*SIGH*

You see what I'm talking about? The friend I was referring to on my initial post that started this thread just sent out an email blast to about 100 people that says this:

quote:
Hello everyone! Hope this email finds you all doing great! Sorry for the delay in getting February's pictures out. *XXXXX* had her 9 month appointment last week and she continues to grow at a steady pace!

She weighed in at 21.1 lbs and is now 28.25 inches long which puts her in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. She is pulling up on EVERYTHING and we are getting used to her bumping her head on a daily basis! She got her first 2 teeth at the beginning of February but so far those are the only ones she has gotten.

She continues to bring so much joy to our lives and we love watching her learn new things everyday!!

Love, (names excluded)

This email comes to me and about 99 others every month... it includes updates on weight, length, and all kinds of other shit. The first couple of months, she was even reporting things beyond the "... her height and weight are in the 97th percentile and we are overjoyed" stuff.

I know they're excited to be first time parents, but JESUS! Nobody outside of her immediate family could possible care about these updates! Get back to me when she discovers a life saving cancer drug or something. Man, when will they get a clue? When!?

yea that's fuckin annoying. i love kids but that's annoying lol

Posted by The17sss on Mar-13-2009 00:33:

right on, Jamie. Are you the one who said it's not so much the kids, but the parents of the kids that you can't stand?

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-13-2009 00:36:

No, I said that.

edit: And I can't fucking stand women who act as if they're the first fucking person who ever gave birth. Fucking die.

I like where your head's at, Jenny

i do agree with you that the email is ridiculous but that's because your friend is nuts. someone needs to tell her to stop.

Posted by Dervish on Mar-13-2009 00:45:

I'd say yeah nice for a visit but 24/7... ahhhhhhhhhh lol.

No I'm sure if it's yours it'd be much easier to put up with.

But the baby talk thing is entirely required otherwise they'll never learn how to speak or even understand how to hear sounds properly.

Is quite funny to watch my dad who is quite the hard nut with a baby, baby talk all the time.

EDIT:Also that email is pretty mental lol!!!

Posted by Silky Johnson on Mar-13-2009 00:45:

I'd really like to work in labour and delivery, but I can see myself internally being very annoyed by the type of women who carry on excessively about their labour. Lol. Something to work on I suppose.

should I be the asshole who tells her, or should I go stealth style and send it from an anonymous email address? haha... I'd like to see a TA contest on exactly what to say to her so she gets the message.

Posted by Slylee on Mar-13-2009 00:47:

lol i love my niece and nephew but my sister is dispicable. she's fat and lazy and all she does is buy them shit, feed them shit and plop them in front of TV and then make excuses for being fat by saying things like, "i have 2 kids" or "wait till you have kids" (with an exasperated look on her face like she is wondermom). she makes me sick.

lol /rant
sorry i just got back from visiting them last weekend and she pisses me off. her kids are so smart and advanced for their age and it's a goddamn waste just raising them on spongebob and nascar. my niece is only 1 1/2 and she is already able to repeat any word you say without messing it up, she can look at a picture and then point to that person without you even asking...she just recognizes and watches everyone. i dunno maybe that's normal i dont have kids but it seems pretty advanced for being 1.

oh yea and they sleep in her bed with her husband too. i dont think my neice has slept one single night in her own bedroom since she was born. it's like what the fuck is my sister thinking? did she just wake up one day and say, "i think i'll have some kids and then do EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE THING you're NOT supposed to do when raising them"

Yeah, those are all normal/expected developmental milestones.

i thought the average kid starts talking at 2-3

Uh oh. I detect a high liklihood of not being able to leave the nest until age 35, and 50 phone calls a day from mom to the cell phone during the teenage years because "she's worried" and wants to know what they're doing.

for sure dude. it's not looking good i say that all the time to my mom. my nephew is gonna be a little fag mamma's boy or something. i really hope not though he is so funny and cool. you never know. there are a lot of kids who have some fucked up lazy parents and they end up at yale or something anyway...i have hope lol

Nah dude, by 15 months they should be able to use simple expressive language and say things like yes and no, and be able to recognize/ask for things by pointing to them. At 18 months they should have a vocabulary of about 10 words, and then by 24 months they should have about 300 words. Girls usually express language earlier than boys. But they catch up.

why don't you find out from her husband what he thinks of all this. he might be able to tell her nicely, he probably understands your feelings and probably thinks his wife is nuts. finding an ally is key...

that sounds bad. she's going to drive her husband and kids nuts when they get older.

yea but she is around 16 months i believe and she points to things and says "mommy look" and then my sister will say what it is and she'll just repeat it like nothing...gets it right the first time every time. and then later on she'll see it again and say the word. that's more like what i meant. is that still normal or a little advanced? i think it sounds pretty fuckin advanced for still being in diapers. but what do i know, i dont have kids lol

my mom said i was speaking full sentences at 2 and jumping off the diving board and swimming in a pool at 3.

Lol, no that's totally normal. Repetition is actually a huge part/good indicator of a child achieving their developmental milestone.

Like I said before not liking kids and not liking parents who emote over their kids are two entirely different things.

That email reminds me of a cousin of mine who every Christmas sends out a mass mailer to everyone. Its two pages, single spaced, typed, detailed report on how her wonderful family is doing.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-13-2009 01:40:

I imagine if the baby is your DNA writhing about it's pretty fascinating. But I don't really understand people being fascinated by other people's babies. Perhaps if you've had one of your own you can relate to them better, but people who've never had a child being really doting baffles me. These people are usually women too, whatever that means.
