Good goaltending on both sides

Finland beats Canada, 2-0
for their 3rd shutout, and stays undefeated
I believed they also clinched the top seed for Group A for the medal round

Exciting game, and Canada had lots of opps in the 3rd period, but couldn't convert

Canada plays Czech Republic tomorrow

Canada you fucks are killin me I WANT YOU TO WIN THE GOLD NOW START SCORING

and Russia looks good I think I poopooed them too much Kovealev and Yashin still got some in the tank

Finland deserved to win the game against Canada, and I think they're currently the best team in the tournament. Soumi is playing amazing in the box-play and their powerplay is impressive. They're playing very disciplined against their opponents, the main key is to play disciplined when the new rules has come. Also, they've got two very good goalies who play on the top of the game when it's needed.

But there's still a long way to go for Finland and the rest of the teams in the tournament. Sweden played very well in Salt Lake City back in 2002, they had it all, but suddenly they had a bad day and lost to Belarus. I hope this won't happen to the fins, but everything is possible.

Slovakia has also impressed alot of us, I don't think that anyone expected them to be this good in the beginning. But they've shown their potential with many good players who can turn around the game on their own.

I'm not counting Sweden to the favourites, but I still now the potential of this team. I think Sweden counts them selfes as outsiders now when they haven't played at the top of their game. But I certainly hope that the guys can play good.

It's going to be very interesting over the upcoming week.

Russia is a joy for the eye and soul to watch in this OS, im stunned, they is on their own level this tournament. For the moment the got that special feeling on every position, they look happy when they play, yeh Finland have been very good, I didnt think, like many others that they would play good this tournament but they have proved me wrong, but still the quaterfinals is all about winning or disapear, like Zoric said, last OS Sweden was soo fucking good, they played against all the teams like they where junior teams but then suddenly they blacked out when the real game started..

like teams are playing now then I go for Finland - Russia in the finals and Sweden - SUE for the bronze, sorry but Canada sucks soo far..

Canada has got too many good players... just too many outstanding individual players... not playing like a team...

I like Slovakia to skate into the Gold!

there are too many players on that team that shouldn't be there. Gretzky and crew were too conservative. Spezza and Stahl should be on that team in place of Bertuzzi and Draper. Pronger is having an absolute SHIT tournament.

Quinn isn't a good coach anyway and his constant line juggling tactic never works with the Leafs...it's not going to work here. Unless they turn it around, they won't even win a fucking bronze.

Pathetic!

Hopefully Canada will gel in time...

In 98, Roy started EVERY game. It was in 2002 that Brodeur first got in.
CuJo started the first game - a 5-2 loss to Sweden - and since then Brodeur's been Canada's #1 goalie.

Czechs today will be another tough one.
But u get the feeling that once Canada gets that ONE goal,
that they'll catch fire and start rollin.....

Switzerland is down against Italy with one goal, 3-2 9 minutes into the 3rd period. Surprisingly.

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 13:36:

Fatal miss from Chittaroni and Ruhteman scores 3-3. Poor Chittaroni who's been playing really good so far..

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-21-2006 13:37:

I woke up to seeing Italy leading, and couldn't believe it
Well, Swiss tie the game with about 4 minutes to go

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 13:38:

Yep. Italy has been playing better, that's for sure.

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 13:39:

Powerplay for Italy now, would be really funny if they took out their goalie and tried to score a goal. 5 on 4 at least.

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 13:42:

Italy shots in the post, shit!

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-21-2006 13:49:

Yeah that shot was close
Switzerland makes a great escape, and will be the #2 seed for Group A
Right now they'll face Sweden, but that can change

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 14:09:

Totally. Very close to score a goal..

Posted by ertsi on Feb-21-2006 16:40:

Finland had terrible playing today, i'm eager to see how it goes against USA tomorrow

Posted by InterMilan31 on Feb-21-2006 16:58:

Swiss are through...hopefully this like isnt one of those things where we go far in Hockey but fuck up in another tournament...WC?

Canada crusing now against the Czechs who look awful.

Next two games should be good but really careless now as most teams like me are thinkin about the next stage

GO CANADA!

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 17:01:

I hope the Czech's can score 2 more goals. A tie is good for them and for their confidence and I've always liked them more than Canada..
