you know what is my favourite part of Italian homes??

There is always that ONE room in the house that NO ONE is allowed to go into... my cousins and i named these rooms " The Museums"

Everything in the room is in the EXACT place it was whenever that family first moved into the house... there is plastic on every stick of furniture and the carpet is vacuumed so that its all brushed in the same direction!

lol. I've seen those, but not in my house. There's one room which is the guest room, which is not used as much, but all of them are used. And it's only 3 people in the hosue.

so true!!!

Usually the "living room" (ironic term given that no living being is allowed in it) is a showcase for the family's faux-European style furniture. Sometimes there's a grand piano in there, but almost never a TV. It's only ever used when in-laws or close relatives (but not too close) come over because it's more formal than the living room. That's when we get out the Baci and panettone - which, like the living room, are things that we don't eat/use unless formal company is over.

80% of my parents house.
They live in the basement.

Cellar is called the "cantina" and has many shelves of tomatoe sauce filled mason jars. A wall of red.
