i listened to the set. no the beatmatching is not perfect, but that is the least important thing that makes a great dj if you ask me. the chinstrokers in the crowd (mostly crap wannabe djs that talk shit) are the ones who listen intently for transitions and care.

it flows very nicely, and the end result is a great set so far from what is revelead anyway. loved the REM remix and cutting the volume for the crowd to sing. he's a great dj and always has been.

on the same token i will yell at him "who gives a fuck someone recorded you! woopdee fukn doo!", but that has absolutely nothing to do with how well he plays as a dj.

It doesn't take a plumber to identify a turd.

That makes 99% of all opinions worthless then.

Why the fuck should your opinion matter more than someone else's? You like the set and you dont care about shoddy beatmatching, whoopdee-fukn-doo for you.

You dont care about beatmatching because you're not a DJ and you don't realise how fucking simple it is. The reason the "wannabe DJ's" as you call them do critique is because they actually can and do beatmatch and put effort into their mixing.

Newsflash: DJ's play other people's music. Theres nothing to learn other than when to press play. Peter Hook can rock a dance floor playing a pre-recorded CD and doing the jesus pose, does that make him rellevant to anything? No, it doesn't.

If only you knew how thin the line between "wannabe" and "pro dj" really was...

in their opinion he doesnt rock the dance floor, what does that have to do with knowning how to dj?

That just made me completely disregard everything you've said and will say.

unbelevable.....
I just don't understand it, this is the only time I have ever heard so much hate for this guy, this almost sounds like a Tiesto thread??.DT is generally known as the DJ's DJ, Cox,Howells,Digweed all suck his cock, but yet he gets zero respect here???

I dunno maybe the set posted(haven't listend to it)was a bad night??

So, if a club goes behind his back with a hi-fi recording, if he doesn't react this way, other clubs won't take him seriously about that issue, which he's been consisten about for years.

If you think he's a diva, you haven't seem some of the other older house DJs in New York, but that's another issue. To a diva, any sort of attention is good attention. Most of you probably don't even know that most of the legendary house DJs in New York have been gay, so this divalicious response should come as no surprise. You take it with a grain of salt; if you see DT in the right venue with the right crowd, it could be one of the best nights of your life, guaranteed.

I understand why you're pissed, I'm sure you're a big House fan and to see this kind of bashing towards Danny should just be brushed off. You really have no point and the fact that the majority of the N.Y. House djs are gay or bi, has nothing to do with it. Even though he had a right to be pissed that his set was recorded without his permission, he shouldn't have bitched about it so much, even though he's a homosexual and it's in his nature.
He should've just handled it with his lawyer since it was a breach of contract.

He's a good DJ and he has played legendary sets and nights, but his attitude as evidenced by this episode and a host of others in recent times have really changed my opinion of him. I never really knew much about DT, but I heard alot of hype, and after seeing him, I thought he was good but nothing legendary. I've seen Howells play far better sets (imo), sans the "I'm the jesus of EDM" attitude.

If you're going to get upset about your set being recorded, the only classy thing to do is toss the venue's equipment in a swimming pool.

i dont dj? ok. of course beatmatching is important, but just about every dork wannabe dj on the internet, thats you, rjt, rebel9 and you others that talk shit on this forum EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE, are grrrreat at making seamless mixes. however they're also boring/chill as fuck and dont make you dance, they just make you zone out. you focus so much on beatmatching you forget to be a dj. hell you guys mix better than sasha or paul van dyk. great you've mastered that smmmmmall smalll aspect of this type of dj'ing (not all dj'ing involves beatmatching), now move on to other more important things, like finding good music that most people want to hear and can get into, being a dj means more than beatmatching a bunch of "tracks" that you find on the internet that YOU are into.

this DT rant is on 2 other forums, and on those forums they both say he's overreacting, he's a crybaby etc, but they also say he's still and always has been a great dj. but leave it to tranceforums for me to come here and see the same topic with the same reactions but with the difference is people saying he sucks as a dj. that's just pathetic and immature when it comes from people that post boring dj sets so yea i am going to call you out on it.

Posted by RJT on Sep-14-2007 14:55:

So because you don't like it, we're automatically bad DJ's?

Welp, better cancel my bookings for the fall - had I known that no-one wanted to hear it, I'd have never taken them in the first place.

I get it... no one is allowed to have different views to you!

As for this DT set, I had to adjust the volume on my mp3 player many times because the levels were terrible, beatmatching was sloppy at times and track selection was ok, but nothing spectacular. Not to mention his 'tricks' sounded mostly off and made the set sound awkward in general.

That's just my opinion. If you like trainwrecks in mixing, hey, good for you. Might as well just hire a monkey to put in cds because for most people, occassional slip ups in transitions is acceptable, but really noticeable ones multiple times is just sloppy.

A good mixing without a good track selection is worth nothing I agree, but most of us hold a PROFESSIONAL DJ to a minimum standard of technical skills, which generally incl. consistent mixing.

Don't get too excited they use ableton, it beat matches for you, however i don't believe there is anything wrong with ableton for recording sets i just cannot stand to see dj's using it in clubs boring as hell for me..

Also about beatmatching being so easy and unimportant that's bs, it does take a good ammount of skill to keep every single mix ferfect and tight while the programming, eq, set structure, and creativity being tight as well.

Yeah, I guess that when people like Bas, Clovis, RJT and the rest of the "crybaby DJs" are consistently being booked to play out, that means they don't know how to rock a crowd.

And yeah, I guess all of those photos of Bas, Clovis, RJT and the rest using CDJs in a club, or the promo mixes that are clearly on CDJs must mean that they use Ableton all the time.

Fuck me, Stevesto doesn't like what I play. I must be shite. I'm going to have to go along with RJT and cancel my bookings as well. It's been a good ride ...
