like when tiesto plays Marc Houle - bay of figs or when Reinhard Voigt Supertiel is onthe nyana cd. its only music...

This is a bad way of thinking, in my opinion. Just because we as the general listeners know them because of a specific genre they spin doesn't mean that they can't play what they enjoy. They are human too and one day may wake up and say, "I wanna play some deep house in my set tonight because there are some great tracks out there that I really like."

Stop building a wall around everything you do and you may not end up so dissapointed with very small things in life, like whether your favorite known trance dj dropped a minimal track in their set.

Like all trendy genres of this nature, it should fade away in another year, two tops. By then, most everyone will have tired of 'playing with their laptops'.

LOL Everyone will get tired of watching DJs check their email. I can't stand minimal.

So according to 'the elitists', a lot of what people actually listen to and call minimal, isn't actually minimal at all? Does Minimal even exist

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on May-03-2007 22:54:

i listen to music. i have no time to get into details of subgenres...it is fairly subjective i think.

I fail to see how explaining that Gui Boratto is not minimal means minimal doesn't exist. There have been plenty of good examples in this thread.

well silence is minimal

right. i implied fairly... one track may sound house-y to me and it may sound pop-ish to another. i've seen countless posts on here debating about tracks and subgenres and it just seems like a headache.

The only good minimal i know of is steve reich (ok ...and maybe john adams and philip glass when i am in a groovy mood!). Different trains, electric counterpoint, tehilim, music for 18 musicians are all great!
a typically good youtube "reich moment"

steve reich- "eight lines"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuJC...related&search=

The rest is trash/. Ok...maybe some old basic channel stuff are also cool. The clicks and glitch and the majority of current minimal are a bunch of plain terrible brainless, soulless, purposeless, musicless (i don't think that such a word exists)pretentious knob twisting and messing non-sense sequences of noises . Pure garbage.

Exactly that track is minimal (waits for Elitest f*cktard to say its not). Yah so uninformed folks would say Gui Borrato doesnt make any minimal music.

And i clearly said i like the way Gui Borrato does minimal, didnt say that hes the benchmark of Minimal music. But the minimal elements he incorporates is good, which is what seperates him along with the rest of the artists I named from the avg producer.

Listen to his remix of Monoroom...its sick.

no, no, no dont stumble over your words now, your post clearly sent out the message. You implied that boratto was a mnml producer and thats it which obviously sold out that you know jack about jack of edm.

Joy. One of the elitest is back in this thread.

Do me a favor Go back to Page 2 and see where I specifically said I like some of the minimal that :list of artists: make. Find me a single artist in my list that doesnt have a minimal track. And Where did I say Gui Borrato is solely teh L33t Minimal producer. Your reading comprehension blows balls. But Thanks for showing me the light that I dont know about EDM. Mr L33t EDM Master (fart noise). I should give up producing EDM too

Even better: why would you be caring about what the fucking clown behind the decks is doing as long as the music is good?
