Didn't crazy shit like this happen last time Tiesto played a club ARIA! Its seems to me that he is way to big for clubs and should stick to arena's! Bono thats crazy....

I came with some friends from Toronto and we all had a great time - of course I'm saying this from the perspective of not being one of the unlucky ones who got the boot.

I'm surprised to read that the capacity is only 800 - that can't be including the downstairs? I know it was pretty packed upstairs in front of the DJ so we just spent most of the time in one of the rooms off to the side where you could actually dance comfortably.

Obviously there were some things done wrong on this night... whether more of the blame lies on the venue or the promoter(s) is not for me to say since I don't know all the details. One suggestion would be that Circus takes steps to ensure that whenever they plan to have such a big event that the doors open earlier so people can get in without standing in a huge line - but there's only so much you can do when most of the people showed up around the same time that night and all had to get searched/coat checked/etc.

Some of the replies in here are made by people whose sole purpose is to fan the flames - whether because they already have a beef to pick with Tiesto,Circus, GK or anything 'Trance' related in general. Let's try to keep the thread objective without this turning any uglier than it already has.

That's my piece.

Hello everyone, as I have been reading this there are way to many stories and rumors about what actually has happened and what is about to happen, so I just would like to share with you what the truth is since I know both the people that are running Godskitchen and DKD.

First of all, the reason that Godskitchen is coming to Montreal is due to the fact that Montreal is a great town with a great vibe and has opportunities to make money just like anyone else. It just so happens that one of the workers of Godskitchen and the VP of DKD (who is actually one of the pioneers of Gold Club Series) are friends and have decided to team up with a few other industry leaders to work on larger scaled shows across Canada. The fact that Godskitchen can produce the dance side of things and DKD is great at doing rock concerts and other live acts makes it a great combination to produce a larger festival type of event. The have also teamed up with Gillette who specialize in running large scale concerts. Also 514 still is to this day a community pillar in the Montreal dance scene since almost day one and they have produced many great events over the past decade and this merger was clearly beneficial for all involved. They told me their main focus was not to come here and take away from anyone it was to help keep something everyone on the team believes in with such a great town like Montreal and yes to make money, there is no denying that as people do not work for free.

Now about the Tiesto show, from what I have heard form reliable sources is that it was a Gem show and Godskitchen was actually helping the promotions with the show and did not have much to do with the booking or security issues and capacity issues. Obviously when you have the #2 DJ in the world at a club that holds 1000 people in a city that dance is pretty big you are going to have problems. Stick Armin, Sasha, and PVD there it would be the same exact thing a mess. From what I also understand people who did get kicked out are calling and receiving their money back. The fact is yes he should have played at a bigger club but what was done was done.

For all you people that talk shit about Godskitchen you should stop, they have proven worldwide that they can clearly run night clubs, produce larger arena shows and build festivals. They are actually cool guys like the rest of us. Can you blame them for wanting to come to Montreal and make money doing dance events especially since some of the people that just came together are actually friends and is the VP of a concert company? I can guarantee you Celebration will be operated like any other major event that has been held at the Bell Center. I can tell you this, their main focus is to produce a Global Gathering in Montreal and Vancouver this summer with DJs and Live acts, it isnt to come and squeeze as much money out of everyone by bringing Tiesto to Circus and over selling the place, seriously come on. I am sure they are business men and have good work ethics like anyone such as Aria or Stereo and believe in lengthy relationships with the paying customers. Other wise why would have been around for 7 years and have done things in almost every major city worldwide other wise why would people like DKD, BBC1, Playstation, Space, Ice do business with them. They are just a different brand that something you are used to and thats why all the hate. They actually have been helping the scene in Montreal all these years from over seas by teaching the youth about this culture just like Aria or Bal en Blanc has been doing the same for the scene. For fuck sakes grow up, this isnt about hate.

Well this is pretty much the gist of what I know, I am a Godskitchen supporter as I have been to many of their events as well as a supporter of any good party really, so for now take care and whom ever is coming to Celebration I will see you there as it will be a great place to be on New Years Eve.

Here is the flash invite incase you havent seen it, it is pretty cool www.godskitchen.com/celebration

I was not at the event....Nor am I from montreal, but with regards to godskitchen and their 'expansion' into canada, I would be extremely wary of any 'corrective' measures they may take in fixing their party throwing woes. One does not have to look any further than their attempt at their expansion into Toronto's scene for evidence. It may not hold true now, they may have turned their Canadian Godskitchen wing around, but they didn't last very long here.

well

I had a great night. Crazzy night. ALMOST got kicked out ... LOL as I was going to the bathroom- noticed about 20 cops walking my way- ran back right in front og the booth and didn't move.
Tiesto was great, all smiles and he danced the whole time. He was having a great time, or doing a good job of pretending he was having a great time.
Does anyone have a track list?
He played some pretty good tracks but I can't really remember much.

Security was HORRIBLE. Very mean. I missed my Stereo crew.
I wanted in line for 3 hours. Thankfully Rodrigo let Tracy and I into stereobar without waiting in line for an hour. When we came back to circus, the line hadn't moved. AHHHHHHH
We had to sneak our way in. Got in, very pissed off, cold and cranky. Half an hour later, we parked our asses in front of Tiesto and danced the night away.

Crowded? Well, the dancefloor was in the middle, but on the sides and right in front of him, we had all the room we needed. No complaints.

After he got off (the first time) SAY HELLO PLAYED!!!!!!! We danced to the sounds of Deep Dish then headed to Chus & Ceballos at Stereo - insane set. Played till 12ish. Stayed tilll the end of that. What a night.

I was windering, some friends of mine got kicked out 40 min after getting in, how can they get their money back!?

Posted by mikester69 on Nov-30-2005 03:31:

So I have yet to hear of ONE single track played ...isnt this a review thread?

And by the way, I am extremely dissapointed with Craig Pettigrew and GEM events in general since they were the main promoters. You guys outdid yourselves from docks disaster back in the summer. I cannot suport greedy people like you and I hope that others will remember this when they hear about another party of yours. And as a close friend of Tiesto's we expected MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more class and professionalism out of you. these useless apologies wont cut it!

Posted by alwayssmiling on Nov-30-2005 03:36:

What Docks disaster? I thought it was the party of the year!

Posted by mikester69 on Nov-30-2005 04:08:

Docks for 'canada day' was definitely not the party of the year. Tiesto was on commission so they sold soo many tickets that MOST ppl were forced onto the patio where the music was barely heard, while the people inside the club literally couldnt stay for more than 15 min without going back outside due to overcrowdedness and heat. Tiesto in December/04 at Docks meanwhile, was successful IMO

Sounds like Labor of Love 2005 in Toronto.

except that the docks patio is HUGE and can fit twice as many people as the club itself

I kinda knew that Tiesto @ CIRCUS would lead to problems, because it's the Circus...next time, get this guy to the Aria or a special event such as at the CEPSUM last year

I wasnt at Circus but I was at CEPSUM last year and it was a great night. Lots of space, Lots of air, beautiful setup and amazing lights ... take a look at the pics I have

Tiesto @ CEPSUM

I took those pics with a pocket digicam, so they arent very sharp... but still some very good shots...
