still no info on tix? i'm stressing out that i'm not gonna get a ticket... do they usually sell fast?
also, is the venue near a train station? trying to work out how i'm gonna get there, and get away after.

They usually go on sale around the end of July. Don't worry you'll get a ticket. They go up as more are sold....you can even get them at the door. The Guvernment Complex is all about money...you'll get it. Worst comes to worst, there's ALWAYS scalpers at the event.

There's a train station not to far - Union Station. It's ViaRail though...only in Canada. You could take a Greyhound which also isn't too far. 10 min cab ride I'd say.

^^ what she said!! There is no way you cant get a ticket....I usually get mine mid-august or so.....but you will pay the price at the door! The guv will pack the place till the fire department comes, unfortunately. I kinda wish there was more of a limit!!

PS they dont usually start selling tickets until a complete (or at least a fuller) lineup is annoucnced.

And just to put your mind at ease, the first year I went, I went up on a whim with my old boyfriend from toronto and bought the tickets the night before

in 2004 i was actually on the guestlist and it was fine...actually we almost werent on the guestlist cuz drew gave his name to the promoter at the tA BBQ the night before...the promoter was incredibly drunk...the list had him as "Andrew M" not "Andrew W" go figure...but props for him answering his phone and helping us to figure that out...we were really nervous cuz i didnt wanna pay $65-70 CAN at door (which still wasn't bad for the party, we just didnt bring enough money. ahah)

guestlist is fine...usually its about the same price as hard ticket sales...the Guvernment rarely SELLS out...esp. for an ALL ACCESS event, yes they will pack the fuckin place like SARDINES

also for some reason, when we went up for Canada Day, tickets on guestlist were STRAIGHT at $30 CAN!!!! i remember ticketmaster charging service fees (total ended up $40CAN) so iono WTF that was about...

how are u guys getting up there.

im serious, if there is NO official LOL/NYTA hotel, im just going to book at the Courtyard...its very nice, courteous service, incredibly clean and well-managed...and it has never disappointed me. its a cab ride away -- almost costs the same as the parking lot across from GUV...yeah there was MADD drama at the Novotel when we went...not sure if we would be allowed BACK there. ahah. yeah overcharging sucked ass.

To be honest...IMO for all access events it's better not to be on guestlist. Guestlist and line-bypass are in the same line. Some people have tickets, others don't, and with both merged in together it makes the line longer sometimes. Just get there early and go through the regular line.

OR what I do sometimes...put myself on guestlist....get there early anyway and then see whichline is moving faster.

actually ur prolly right about that, Lisa...

i just remembered that we were ON guestlist only cuz we were going back and forth back and forth about even going up...That Friday prior to LOL at midnite we decided to drive up from Jersey/DC with ppl...which culminated in our 15 hr drive up ahah. no time to even BUY tickets..but yeah in hindsight we totally would have gotten them in advance!! oh man that LOL was the freakin' BEST!!! ahah

Posted by yankeeBaby on Jul-18-2006 20:58:

^^ Last year I had a hard ticket and my friends from Toronto (non-Ta's) were on guestlist. I got in 20 minutes before they did LOL

Lyss: why dont you make the courtyard THE nyta hotel?? hehe Make it a good choice bc even tho I am staying with friends I am sure as hell coming to visit!!! lol (perhaps a pool, bar, etc??) haha j/k.........

well its kinda FAR, its not a hop step and a jump away like the NOVOTEL...ppl like the Novotel cuz you can walk to and from the GUV, still a TREK imo...then again after a party it IS kinda nice to walk back and take a breather. The NOVOTEL is def bigger in terms of the room...Courtyard is cheaper...still two double queens and well maintained...non-ghetto...

anyway well it depends on whatever ppl decide on. I'm not even sure last time how everyone (NYTAS and DCTAS) decided on staying at the Novotel...it was a last min thing for us

and how about tatgirl's idea of that hotel (Delta something) she mentioned it previously. I wonder if thats a huge hotel (at least 3stars)

Posted by Marcin777 on Jul-19-2006 01:45:

u got my vote for Courtyard Marriott

but if Novotel is right by Guv, then maybe thats a better idea

Posted by *~LiSa-LoO~* on Jul-19-2006 01:55:

The Westin Harbour Castle is by the Guv and it's fucking gorgeous

flying may seen easier...lyss...dave (bogart)and i pretty sure are gonna fly upstate then drive..either land in Rochester where we went to school or fly into Buffalo. Landing in Buff makes the drive shorter since we have to go through B-lo antways.

yeah im still figuring that part out...it WOULD be easier to do that yes. how much are plane tickets, have u looked yet?

its always WEIRD seeing my old almamater (UB) everytime I'm driven into Toronto eheh. it pretty much looks the same

tix on jetblue.com are about $70 - 90 bucks (each way) from JFK - Rochester or Buffalo...same prices for Friday or Saturday that weekend..i figure if i drove up the gas alone would cost at least 100 bucks and id probably be exhausted from driving so this is probably a good option...

that being said, i dunno if i can make it up for this..also need to conserve on cash
