When the most exciting plays are flops, blatant take-downs, & layups, it's hard for anyone but homers to watch.

So anyway, of all the dynasties in Pro Basketball my favorite one is the Spurs.

Oh, and I miss Grandmama commercials also.

no, the media market has nothing to do with it. I know you don't frequent the sports forum, but it's full of my rants about the BS from ESPN and others about just covering the teams they care about.

Which all happen to be big market teams

Posted by Zild on Sep-17-2007 19:59:

The Spurs are a dynasty damnit! Leave Britney Spears alone!

Posted by davemolina on Sep-17-2007 20:00:

No one has mentioned them yet, but The San Antonio Spurs are clearly my favorite NBA dynasty of all time.

Posted by Zild on Sep-17-2007 20:08:

Grandmama commercials were the shit.

Posted by maddraver on Sep-17-2007 21:31:

Smoking ..umm..something

Spurs are a dynasty ! just like Eva Longoria is so fucking hot!

Posted by Zeonfiend on Sep-17-2007 22:43:

Would this be a bad time to mention that basketball is a game for gangsters and pussies?

most of them. It's more a function of location & history than the size of the market. For instance, only NY gets more coverage than Boston, despite the fact that Dallas, San Francisco, LA, Philly, & Chicago all have bigger markets than MA.

Posted by shaw on Sep-18-2007 00:25:

also, I love the fact that you're calling it the 'greatest contemporary dynasty,' when, in the middle of their run, ANOTHER TEAM won 3 titles in a row, and made it to the finals again in that same 5-year stretch. Yes. Such domination.

there are only 3 teams that have had dynasties in the NBA--the Lakers, Celtics, & Bulls. No, you can't join the club.

Posted by Zild on Sep-18-2007 00:38:

I can understand if you said only Celtics and Lakers were dynasties because they both have like 10+ championships, but if you throw the Bulls in there with only 6 why can't the Spurs be there with 4 + however many they are still going to win here soon.

Posted by davemolina on Sep-18-2007 01:00:

Someone mention the Spurs? Aren't they that newly-crowned dynasty?

Posted by Rememberence_ on Sep-18-2007 01:11:

And the Lamest Discussion Evar award goes to... *drumroll*

*pause*

"what constitutes an NBA dynasty"

because it's taken the spurs longer to get their 4 (including one from a strike-shortened season) than it took the Bulls to get 6, they've never won in back-to-back years, and they have never been truly dominant. Please see the statistics from the last page.

Last time I checked, we didn't have any time machines lying around, so unless you got ahold of one of those contraptions, you can't mark them down for any more yet.

this really is the worst thread ever

Yes yes they are the newly crowned dynasty.

Posted by shaw on Sep-18-2007 13:17:

you must have a lot of spare crowns lying around if you're just tossing them to everybody who wins a title. Can the Marlins get one of those? I know the Ravens probably want one, too.

Posted by davemolina on Sep-18-2007 17:18:
