control freak was probably with rtem mfsg, it gives control freak a nice little kick to it.

http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF211985-01-02-01.mp3 thats mfsg

paul normally loops the "going" vocal (it really says money) over control freak

Posted by Enervate on Aug-21-2006 17:40:

sorry, not in the scene like i used to be.. rtem mfsg? what does that mean? =)

agreed, and while that did suck, 03 was still far and away the best for me. Not only was paul himself amazed with everything (the blimps in the air for the vma awards, putting his hands up in the lazers) but you could also walk from the one lighting pole to the other at anytime in the night without bumping into one single person.

What I am confused about is...do all you "nay sayers" realize that PVD has always mixed in, out, over and under tracks for YEARS! He has even said it in interviews...he plays the track and the segment(s) of the track he feels. This is nothing new. Times have changed, technology has given people ability to create rather than just play. Unfotunately, some people just can't accept that. So be it...

If you read the Clubplanet.com interviews from PVD and Made events...you may understand this event more...and appreciate what went on. This is not a club night...this is an event for all ages...We saw families and children there enjoying their time. If you are a new comer to PVD and summerstage..you can't leave without hearing "For an Angel"...it just comes with the territory.

Very Well Put!!!

The procuction was great...the drums were a nice added element that tranformed this into more of an industrial techy-trance set...something I have never seen...Not too many drummers can keep up at 140BPM...kudos to him. The lights, the sound...all added to it (barring one set back...hey shit happens)....It's all about the music, the setting the emotion and the times. If you are not into it...then don't spend your hard earned money to be a spectator....

Can't wait for Roseland!

Red face

My Review - Another half assed set from pVd , 3rd time seeing him , 2 times @ summerstage and once in Roseland . In Roseland he did a pretty good job but @ summerstage half the show is bangin and half of it is like ehhh . Out of soooo many SICK NEW TRACKS he stay playing the same old shit and ENDS HIS sets the same fuckin way everytime lol with his lame old productions ( Dont get me wrong there pretty good but they become lame once you play them to much and people bitched that tiesto would drop his production everytime at least his production got a Kick to it and people would go fuckin nuts to his tunes ). I had fun though again for only 1 reason , cause I was there with a bunch of friends , every one was dancing , having a pretty good time . @ The afterparty every one was buggin out more to my sets . I dont know why but Pvd dosn't know how to kill it !

Half the Tracks that are on the list that he played I didnt even notice like it would be a small part of it but the bassline would stay the same none stop execpt for a few moments .

If any one stays he killed it on saturday Those people must of been Rolllllinnnnnn HArd or on some other crazy shit lol

Overall opinion = Weak Set

Posted by DJDavidScott on Aug-21-2006 19:10:

4 strigs - take me away (Purple haze rmx)...i think that is the mix he dropped...

P.S. based on your trite and gag-inspiring sig, I'd venture to guess you're what, 12 - 13 years old? If so, then it explains it.

Actually im 22 and a enthused producer/dj, so before you open your mouth think about what your saying. I apprciate music for what it is an the ideas i get from it. I respect what paul van dyk does, hes been doing this for years playing the same tracks numerous times throughout some mnay sets over the time. Take it for what its worth your going to see an amazing performer an this was a performance with a live drummer. and he experimented with new things, he always has experimented thats wat he does.

was the worst set and event i've ever been to in my entire life. music was terrible. live drummer was frequently off, i just don't understand how anybody could have enjoyed that. HIS SHIT DIED SATURDAY IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS SET. that's just terrible. I can't believe it, must be embarrassing. Or maybe he doesn't give a shit. Every time I've seen PVD it seems like he doesnt give a shit anyways. its a paycheck.

if you want to see a real show, see armin. real emotion, and actually good music. tiesto is good too. actually, almost anybody but pvd. i went this year and last and will definitely never waste my money on that shit ever again. if you think this event was even satisfactory, chances are you've never seen anything good.

i think it was satisfactory and maybe you are right...in the 5+ years i've been a part of TA I haven't seen anything good! ok I lose!

but take these words of wisdom through out your clubbing life and experience that the word satisfactory in terms of how he preforms, the audience he draws, and the amount of production dollars that go into his set up did impress me in comparison to Armin's Tobacco Warhouse fluke. Both were decent parties but neither deserved the words you just expressed.

To me it was a real show because
A - he showed up and preformed
B - production and sound was above par
C - people came, danced, and cheered

That's pretty much a real show if you ask me.

As you begin to see show after show, venue after venue, you learn to accept that this is this DJs niche, this is who he is and what ultimately captivated me you and anyone else. You'll learn to not compare and/or expect anything from the DJ. Your opinion has a lose translation of disappointment. I think you need to see more shows to understand what's going on here.

This post made me think about PVD's set in an attempt to sum it up with one word - and I came up with "fresh". It was just that, a refreshing set of various musical styles blendig together in an energetic mix that kept most of us dancing and smiling. I mean he went from melodic proggy stuff that had summery chill tracks, to more funky prog with mean basslines and deep grooves, then he exploded into full on trance mixed with dark tech tracks. His music was off the wall, it was so original. Yeah, I saw armin at the tobacco warehouse, it was a fucking ASOT episode, but longer. But all he played was either asottish prog or asottish trance - wow, how awesome. PVD, on the other hand, isn't afraid to diversify his set with funky house even. I mean house sucks by itself, but when placed properly in a banging set, it can really add some serious groove to the party. And that's exactly what PVD did. You can't lie - it worked for most of the people at the party. I mean I remember strangers all around me saying shit like "wow" and "this is incredible" all night long. I didn't hear a single "boo" or "play something else" comment. The show was something else, and I really do feel sorry for people who didn't click with the music and atmosphere that day.

What's surprising is that I'm a real trance fan, I love uplifting, epic, energetic trance. More than anything else. More than tech, dark, or prog trance. DEFINITELY more than house. But PVD managed to encorporate all of those styles in one set (maybe 30% of it was actual uplifting trance), and I thought the whole -set- was amazing. That just shows how the man can bring variety to the table in a fresh way, making you love the music itself, not its genre.
