There's no way that amount of money needs to be made, especially on a night that Armin happens to play the worst set I've ever heard him play...

Going to Pacha has become more and more and more "aggravating"... That word describes it all... And Pacha, get a new events/email-blast contact info collector around the coat check area, the guy you have is consistently an asshole, and it seems like he hates his life and wants to die.

I second that, biggest waste of $47 indeed. besides the massive overcrowding, armin played the worst set I've heard from him in a while. enough with 'big sky', 'falling' and all that crap, those trax have been overplayed all year long. surprisingly, last time armin played at pacha in mar or april 07 it wasn't anywhere crowded like this. but then again there was a blizzard raging that night. so it seems he's escalated to pvd/tiesto status since then.
anyway, made has lost another loyal customer cause there's no way I'll go see armin at pacha again, that's for certain.
speaking of coatcheck stories-what's with the girl who takes your $5 and tosses your dollar into the tip basket without so much as a second glance at you. tips are meant to be given, not taken, even though it's just a buck.

and yes, made are shameless moneygrubbers..

true, man, we should consider ourselves lucky to have those twilo memories to cherish. many aren't that fortunate. I have about 4GB of my brain's memory for Twilo Night Storage (includes sasha & digweed, pvd nights)

Quite frankly I am sick of reading everyone hate on MADE!!! They had nothing to do with the over-selling, it was Pacha!!! Made didn't even know that Pacha changed the VIP prices for everyone. PACHA saw the chance to make money off of Armin now that he is #1 and they went for it.

Made brings us some quality parties and are left with few large venues to bring someone as big as Armin too. Also keep in mind when this event was booked Armin wasn't #1!!! and even when he became #1 did Made go and jack up there prices that day NO but pacha did!!!

The entire club should have been open for Armin as advertised but again, Pacha wants to make themselves seem so cool they over packed it to make the dance floor look like the place to be. If you guys know of other venues to use in the city let Made know, they will listen to you!!!!

The ironic part is the people in VIP seemed to be more into the music and knew more about it then any of the jerks on the floor!!! Guess if you really want to hear someone you make the choice to spend a little more money and enjoy yourself then bitch about how awful it was. If anyone thought they were going to walk into Pacha and have room to move on the main floor they are crazy!!!

Posted by DJ Eco on Nov-12-2007 19:05:

With all due respect... Every dollar from advanced tickets goes to Made, they (as with every promoter) can track exactly how many are sold, especially in this case where there weren't any subpromoters (like Gerard) selling hard copies, all online sales... When they advertise "limited amount of $25 advanced tickets", it's understandable that they go up to $30 or $35 as you get closer to the event... But they went up to $30, and then $40, and then if you got them at the door forget it.... It's all on Made, their cashiers are the only ones working those nights, all door money goes to the promoter involved (unless it's a jointly-thrown party like Stimulus>Response or several other parties they have there), but the unique thing about Made & co. is that they ARE famous for having everything under their control, no matter what venue... So when something goes great, they deserve the claps and thumbs up, but when something goes bad, they better accept the boos... Out of everything, the only thing that wasn't under Made's control was the VIP table situation, but that was a situation that affected a few people on this board, compared to the overcrowdedness and shitty dancing conditions which affected the 1000+ overcrowded people that shouldn't have been let in due to capacity issues...

Not really... I think the general attitude for someone who's comfy at their table with tons of liquor is a more positive one, as looking at the downstairs folk and their struggle to breathe lol... I was surrounded by people who knew damn well about their music and how bad that night's set was... If anything, it's interesting (and common sense) that the people at the tables are the ones who have the most positive reviews... Having experienced one of the most crowded parties in my LIFE this past Friday, would I spend a hundred dollars with my friends and get a table next time? NO! I still think it's not worth it... Many of the "jerks on the floor" (no offense taken, just explaining) were people like me, my friends, and at least a thousand true trance listeners who either sucked it up and said "Hmm pretty decent party" or saw it for what it really was, an overhyped sweatbox that we won't pay prices like that to go to anymore...

And with all due respect, maybe not so with the TAs' table that night, but the usual clientele that gets tables for parties like this is the exact opposite of the "music-lovers" as you said, so I have to really disagree, no need in generalizing based on one or two tables around you out of 100s that Pacha books per night.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Nov-12-2007 19:20:

i think when all is said and done (and its been stated on this thread already as in others numerous times) is that the scene (and the crowds which attends these parties) are definitely not the same as they were in the past, and unfortunately, may never be. Organizing and throwing parties *IS* ,in the end, a business, and out to make a profit or to break even so that you can establish your brand and reputation and be able to book more parties, bring in more ppl etc. It's necessary to strategize and do whatever it takes within the market to stay afloat/profit/attract and retain customers. Of course, the definition and/or importance of creating balance between those factors will differ to everyone depending on where their priorities and objectives lie. The *ideal* situation WOULD be to create the best environment possible without having to "push" everyone toward VIP. Unfortunately this seems to be happening right now esp at PACHA and its too bad. Great for business but it SUCKS for the attendees. Of course theres a hella lot more to say on this topic and many more viewpoints. not here to create an argument, just my $.02 on it.

i personally look fwd to a much *BETTER* night and vibe overall at TGE

WORD. ^^

Posted by djquick83 on Nov-12-2007 19:29:

I hate to say it, but I aint a VIP type of clubber and will never resort to it, even if i had the funds etc. Thats a piss poor excuse to use for those who weren't on the dancefloor and had a great time. But yea, as Eco mentioned, MADE gets door. END OF STORY. Pacha has bar and thats their thing whatever. Point is, its a business thing and none of these reviews will affect anything MADE does in the end, except use ure input to get more $$$ in the future. Those days of paying $20 to hear a DJ rock out a dingy little club (that nobody could find unless they knew about it) in Tribeca for 12hrs are long over. For those that experienced it, know about what Im talkin about. And those that havent won't and will still continue to make it out to these parties given they have a different expectation of what clubbing was/should be. Diff Generation of music I guess. Times change and so do ppl., whether it be clubbers or those that run them. Everybody will tell u THOSE WERE THE DAYS and this has some truth to it in the end.

BWHAHAHA...so where are the 100 tables??

I walked through the VIP a couple of times and there were more TA's up there then I think on the floor, so I guess just hate on us for doing it this one time. You guys are bitching about something that is to be quite expected a packed dance floor on a friday night.

As for those of you there weren't there and are trying to give advice, comments, whatever your voice means little to me since you weren't there for the night.

Gotta love the way its always a contest as to who is the most dedicated in the EDM scene.

I agree with you except this point. I am in VIP often, and I have met a lot of great people, both new and old to the scene, who are really interested in the music and just wanna get away from the ridiculousness that is the floor. Its hard to enjoy yourself when you are getting molested, shoved, elbowed, sweat on, etc.

The scene def has changed, and not necessarily for the better. The music is becoming more and more popular, which just begs for a shitshow on the floor when people like armin come to town. I hate coming to watch armin now.....I either have to dish out dough or deal with the concequences. I personally had a fuckin great time, but, again, I was seriously concerned about the safety of the people on the floor throughout the evening

Noone's hating on you! lol You made it a contest when you called the people on the floors "jerks" LOL... Sorry but 30 people on TA doesn't represent the entire trance-loving community of New York, those "jerks" may know a lot more than you think.... And up until the last few big-DJ parties, those "jerks" on the floor were most TAs, as the initiative to get tables is only a recent thing... Expecting a packed house is one thing, but when you have Pacha regulars saying that it's more packed than any JP party they've ever seen, you know something's wrong, and you know the fire marshal could shut it down any minute, ever think of that?

Last time I checked, this was a review thread, so don't tell people not to voice their complaints and bad reviews, simply because you had a great time in VIP, and we're dopes for not spending a few hundred.

WOW!!! down there boy!!! Did I call you a "Jerk" directly? NO!!

So everyone was everyone just wonderful on the floor then??

And gee I never thought that the fire marshal could shut the place down. Thanks for pointing that out, my my in my old age common sense has just seemed to slipped away

I agree something was wrong that night. I personally looked into the crowd a number of times and thought back to the Carl Cox shootings and thought Jesus that could happen here tonight. My point is the blame is not all on Made as a lot of people have made it out to be. Pacha was just as much to blame, if not more so.

I didn't want to feel like I had to get VIP but I knew how the event was going to be and make a educated choice to pay extra $$$ for more room, anyone could have done it. Just because you get VIP doesn't mean you don't know your music and as I said before why is always a contest with people in EDM as to who knows more or who is more dedicated. Its music, just enjoy it and chill out.

And you are more then welcome to your review but when half the people posting in the review thread weren't even at the party well that just grinds my gears

I'm not allowed to voice my opinion also?
