It must be tedious having such a critical ear!

Wow, such an insightful and intelligent addition to this discussion! Now, are there not some windows near by that you should be licking?

Really ? I read an interview not a while a ago and of course there was the habitual "OMG the maven is da bomb" part and he said that the machine was very relibale.

He used the Korg 8 during his Spring Tour while the Maven was being fixed. I think he's using the Maven again.

its not broken anymore, ive seen some footage of recent gigs

Posted by alf poland on Jul-02-2008 22:41:

wish it was still broken....its ruining his sets for me, fx and slow turnover of tracks from gig to gig

Posted by LoveHate on Jul-03-2008 06:32:

really tried to like this set, but its way to boring..

fir 15 minutes and the laft half were alright though..

Ok, I finally got to sit down and listen to this set.

It's unfortunate that John picked this cross section of this particular set to represent the Spring Club Tour.

I attended the Chicago show, and as a long time S&D fan(atic) it was up to par with just about every show I've heard them play in the past. It was absolutely massive.

There were only 3 songs from this set that they played in DC:

Just So U Know
2 Notes and a Beat
and another one I'm too lazy to go back and reference the TL

Just So U Know was the only track in Chicago that made me stop dancing. IMO it's hideous, though it served to shake things up during their Chicago gig and set the crowd up for the gorgeous track that was dropped after it.

The other track I didn't look up had the same effect.

Problem is with this selection from DC is that it's almost entirely bullshit like Just So U Know. Aside from the first half hour, the melodies are hideous or non-existant, the drums are boring, and so are the basslines.

Now, to S&D's credit, I'm quite sure that after dropping all of this terrible sounding stuff, they killed the place with huge tracks like Sasha's M83 remix and Guy J - Esperanza. And I'm sure that the contrast was effective.

The obvious problem with the radio show is that it doesn't give the listener the chance to experience that contrast, which is what all of those tracks were played for. Rather, the listener only hears the contrast against the candy that Sasha drops in the first 30 min - it only goes downhill from there, and that is simply not an enjoyable experience.

At the end of the radio show, John mentions that he will release another set from the Spring Tour. I think I'll send him and email encouraging the choice of Chicago, and to pick a cross section of the set that will make for a better listening experience.

I saw them on this tour. Sasha was on top form bangin' it out but Digweed played very mellow. He didn't even play the Gridlock remix, or anything remotely uplifting.

Becuase the show is Transitions with John Digweed, it will showcast the majority of his set than Sasha...so there's no real cross section.
