make ones urself, the beep thing is real easy, the "shooting stars" are more complex, u can also record things for that, like a xilophon or something and edit it to make it sound good...

Posted by omega on Nov-21-2002 21:43:

a lot of times that "shooting star" sound is made with a cymbal crash...

Take 2 copies of the same one, cut off the attack, so only the tail is left, reverse one, and put them back to back. You can put cool effects on it like phaser or pan it around.

If you want a synthesized sound, grab ahold of a sample, or preferably something that will give you a good detuned saw type pad. Make the note long. Slap a filter on the amplitude, with a long attack, no decay or sustain, and tailor the release to taste.

I know this doesn't really count.... but I have a Korg Triton that's got some pretty nice trance sounds on it. I'd be quite happy to sort some samples out if anyone's interested. If you use Reason to manipulate 'em you can get some very nice sounds

username: music5/jff
password:korg

help yourselves.

I only had room for the one patch (Big Sweep), so I'll put a different one up next week or something. probably some strings & sound effects..

It's split into 4 wma files..

isnt it kinda the same thing as a fairy dusts sound or a sparkly sound with mod on the pitch, sort of a swoosh, maby...

here's a short sample of a rank1-like pad.
SuperPad v1.1

all i used was fruityloops, 6 instances of the build-in 3xOSC, and some of the fruityloops fx-plugins.
any1 got some other examples of his/her work?

wow... great jobs with the synths cyrus...
i was wondering if u could post a .flp file of that up...

heh... i don't feel like he is going to give that flp to everybody... it's just like professional secrets. you must understand that...

but, that synth is awesome, i agree with you. maybe he can post wav files for it...

peace

right, i think i have to keep some secrets
but i will upload a sample pack to the ftp.

PS: it would be nice if some other people would upload their stuff, too.

Posted by mantisnl on Dec-05-2002 21:05:

yeh right.. if i could finally get some acces 2 it

Posted by J.L. on Dec-06-2002 03:50:

ok... here's my attempt to recreate the synths in superstrings - cygnus x (rank 1 remix)... i made it using exclusively fruity loops with only 3xosc and several of the plugin fx

right click save as and it should work...
if not try copying the URL

the lows are really disturbing me, try removing them, its fine, but this is simple synthsis, y wont u create something more challanging?
for example, try to re create the main theme from lethal industry, it gave me a headache just to try it, so i just made some manipulations with a sample of the original...

Posted by Robert on Dec-06-2002 14:45:

something challenging? that lethal industry is an access virus preset. why would you want to exactly copy it anyway??

Posted by Loren on Dec-06-2002 18:36:

Smoking ..umm..something

Sounds good to me..

Posted by J.L. on Dec-06-2002 23:29:

yeah... i'm not that good...
rank 1 synths are usually not that hard to make...
just layer a bunch of other synths over each other to get that big sound you hear from his tracks..

cos i recently did a remix of this track, and tried to do the same sound, cos i didnt had a sample, but eventually i cutted one from the source, anyway, i just wanted to do an interesting sound, anyway, more interesting then just a big strings or something like that...

Posted by Drazzic on Dec-10-2002 13:27:

Is that refill coming or not? Well I really hope that. I have one tip/trick for you. This can be used very good at basslines I guess.

Use 2 delays, one panned complety to the left and the other to the right. And so you get a real nice stereo effect.

Small but I think a good tip
Btw great forum!

No...we decided to put the sounds on the production ftp.

The Reason RFL format uses a special method of reducing information in wav data, which results a quality loss compareable to a wav mp3-160Kbit conversion. I didn't know this for a long time until I read it in a German forum and a German synthie magazine...

As a reason for this we publish only wav files with corresponding rns files ( although one or two of us made some good sub patches available on the ftp )...
