Have any of you guys ever tried using www.hotdecks.com

Hotdecks has recently been taken over by a new team.

Hotdecks was originally the brainchild of Neo + Farina, it was born out of the need for a record shop / online store that leaves the attitude at the door!!

Neo + Farina are now concentrating on there busy djin and producing schedule, so something had to give. Hotdecks is now owned by Rach + Andy Smith, who are long standing clubbers plus Andy is a dj. Hence they know what people want!!!

We offer a wide and up to date variety of most genres of dance music, we have a very strong trance influence that stems back throu our roots.

Whether its classics or up-front promos your looking for try www.hotdecks.com

why doesn't your search allow us to buy the records from the search, it just shows me the audio samples

Posted by hotdecks on Sep-09-2003 15:36:

once you have searched, click on more info, the auddio is at the bottom, next to the piccy of the cover is the "add to basket" button, this allows you to buy the tunes

thanx

Yesterday afternoon i've placed an order for 6 vinyl at Dancegrooves .
Yesterday evening i've recognized that for a my mistake i've ordered Questia - Nexus instead of Questia - Crystal Clouds so i've emailed Dancegrooves explainig my problem. This morning they have replied to me that they put in my order Crystal Clouds instead of Nexus Asia like i wanted. Great and ready support.

Posted by Freak on Sep-26-2003 15:46:

Once again no problsmes with dotvinyl- fast delivery

But

Ordered an R&B tune from them- been 1 month now- and the debited my account the day after i ordered.

just spoke to them- some muppet at the post office tried to fold the 12" in half- depsite 'DO NOT BEND' being written on it.
It was returned by the post service to DMF in two halves.
Awaiting new stock i am told....hmmmm

To be fair, Hotdecks are the only record shop that has continually offered decent service. In fact, it's the only place I will buy my tunes from now, apart from Juno when Hotdecks are out of stock!

My order from Dot Vinyl (see above posts! ) still has not arrived. It is almost 4 months since they took payment and the records have supposedly been shipped out twice!

As for htfr... Grrrr! I personally wouldn'y go anywhere near them! The prices are obscene and about 1 record in every 20 I buy from them is marked in some way!
I went to the shop in Brum to buy some equipment. I played with some mixers and the mixer I decided on (VMX300) was £169.99 in the catalogue, £169.99 on the web-site and actually priced up in the shop as £169.99. When I came to buy the mixer they said it was £189.99 - because that's what it was "on the system". I was a bit annoyed by this and all they could say is "We can find you another mixer to suit your budget"!!!
In the end they gained £20 and lost a customer!

i buy stuff from juno every week. the only 2 times i had a problem (they sent the wrong record) i emailed them and got the correct ones for free (as i should)

i recon they are pretty good (way better then htfr) and i always get my records quite fast, about 3-5 working days (i live in sweden)

just my 0.5 SEK ( no EUR here )

Hi Everyone!

Just like to say Andy & Rach @ Hotdecks will look after you probably better than i could, as towards the end it just got to busy for me to run on my own, so if anything it should be realy good now as all they do is concentrate on buying & selling vinyl....

I do agree though, all people make mistake's but it how well they handle putting it right that i believe is more important, that is how we all learn in life (Well some of us anyway) lol!!

I still by my vinyl in there to

N&F

When ordering online, I usually avoid anything that says HARD TO FIND or RARE.

From experience, it'll take forever and you may not even receive the record at all.

Posted by Simcut on Oct-15-2003 11:20:

oh, do NOT get me started guys, I have been ripped off a number of times, what I like is how Dance Music Finder (alleged fierce rivals of HTFR) keep slagging off HTFR on their site, saying they stole a website address from them, bla bla bla and how crap HTFR are. Well, let me tell you, Dance Music Finder are absolutely NO better than HTFR, I went on the DMF site and found a lot of stuff that they said were "in stock" and I had ordered them all, there was some massive rare stuff like Auranaut - Ppl Want To Be Needed on Barracuda and a few other bits, including a Dance Opera release of Airscape - L'esperanza with the alleged DJ Tiesto Remix as well as a couple of others, so I think to myself, woohoo, Im gonna order these, about a week after I've ordered I get a parcel in the post that was rather um, light? I thought, hang on a sec here, where are all the tunes? I open the parcel up pull out the 1 record that was in there with the invoice and I read the invoice that says just Airscape on there, and I look at the record and guess what, they sent me the Xtravaganza release of L'esperanza with the fucking Original and Svenson Goes To Loveparade Mixes which I already have, so they sent me the wrong record, and charged me £15 fucking quid for a record I could so easily get on ebay for about £4-£5! so I go bananas and I ring up DMF and tell them that they had sent me the wrong vinyl, they apologised to me and took my customer number etc and said to send it back to them and they would give me a refund, so I take some extra time off at lunch time to head down the post office and get it sent to them, paying about £3 in postage, I then hear nothing.....1 week I think, hmm, oh well I'll just wait for the bank statement to come through, it comes through and I see no refund made by DMF but their charge appears on there (charging me about £18 in total, including the postage). So I think, dont worry, I'll give them a call on Monday (I got the statement on Friday) - I then ring them up and ask them if they had got the record back and then the guy said "hold on" (no please or anything) and 5 minutes later he comes back and says "yes? what do you want?" I then explain the whole issue again as this was a different guy, he checks on the system says they have records of it being sent back to me, and that they would refund me as soon as possible, to cut the story short (err, short you say? I've typed about 500 lines!!) about 3 weeks later I still had no refund and I was wasting my time and money ringing these ******s, so I was screwed out of £18 and they even got the record back, bunch of wankers! This was a few months ago now, but what a bloody disgrace, nobody *EVER* use Hard To Find or Dance Music Finder!!!!!!

The other records I later found out they never had in stock and just as well they didnt charge me for those, if they did I'd travel to Birmingham to fucking kick some serious arse! A friend of mine told me that when he travelled to the HTFR shop there was a guy there who's wife was in a wheelchair and he was taking her into the shop, and the staff told her to go outside as they didnt allow wheelchairs in the shop, what sort of company are they? discrimation or what! the guy went nuts at them (and quite right too!) and they booted him out of the shop and refused to serve him - trust me, AVOID!

Also, avoid dotvinyl too, they have been having a lot of problems lately, where people have ordered stuff and the order has never been sent to them and people are having problems emailing and phoning the company.

The only record shops worth looking at are Above The Sky, Replay, Chemical, Juno, Recess, Only-DJS and GermanTrance

Kind Regards,

P.S. Fucking hell I need a pint after typing all this out! :O

BTW people, if you've had any problems with any record store (like those I've had with HTFR) then let us know about it! It's about time we told each other about the cock-ups these record stores make, so that people stop using them and therefore the stores don't get chance to do it to others...Us TAs have to stick together!

I used to visit HTFR store in Birmingham every week for my vinyl. I got tired of waiting extra weeks while they didn't hold the right imports i wanted. Thankfully Massive Records are not so picky on imports and of course chemical records is the best for service i've found. That thing about the mixes has happened to me before as well - i ordered Gabriel & Dresden remix of Beachball on Ultra earlier this year, only to find that i got the LK Remix on Superfly. i was furious as i'd only ordered that same record a week earlier on a previous order.

They pretend to be professionals, and are good for old records... but i agree HTFR are overpriced and amateurish

Hi am new to the boards.

I have been buying tunes off the web for about a year now and have found that www.abovethesky.com has given me the best service. Their website is easy to use and has mp3 of each tune so you know what you are buying.

Also if there is a tune you want and can't find it on the website drop the guys an email or give them a phone and they will try and find it for you.

Also if you order early afternoon you will get your purchase the next day as long as you are in the UK.

Posted by Nemesis44 on Oct-30-2003 11:12:

Agreed,

ATS are the best in the business in my opinion. My experiences with www.globalgroove.co.uk have been pretty good too even if the site is perhaps a little messy looking. Likewise for http://www.ukdancerecords.com/ as they have been very helpful to me although I have not used them enough to know what they are like all the time.

Cheers
