want to have to play against him throughout the season. and blank is lucky he gets to even play on the same field as derek jeter.

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-09-2005 23:48:

I think that if they're getting Manny in return, they'll be less reluctant to deal him to the AL East. Look, I doubt either gets traded, to be honest. But... if a deal was going to go down, this seems the most likely.

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Dec-10-2005 00:13:

I would gladly pack reyes, bensons and Milledges bags for Tejada.
But for now i am more concerned with getting setup men and someone to send Matsui to

I wouldn't trade Milledge for him. And probably not Reyes. While Miggy is good, he's not that good. He is definitely a product of the AL and Camden Yards. His OPS hasn't been .900+ ever.

Tejada was never one of Beane's fav players, too much of a see ball, hit ball kind of guy.

He had a really good first half last year that kind of masked his mediocre second half. I know cuz he was on one of my teams and I noticed the big dropoff.

I'd take Manny in this deal... even though he stands there to watch his homerun when his team is losing 2-7.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Dec-10-2005 03:32:

true . made a good point not to trade your best player to another team in the same division (ala babe ruth boston => yankees or thome indians=>phillies=>white sox) .. i cant wait to see jacobs field when thome comes up to plate in a white sox uniform .. at least albert belle was smart enough (for once .. geez) to move to baltimore, instead of another team in the same division .

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-10-2005 04:52:

It all depends on the terms the player left, obviously. I actually can't wait for Cameron's first game back at Shea. I'll get there early to see if I can see him and talk a little bit.

Agreed. Wilkerson can be a threat both offesnively and defensively. His strikes outs can be amended with some batting coaching. I was hoping to see him improve and make a stellar start with the Nationals next season. Soriano is good, but I think it'll take some time for adjustment to the NL and a new franchised Washington team.

We'll see though

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Dec-11-2005 04:23:

i don't know .. i cant question about it ..

AL players having more success switching over to the NL ( thome, carlos delgado, pedro martinez, jim edmonds)

cant think of any NL players who had success switching to the AL ...

some AL players i can think of that didnt do so well in the NL include Matt Lawton, and etc ... cant name some at the moment ...

but imo, an AL player moving the NL is harder than vice versa ... seems pitching is better in the NL, and the AL pitching is mediocre .

Posted by Shamez214 on Dec-11-2005 06:57:

I have no idea either. But when I look at Soriano's Home/Away splits... and then I look at how much of a pitcher's park RFK is... all I see is doom for Sori.
