Sounds like the same problems that i had at Gods my first time years ago were still there. When i went, the sound system was garbage. It was all muffled and quiet in the GK tent, best comparision is it sounded like next door were having a house party. I went before the chav's invaded but i can imagine. The tent leaked when i was there, just in the middle, not the booth haha.

Martyn, did you have to remortgage for those noodles?

What a fucking night! I wish I went to a club instead.

The sound system was shocking at the gods tent. We were at the front and a few of us started the "turn it up" chant which Armin could hear. But when he spoke to the sound engineer fella, there was nothing that they could do.

A lot of the sets were so dull - although I only got there when Marco V was playing. It seems that everyone was playing slow stuff and it wasnt until Armin came on that I started really dancing.

It was a shame, because the speakers in the Gods tent looked way too small when you compare it to last years and that was killed the atmosphere. Bass was none existant too. I could chat in the middle of the floor to people without any problems which generally I can't without putting fingers in my ears.

Then the roof above the DJ box started leaking later as well as in the middle of the floor - then the lights stopped and with the poor sound really did kill what was left of the atmosphere.

Then people started saying that PVD wasn't turning up and I was thinking what else could go wrong.

I went to the Love Parade a few weeks back and the sound systems from the floats and the middle of the park were absolutely blinding for an outdoor event. And when you got between the relayed float and the speakers inside the roundabout it felt awesome, so much better than the sound systems I've experienced in most clubs. And for a free event thats amazing, but when you get stung �65 and listen to a muffled set after set it really puts a damper on your night. If there's one thing they should have got right was the sound system. It did look like the enginners were having all sorts of problems with lasers etc too.

Chavs - yeah fucking loads of them!!

And if things couldn't get worse, I ran over a poor rabbit on the way home.

By the sounds of it, im glad i didnt go now........�65 well saved!

With regards to Gods tent quietness, I don't think it was always that quiet, it seemed to suddenly be quiet for Armin's set, but I think it got a bit louder after about 45 minutes. He was certainly trying to get it louder, as he was definitely talking to a guy and gesturing to turn it up after he'd heard the "turn it up" chants.

To be fair, I still really enjoyed it, but that's probably because I rarely go clubbing, and ever more rarely go to see trance!

i got there about half an hour before then end of oakies set. the whole half hour was pathetic. he cant mix, and it was stupidly quiet! earlier for above and beyond it sounded great though! i guess they had to turn it down because of sound polution or some crap... but it really was ridiculous, i left the tent after 20 minutes of armins set because it was so quiet. felt sorry for him really. like i said though carl cox made my night.

Amongst those who could hear this was Tiesto, who duly shouted back with a bemused look on his face "i can't." In other arena's they may as well have had a �30 Aiwa hifi and matching speakers placed on a table at the front. In fact, that probably would have been better. Getting in and out of Stratford Upon Avon (especially out) is a mission. After a night out, I don't know about anyone else but all I want is my bed. If you come by car expect a 1 hour to 2 hour wait before getting out. And if you came by train expect either an even longer wait for a shuttle bus, or a good few mile trek back to the station. Queuing. Can't be arsed with this. Took about 2 hours to get in one year, and the organisation of it all was appalling. People pushing in all over the place. The chav's. Never encountered any problems myself, but then again I am usually with a massive group of friends. But I always come away and hear stories from others who encountered the scum of England. Why people would want to pay out all that money to go in and cause fights, vandalise, and just be a general nuisance is way beyond me, but it happens. �112 for all of that? Fuck off. I usually get into this for free, and even then I am always in two minds whether or not to go.

Sounded like a mess. I'm glad a quit the arena/festival seen a few years back.

Early festivals like summer sound system, knebworth and homelands were all good. But I suppose there's too much red tape these days restricting them from putting on a good bash.

I don't agree, like I said, I still really enjoyed myself. And to pick up on your points;

The DJs I was looking forward to seeing most; Armin, A&B and Marco V were all very good, plus there was some extra unexpected stuff! PvD was a shame but that can't be helped.

Yes, it rained, but it wasn't that muddy, and I didn't get cold at all!

Generally the sound system seemed ok, it seems like it was only during Oakenfold and the start of Armin that it wasn't so good. I do remember it being a lot better than last year.

Getting in and out of Stratford was a piece of piss.

Didn't queue that long, if you get there before it opens then you're going to be queuing. If you leave arriving until about half an hour after the gates open you can pretty much walk straight in.

I didn't have any problems with chavs, only saw a couple, but I guess individual's stories may be different.

I had an immense time at global, but its certianly not without its faults.

i could of left after daft punk and i would of had the greatest wknd of my life, they were simply unbelievable and worth the 115 on its own.

the gods arena soundsystem wasnt great at all, especially towards when it started to get dark, i thought it was ok for A+B and Marco V, who were fookin amazing, watcin tony and paavo go mental on the stage was pretty humerous and also motivating.

i did spend a lot of time appreciating non-trance dj's. fatboy slim was immense (as was the entire radio 1 beach stage, including the dj's and the sound system) it started to piss it down during the last 15mins of fatboys set which you think would have put people off, but it was immense coz nobody gave a fuck about it and if anything, more people turned up.

what i saw of carl cox was nothing short of brilliant, quite similar to his set i saw at wakestock a couple of weeks ago. max graham was a pleasure to see, and certianly got the place banging. halliwell was a good replacment for pvd, and i actually enjoyed jules set (first one) but i spose the crowd helped with that one, was absolutely crazy. but all nowhere near in the same league as daft punk, i am honestly tempted to kill myself now, because i know i will never ever experience anything better than there gig on fri night.

if u get the chance to go and see them, DO IT!.

as for other things like camping.......that was absolutely fine for me (apart from the rain early hours sun morning). i had a nice spot with loads of space and very little noise. only downside was that it was a slightly longer walk to the festival itself, but totally worth it.

and i am now a big fan of sirrus (smooth) cider, thanks to the strongbow cider house, which i really enjoyed chillin by on sat.

all in all an enjoyable wknd, only a few things let it down, but nothing to severe to dampen my spirits!

Had a good time out there (still kinda here though). Daft Punk were immense, weather was good (even the showers were refreshing), and the food was predictably expensive/uncooked. Getting in and out of the place seemed a lot easier this time around due to the number of people camping, so that was a boost. The major downer was the poor work on the technical side of things (i.e. the fact that they still haven't sorted out the sound system in the Gods tent, leaky roof etc.)

I was going to stay for the first 10 mins or so just to give the guy a chance, but it turned out to be a good set. He played Cherry Blossom though, so that might have been the deciding factor to stay longer.

Marco V was excellent. Daft Punk were unbelievably good. Rain didn't bother me in the slightest; I'm Scottish after all.

I had great time at Global 2006 but there were a few problems as well. Probably due to the hifi festivals losing GK a lot of money the production and sound was cut back. Friday was better than Saturday as you couldn't get day tickets so not many scallies around. However some of the tents around us did have phones nicked. Walking back at 6am in the morning on the Friday there were quite a few dodgy people around the campsites.

The Godskitchen arena was rubbish - how was the sound fine on Friday for Daft Punk but was well bad for the Saturday? Went in early in the Gods tent and the rigging and lighting systems were swinging rather alarmingly prob a reason why some of the lights and effects didn't work. The decor was minimal and nothing compared to last years the lasers would've been amazing if they had them working properly. When it rained the tent was leaking as well.

Having rides on the campsite open all night on the Friday - the reason why I didnt get any sleep on Friday was because the dodgems would spurt out a annoying jingle every 3 minutes! They were off early on Saturday tho!

No PVD - ok there was a letter about him not playing in the gods arena but tbh GK knew about this weeks ago. They were too worried about ticket sales so was always going to say he was playing. Marky in the drum and bass was a no show too.

Top sets I saw where Daft Punk, Fancuilli b2b Zabiela, Andy C, Friction, Amber D(was nice to hear some old hard house even if she can't mix) and Sasha. This alawys seems to happen but every other year the trance arena is shite (2004 was worse tho).

I'm glad i chose not to go.

glad i didnt go too esp with PvD being a no-show, obv understandable tho. Sound quality was shit in 2004 but absolutely amazing in 2005 so hopefully 2007 will be a good one!

the sound system at ukta parties is better than gkgg, and thats not actually taking the piss either.

Well I had a shitty night on saturday I ended up getting spiked in the Godskitchen Arena at about 7pm in the middle of fergies set. It Spoilt my whole night and I didn't get to see anyone after Jules because I had to leave at about 8:40pm. I was really ill and had to go back to my tent to sort myself out.

It was nice meeting Martyn and his friend, sorry I had to give yah the news about PVD set... your faces dropped immediately after that. Also gutted I didn't get to do a proper TA meetup or catch up with martyn later on in the night.

I probably had a better night on friday. I saw tiesto's set and actaully enjoyed it

For me though the best set I heard was from Matt Hardwick, he played his set in GK at aruond 4pm I think with some really wonderful uplifting trance. I think he dropped Super8 - Get Off, which just really made me happy :0

Oh well I'll be back next year guys

Gonna go cry about missing all the other sets now

Yes indeed, I think they just swapped the systems round from last year's Radio 1 stage, because last year, Radio 1's stage sounded shite, but was apparantly really good this year, and sounded pretty good the couple of times I walked past.

damn.... the first 2 globals were wicked tis a shame they have deteriorated so bad. my advice is to pay the money make the effort and get your asses to holland. mysteryland, dance valley, defqon 1, sensation, qlimax, trance energy... the options are endless.

I think people should have written their reviews after catching up on some sleep lol - some pretty negative things have been said!

It was my first time at GG and I spent it all in the GK tent apart from a few hours spent checking everwhere else out before it got dark.

Yes the sound was quiet for an hourish in the GK tent but then it got sorted when Armin was on - and the sound was better than the 2nd biggest tent (Accelerated Culture).

The tent leaking when it rained cooled us all down the only problem was the DJ stuff getting wet but they put a canopy over it all eventually, apart from the lights and sound going for abit the rest of the time the tent was exstatic!

I stayed from 3PM Saturday till 5AM Sunday the weather was wet at night but under the tent it was fine, the main stage had the best outdoor sound system I've heard - Shapeshifters played a banging housey set.

Heres a brief rundown of the sets I was there for:-

(20:00 � 21:00) Judge Jules [Confirmed]
Wicked set- loads of classics played, A melodic tune with female vocals and a piano I've never heard before was amazing, anyone hear it?! It was quite chilled out but had a great melody.

(21:00 � 22:30) Ferry Corsten
Not bad too much LEF for me as usual

(22:30 � 00:00) Paul Oakenfold
Wicked set!

(00:00 � 01:30) Armin van Buuren
Not bad some current and older classics

(03:30 � 04:30) Eddie Halliwell
V.hard and messed allot with the CDJ's.

All in all i enjoyed it, not sure if i'de ever stay there, now I want to go the the european festivals where trance is celebrated even more, so Dance Valley is on the cards I think!

Haha, my mate just informed me of something quite funny. He left my house in Stafford yesterday afternoon to travel back to Ipswich, and he happened to have Dave Pearce on on Radio 1, and he was talking about Global, and people were phoning in and telling him what they thought the best set was. Someone phoned up and said "Hello Dave, well I though Paul van Dyk played a blinding set" Dave Pearce said something like "Thanks for calling in, so Paul made your night did he?" the caller said "Yeah".
