Pretty sweet race, the fist part was very exciting. Awesome work by Heidfeld, and finally some points for Kubica

Good race today!
Alonso, Kimi and Hamilton are all tied for 1st overall.
DC had a great drive! Good for him. He and the team deserve a good result. Heidfeld and Trulli also did well.
WTF was Davidson doing when his car lost the smoke?!?!? He drove for half a lap misting the circuit (and Hamilton) in oil and bits of engine internals. Stupid. Lose the smoke, PULL THE FUCK OVER!!!
Once again, Hamilton had fastest lap until Massa's in-lap for his 2nd pit stop. This kid is gonna be good...
I didn't make it Scallywags because they were starting the race 30min late, so I had to watch an internet stream from China
Interesting race. I am so happy that BMW is doing well, ever since they came in with Williams, I have been rooting for them.
What was with Alanso and Kimi today? They both looked slow, or uncompetitive. I know Alanso complained about both under steer and over steer, so I guess he just set his car up wrong. He was soundly beaten by his team mate who had never seen the circuit, amazing!
I guess I really do have to give more credit to Massa...but I just dont like the guy!
I think Massa caught a break when Hamilton's 2nd set of tires were obviously not working as well as his first. He dropped 3 seconds within a couple laps and only was catching back up at the end, when Massa was no doubt cruising a bit to preserve the motor for the next race.
Alonso was holding up Kimi and couldn't catch Heidfeld at the end. You could tell that he wasn't really givin'er this race when he was pretty slow into his pit box. He didn't attack it at all as if he was trying to save 1/10ths.
I'm surprised McLaren let Hamilton push as fast as he was at the end of the race. There was traces of blue smoke from his car all race, usually under heavy downshifts at the end of the front straight. Hopefully everything will be fine for next race.
yeehah alonso 5th
I'm just happy my boys at Bimmer are doing well again. Last time anything they had a hand in was doing anything on this level was in 02&03 before Williams decided to use that retarded walrus nose and JPM left. I just hope Nick gets a couple podiums before the year is out.
haven't managed to watch the races yet but that Hamliton seems amazing !!

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but the BMW fan appreciation day was saturday out at Nurburg. They let Heidfeld out onto the Nordschleife in his F1.07 which is the first time an F1 car has been on that part of the track since the GP in 1976 when Niki Lauda wrecked and got torched really bad.

i can't wait till spain
yeah, Heidfeld's fastest lap was an 8:34ish
not particularly fast (record is 6:28 from memory - Porsche 956, some road cars do sub 8's) but then he would have been easing it around carefully - and understandably so.
Dunno how well the car would have liked some of the bumps too.........
I hate these mid-season breaks
testing news

| It was all eyes on McLaren at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya on Monday morning, as the championship leaders began testing with a radical new front wing design. If successful, it could make its race debut at next month’s Spanish Grand Prix. Several teams have already been running additional planes on their front wings this season, connecting the wing’s endplates to the nosecone. McLaren have taken this one step further, with a single additional plane spanning right across the top of the nose from one endplate to the other. The wing is proof of just how hard McLaren are pushing with the development of the MP4-22, which has already notched up one win and a further four podiums this season in the hands of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. With an unprecedented four-week break between the Bahrain and Spanish rounds, McLaren have taken full advantage of the extra time to work on new parts back at their UK factory. The Mercedes-powered team were also busy carrying out straight-line aerodynamic testing in Menorca last week. |

His car only went so fast because he ran out of gearing on the back straight. Also, they pussied out and set his car high & soft. Con't really balme them for a demonstration run though.
The Radical SR3 ProSport currently holds the record I think...something around 6:30.
in a couple months, I'll have my own time around the ring to post for you bitches

That would be crazy in one of the new V8 Radicals. I would be worried about it catching air and bottoming out. Some of the crests have really weird chamber to them that makes cars land funky if you leave the ground, and it doesn't help any that a couple of them are in really fast sections of the track. A car that light and powerful would be a beast to handle. It would be absolutely thrilling though.
I read somewhere that the Nordschleiffe lap record is by (the late) Stefan Bellof on one of those early 80s sport prototypes cars. Something like 6:11 or 6:13

Agreed, it's Bell in the Porsche.
Radical SR8 holds the "road car" record now I think. Grabbed it back from a Radical SR3 ProSport and before that it was a Dutch Donkevoort Lotus 7 style thing that had it.
I'm planning a trip to the 'Ring this summer. I will be damn careful over Flugplatz and into Adenauer since that's where I used to shunt it in GT4
