Celtic shoudn't have tried playing out of defence so much, in such tight situations. They didn't deserve to win, but could have if people such as Caldwell didn't have false allusions that they can play football (as in not just be a big central -hoof-it- defender). lol

It's not looking good but there's a chance to recover at home.

As bad results can be, that one ain't that bad... and I think Porto has (overall) a better team than Schalke. If on form.

Just saw the madrid game... it was very nice.,... roben needs to learn to pass the ball but had a good game. i felt we played better than roma and they still beat us... oh well

I'm an Arsenal fan.

I sighed in relief when I heard about the result against AC Milan.

Glad we didn't lose..

Arsenal are in a fragile state of mind going into Milan. They drew their last two games, don't have Eduardo and are still hit with injuries. However, maybe this game will we the Walcott's Italian breakout party. He's finally starting to emerge with his flashes of brilliance.

Man United should finish the job against Lyon, but it's not a gimmie. Lyon with their stud striker Bezema are never an easy side to deal with.

Celtic is done. I don't see them winning by 2 goals at Barca, plus 3 away goals by Barca really hurts.

Fenerbache v. Sevilla...I still don't know anyone who cares about this match

whoever plays either in the next round.

My brother is over in barca just now for this game - ****.

Anyway. Celtic will win 2-0.

FABREGAS!

w00t!

United dominated the first half, then went to sleep after they scored the goal. I'll take the win and the advancement

As I shed a tear for the end of the ancelotti/milan era, i salute one of the best footballing sides in the world right now in arsenal. Their manager is a clown, but they played excellently at the hardest away ground in europe, and to think how young there side still is, it's quite frightening how good they could become.

Posted by Intuition on Mar-04-2008 22:52:

Ugh, inability to put the game away and three very poor penalties let Fener get back into this and cost Sevilla tonight. Barca's goal was a thing of beauty, I don't even know where to start. Man United, industrious as always. And hats off to Arsenal to do what they did in Milan is unbelievable, especially with AC's record in the competition in the past few years. Eyes on Liverpool and Real tomorrow, as Chelsea should be fine, and I couldn't care less between Porto and Schalke.

The odd thing about Arsenal is that they don't even have a "wow" player, sure Fabregas is the playmaker and Adebayor the usual goalscorer, but their strength is clearly in the way all the players fit together, it's about the team.

Fabregas' goal was awesome.

Fenerbahe confirms that they are the surprise of this years competition, first time a turkish team reaches the quarter-finals. The goalkeeper fucked up big time during the game then went on to defend three of the penalty kicks.

Isn't that just typical of the way football is. I had a feeling he would end up the hero after some bizarre goalkeeping early in the match.

man a few treadmills here and there in Italy wouldnt do them any harm ... maybe my memory fails me but i cant recall any italian in recent memory who would be considered fast ... arsenal proved it today by running AC Milan ragged .. walcott looked like he could outpace maldini on one leg

i doubt inter will be able to overcome a 2 goal deficit tomorrow against the pool... i really hope im jinxing myself but i can totally see Inter coming out and playing like its them who are defending the lead so it looks like there will be 4 english teams in the quarter finals and michel platini will have new reason to bitch on thursday about how action needs to be taken to curb the insane amount of cash in english football

did you just seriously compare speed between an 18 year old winger and a 39 year old defender?

Posted by liverpoolken on Mar-05-2008 00:02:

thierry henry's behaviour in this tie was a disgrace. he continues to tarnish his reputation.

lets take a quote out of soccernets commentary

So now we've got 18-year-old Theo Walcott up against 39-year-old Paolo Maldini. Raw pace against a seasoned veteran. Intruiging

If you are going to tell a 39 year old to defend an 18 year old , then yes i would assume he would be able to keep him at bay

we're not talking about experience. just speed. and i should think walcott would take on a lot of 39 yr olds.

true

Perhaps maldini was the wrong example to give to highlight my point which was that italian footballers have historically not been the fastest of the lot.

You could probably pick any player in the Milan squad and say that they could not keep up with most of the Arsenal players .. guess the Italian style of football isnt suited for speed

any italian player? true. their game is not built on speed. just strong tactical defense and proper counter-attack distribution (mostly via longball).

however milan does have Kaladze and he is fucking awesome

Posted by nchs09 on Mar-05-2008 06:01:

The arsenal game was just w0w.....

The only other game i saw was the barca game and that was shit.

Tomorrow REAL MADRID

Shattered Hats off and all credit to Arsenal for their breath-taking sublime football and knocking out the champions of europe. This is the team that everyone SHOULD fear, if our experienced defence could not cope I can't even begin to imagine what Arsenal would do to the other teams. They had us covered well in most areas and Kalac's attempt to save Fabregas' goal was piss poor. I am dissapointed and sad for how Milan have become, a massive overhaul is a necessity in order to compete with excellent teams such as Arsenal.

Best wishes to Arsenal- The European cup awaits you in Moscow.

Posted by TheVrk on Mar-05-2008 08:17:

As a Milanese, i'm sad to see us go out so early, but i have no problem with losing to Arsenal.
At least it wasnt to the ManU scum or Chelsea.

Its time..its time for Ancelotti to go and to FINALLY get a real striker among other things.
Ambrosini CANNOT start anymore...i respect him and the honour code Milan follows, but
you cant have Gattuso AND Ambrosini starting..there're just not enough ppl who know how to do something with the ball on the pitch.

Bring on Lippi!

Posted by denys envy on Mar-05-2008 15:09:

pato is a real striker, just need a year or two under his belt. once he learns the game, he has enough raw talent to dominate just as Sheva and Bierhoff once did.
