my god, just about halfway through the day's play and they just got to 100....

the commentators have been HAMMERING england all day about not taking panesar lol

Posted by xtractorfan on Dec-01-2006 04:55:

Pretty slow day at the Adelaide Oval... not much to get excited about really.

and england's batting has been very slow and painful even for a test, fucktard

Posted by Lilith on Dec-01-2006 07:21:

Least they tried to bean the odd batsman out of boredom, can't get them out may as well kill one of them

sometimes you just have to dig in sweetheart
just like Pietersen's doing at the minute

Thanks for clearing that up non-bather, was wondering why they were in whites.

well honey with only 266 on the board at the end of the first day on a good batting pitch they certainly did a lot of digging, maybe tomorrow they can have a go at climbing out?

Posted by gumble on Dec-01-2006 09:48:

ENGLAND ARE PLAYING FOR A DRAW

dirty bastards, wasting first day, and as much time as possible, so Aus have to gun to win, which gives them chance of drawing this test!!!!

Posted by Az on Dec-01-2006 10:03:

considering how well you bowled today, I think 3 down at the end and a powerful last session isn't that bad of a comeback. Definately going to frustrate you even further if KP and Colly can stay in until lunch tomorrow, and see where we go from there.
Have to say I'm not too confident of bowling you out twice without panesar, but maybe good old duncan feltcher knows something we don't.

Posted by Philby on Dec-01-2006 10:14:

yeah last session was great for england, i thought it was interesting that stuart clark didn't bowl as much as he did. mcgrath didn't look that comfortable early on so we'll see how long he lasts! hopefully pietersen and collingwood put on a big partnership instead of going out 4 balls into the next day hehe. too bad i'll be at work all weekend

Posted by Az on Dec-01-2006 11:04:

pietersen is really going to bully mcgrath this series, loved the way he was sneaking in extra runs when mcgrath was fielding

Posted by Ian on Dec-01-2006 14:52:

we've got a good start, and that's what we needed. Without Trescothick or Vaughan who can score at high rates, we've had to build a solid foundation. If we can get 300-400 before Flintoff & jones come in, that's when they're at their best, rather than being 80-5 or something. It may not be great viewing to begin with, but when you're being bowled over quickly, getting into the habit of batting days is important.

Posted by A.J. on Dec-01-2006 15:11:

Why the hell aren't they playing Monty Panesar?

DONE!!!!

great to see colly get his century!!

pietersen 100 off 149 balls = SUPERSTAR!!!

how about those 3 fours by pietersen in mcgraths first over!! brilliant!!! eerr should i say marvelous!!

Posted by Az on Dec-02-2006 06:31:

94 years
and colly can't hit anything that doesn't slide down the leg side

It was brilliant . I hate Mcgrath with a passion, probably cos he's a fantastic bowler

Agree with A.J, Panesar needed to be in the squad, Giles aint going to take many wickets is he (even though he can bat a bit) cos his bowling is so flat, atleast Monty can turn the ball, and i think when he's on song with blokes around the bat he could be a potential match winner.
But all in all, perfect day for us with the prize wicket of Langer at the end of the day.

Posted by gumble on Dec-02-2006 22:42:

My fair old town overrun by poms!

There was more red and white than green and gold at the ground!

Collingwood and Pieterson were awesome. Until they just padded off spinners for ages...

Was a good day tho, bit devastating to see Langer out so early

This is the first time I've come back from a game and remembered who i went to see play.

Posted by TCB on Dec-03-2006 01:27:

big wickets getting hayden and martin early.

GO ENGLAND!!

ponting is again the key for either team.

hoggard bowling absolutely brilliant!!

In fairness Warne just kept throwing them outside leg from around the wicket. Not much else they could do with that type bowling

I think the lack of a viable 5th bowling option really hurt us. Once they got on top of 2 bowlers (and with Lee ho hum at the moment) we were always going to be in trouble. I suppose we've been lucky in that recently no teams have been good enough to take it to more than 1 bowler but England have shown that weakness. Good on them, they have played well this test so far

Posted by Ian on Dec-03-2006 02:44:

good stuff from england, ponting has had some lifelines but apart from that it's been good. Funny to hear ian healy having to come up with excuses too "it's a different pitch" was the main one. time for me to sleep though, and if i wake up later be able to watch more, if not, it's the highlights.

Posted by Philby on Dec-03-2006 09:21:

geez what the hell? haha
looks like a bit of a contest now hehe
great stuff from collingwood and pietersen, we could be in a bit of trouble tomorrow, i guess it will be a draw?

Posted by Philby on Dec-05-2006 02:07:

haha! england 5/78 with a lead of around 110! looking very interesting....

Posted by Paulie on Dec-05-2006 03:25:
