^^^^ what a fantasy world you guys live in, im sorry

Heres an experiment.

Go to CZ:
turn the music off, turn the lights on, and take a look around

Go to a bunch of other clubs:
turn the music off, turn the lights on, and take a look around

to the people who say there would be no difference in those 2 cases....

all i have to say is taht using the handle "ChemEnhanced" to defend comfort zone...

+ 1. WTF????? I've been in many a club when the lights come on and music goes off. it's never pretty anywhere. I've been in zone when lights come on and music goes off. Midday on a saturday I will add.. meh. I wasn't surrounded by Evil Dead extras or anything. People just looked tired. No more messed up than anywhere else. I've seen sloppier girls falling out of richmond st bars

Oh yeah... I was SOBER!!!! 100% waiting for my buddy to finish his set so we could go for a coffee.

I read this as: "Unlike all of the other clubs in the city, which try to maintain at least some air of dignity and professionalism, Zone is a total shithole and doesn't try to make it any better!"

I'm not saying they should shut it down, but seriously, come on guys, it's a dive. It's a convenient place to come down and escape from reality for another 6-12 hours on Sunday, but they do not have great acoustics, they do not have a wonderful crowd, and DJs do not play better there.

Footwork is unpretentious; Zone is a dodgy armpit.

ha, I thought that was a fucking great party. Freaks and geeks and techno and random lofts in the east end.

This was in response to Skipper saying that the Zone made college and spadina more dangerous (or 'sketchy')

I am familiar with the other sketch-contributors in the area. The zone is not the only one, you're right.
Unfortunately for the zone, people tend to see homeless shelters and addiction treatment as having more use in society than all day dance parties frequented by people who have been awake for an unnaturally long time.

So while I recognize the zone is not the only originator of sketch (and patrons do not always hop in a cab, especially on long weekend parties where there's a line out front, or it's busy and people are milling around on the street), you can't exactly argue that it has as much purpose as the homeless shelter does (although on weekends, it can sure seem like a homeless shelter)

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I am not pro-zone, I admit I have been there a few times and do like certain aspects of it, but overall it is a pretty big shithole. 1/3 of the patrons seem decent but the other 2/3 I could definitely do without!

However, I still dont think people from the Zone cause any trouble in the area, at least not outside the club.

What about me? i set foot in there once and never went back yet i defend its right to do business. Mainly because this mentality spreads into other areas of life if not kept in check

Skipper, id tell you to move to the countryside but then youd try to ban pesticides and cow manure because "it smells".

Let's acknowledge, for argument sake, that people party at Zone, and like every other club in the world, a couple people get out of hand. Let's accept that and put it to the side.

Comfort Zone is an experience in and of itself. Unlike all of the other clubs in the city, with their lights and VIPs and bottle service, Zone's a dark basement with black lights and great acoustics for bass. Just on face value, it's not like any other club in the city.

It becomes about the music. It's almost primal. As the cop said, "They're in the zone."

Zone does have a reputation. Rightfully so! It serves the purpose of keeping randoms out. If you're afraid of Zone, good, stay away, very far! LOL

Now picture you have this club in the city, that's not like every other club. A place where u could go on a Sunday morning, in your pajamas and dance your ass off with a bunch of your friends listening to your favorite DJs spin and experiment with their sickest beats. You almost forget it's a club and think of it as a club-house.

If CZ closese in the next couple of years it will be missed, and nothing that anybody says about that place will make us think differently about it.

cool post. im almost compelled to not hate it anymore.

ok that's going too far. She clearly explained her in case in detail a few posts above and i gotta say i agree with her about CZ kind of being another shelter home. I promoted there once a long time ago and talked to some of the partiers out on the street and they were weird and not normal.

Thank you...what I was trying to get across
You people may think the world of Zone but the rest of society does not and they tend to be the majority in such things.

If people don't want to see it shut down why aren't they being pro active and writing letters to the right people? Or lobbying against Zone being shut down? If it's so important to club goers surely they could try to do something to help keep it open vs bitching on a message board and doing nothing in real life.

Give it a rest already. I don't like the zone, that's it. I'm entitled to not like the zone.

you are right...you have every right not to like the zone....but what the issue has been has nothing to do with the zone. It has to do with wanting a legitamite business shut down because you don't like it....yes its being taken personally by some because its the ZONE...but that's not the case with Jayx1 or some others...like myself.

lol zone is a shithole.

And KaiLee is right, if you don't want it closed down, do something about it instead of bitching. But not too many people would because they have nothing to say about it that would convince "authorities" to keep it open.

They want it closed because of the open drug use, bottom line. Not because the music is too good for society.

I promised myself I wouldnt go there again a while back.. I was there this past Sunday morning, same shithole.

And someone said Deko-ze plays the best at cz,, lol wouldn't wanna hear him play his worst.
