VANOS to simply put it... your a flamer.. a 9.956/10 ..

week after week reviews are started, and week after week the same 35 people talk about how they had the most amazing party the previous nite and in most cases that morning.. most of these reviews are way too long and over the top.. consistantly listing the nite as one of the best nites ever. im not going to negativly bash ne 1s view, i do find these over the top mini essays quite amusing... in fact after a weekend i will skim and provide myself with some daily humor ... fill in the blanks as to why these reviews are silly.. i think neone outside of the ones posting them can put 2n2 togeather...

now vanos... the humor u provided me with was quite different...reading that someone did not have a great time at these over the top events/reviews isnt the problem... i do believe you prolly didnt enjoy yourself ."000001/10??" .. however y come across in such a manner?... first..u validate yourself with how long you have been partying and how many djs you have seen???.. who cares.. ur dream, another who cares?.. trying to cover your idiotic comments with a "dont take this personal" is even better.. you then transform into your elitest persona, by pulling out your "define the genre of edm" Manual.. and go on a tangent about how ne thing other then techno is shit... maybe it is.. but y try piss poorly at labeling whatever it was DM or Z played... again this is you attempting to make your self look like well i dunno.. a purest? as u said later on.. .. basically

my understanding.. you had a bad time.. the music wasnt up ur ally.. you will hope for a better time at a further date.. that could of been ur post.. ..

i can somewhat block out and tollerate all the excitable tas who worship the djs, love every event and go on non n on with these crazy reviews... however people like u well you need to give your head a shake... ill save my detailed negative comments for myself as to what i think of you and where someone like you needs to go... ur a joke.. have fun at mark mendes.. maybe ill see u there jumping around avoiding the "cheeese.. long cheese break downs.. trancy feel.. breaks".. just great "hard n techy" stuff. its gotta be SICK RIGHT?.. havea good one .. peace

It may be... In fact I may agree with that in a certain context, but that would mean you're a joke too.

Ok this is the last one I promise...

You ppl make me feel like I constantly need to explain myself...

The music he was playing does not belong in that room is the main point I was trying to make...It's not just him...It's even the biggest names playing that way that makes me want to kick their asses out the door...THAT ROOM NEEDS FAST HARD BEATS...It HAS to pound...or it sucks...

As for technology...

Can you imagine if U2 all of a sudden dropped their instruments for a bunch of Mac's...

I'll put it like this...If they're a REALLY good DJ who doesn't mind EARNING the thousands that they get, then they'll actually mix tracks on 3 decks and still have the ability to add all kinds of effects on this and that and the other thing you nerds mentioned...

Part of watching a DJ show is watching the DJ himself...working his ass off for his money...not just playing with a mouse and tweaking a knob here and there...I could just go and sit in a corner and close my eyes and get that show...

It's just not enough for me...All this technology has taken over the art of the mix...You're all forgetting that the mix is what it's always been about...Or maybe you just haven't been around long enough to ever have seen it for yourself...

Haha, what? So because you want hard+fast beats, the DJ got it wrong? Playing hard and fast is an easy way out, an easy way to 'build' energy. It takes real skill to build a crowd with a lower BPM. I wish more DJs tried it, because its evident (and sometimes feels cheap) when a DJ just throws on a pounding song to build.

As for the comparison to U2...they play INSTRUMENTS not decks. If they started using computers instead of guitars, there should be public outrage. DJs mix, they do not strum.

if U2 switched to macs, their target audience would be totally different...

just like boy george, tommy lee etc (even if they suck as djs)

If a DJ is using Abelton to auto beat-match to two tracks then spends the rest of the time doing jesus-pose, then yes - they suck.

Now, if they are using the extra 'free time' to say - slice loops, isolate tracks, layer 3 or 4 or even more tracks together, trigger samples and other bits of trickery - then by all means, use Ableton.

You need to step out of the past - Digital DJing is still "DJing", and hell - its moving the DJ more from just a disk-jockey to more of a live-act *if* the DJ is leveraging the tools in new/unique/interesting ways.

But hey, dunno - I guess people like Richie Hawtin are not DJs and just hacks becuase they make heavy use of ableton?

Laptops / controllers / etc are becoming an increasingly needed tool in any "real" DJs set IMO - if all your doing is beatmatching two records then your being lazy.

Maybe you should check out Mutek sometime - you'll notice a trend of just about /everyone/ useing Laptops in their sets in some way and Vinyl is getting increasingly rare. You are not earning any "cred" by trying to come off as a vinyl purist. Ableton when used well can add a whole new level / layer to a good set.
