the trance room i agree is very good the bookings are very good

but those kinds of party are falling far away from what these parties were intended to be and what they used to be

being commercial is not necessarily a good thing !!!

And plus how did igloofest get all these kids to come without david guetta ???

i went and it is by far the best organisation in mtl for electronic music the names were not as commercial and they still managed 4000 plus on average ... and this in the dead of winter

so the story of getting kids hooked is ok but if these kids start thinking that sexy bitch is what electronic music is all about them someday you will be stuck playing only those kinds of tracks and that would be a shame

kudos to piknik for keeping electronic music, alive kudos to circus and stereo as well

Opera may be dead, apparently, but will be brought back to life again in the house room. Bal en Giant nightclub. Will they be serving Grey Goose in the VIP section now?

Great for ticket sales but not so great for leaving a lasting impression with the n00bs. I remember newbies even saying how Guetta was the worse dj back in 2007, that's how bad he is.

Congrats to Etienne

I think it's the best trance line up ever...

Posted by Marcus007 on Feb-17-2010 23:36:

shoulda been king louis vs. etienne ozborne

and would u guys stop bitching about bal en blancs bookings... that's so 2005

it is a business to make money... that line up will attract all sorts of crowds but mainly the young crowd... PLZ UNDERSTAND THIS AND MOVE ALONG

Posted by Spin Laden on Feb-17-2010 23:59:

it is so bad this year the only ones defending that house room are the ones working for/with BeB

regarding Igloo, don't think it would get that size of crowd at $100 a pop.

I'm not defending Bal en Blanc, i'm not saying the lineup is good or bad, my point is that I understand where they're going with this

You can't compare igloofest + piknik with Bal En Blanc, they would never ever fill a 15000 people room with igloofests lineup. People go mostly because it's outdoors and it's something that doesn't happen anywhere else

kudos to Etienne indeed :-)

he deserves it a lot

Posted by OkiDokie on Feb-18-2010 02:50:

I agree with Louis, BeB are very smart, and they want to attract the younger crowd, so that the party lives for another 10 years.

I think they booked Guetta because is the only way they should bring people to the house room. I mean, with out him, there would be probably no one there.

Posted by corjay9 on Feb-18-2010 02:54:

Schedule works good for me.. I'll be in the house room for Romero, go grab some water and meet up with other people and get into the trance room when SVD starts and try to minimize listening to IM live LOL

Posted by malek on Feb-18-2010 03:43:

This is not to bash igloofest, but what kind of overhead does these guys really have?

Socit du Vieux Port, lends the spot for practically nothing or almost to the crew and all they have to do is setup some equipment and I'm sure part of it is paid for by sponsors... and they have many nights to tweak the formula. If you think about it, igloofest happened on more nights than Bal en Blanc!!

Bal en Blanc has to pay huge rent, and top tier djs and it all happens on a single night, no second chance.

Comparing igloofest and Bal en Blanc is not really fair to either.

Spin I don't understand what are you still doing in this thread???

Man, I'm in Vancouver right now and the 2010 edm lineup looks an awful lot like this one. If you don't do a gig soon I'll have nothing to look forward to when I come east again

Posted by Spin Laden on Feb-18-2010 05:24:

Kids usually start with trance and BeB has done a good job and then some with the trance room. They will leave with a lasting impression, that is for sure. That's all I'll say

Posted by dannyboyrm on Feb-18-2010 13:31:

BeB is like the Habs. Doesn't matter what players are on the ice, people keep buying tickets and the Bell Centre is always sold-out for every game. But we still keep bitching the team and Gainey and whatever.

Simple: Stop going to the games. Stop going to BeB.

I dunno, the Trance room is like Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin and the Sedin twins right now.

2% of the population honestly listens to trance.. maybe less. Out of that 2%, 1.9999999% listen to Ferry, Tiesto, AVB, A&B, etc.. No shit these guys are booked every year. It wouldn't be a massive if the line up was Seth Troxler and Danny Howells and Gareth Emery. 500 people would show up.

What ends up happening is, that 1.9999% of people tell their 5-6 friends that don't listen to trance, but are up for a good time, that AVB the best trance DJ is coming, and they come.. and repeat.

and comparing it to Igloofest is laughable.

5 hours of ana paula and david morales to finish = gay fiesta all the way!

Posted by 84th Ave. on Feb-18-2010 15:31:

I would rather go to church on Sunday then attend BEB this year

staying away from this

but i understand why BEB is doing this, so wtv, dont care

Posted by princesultan on Feb-18-2010 15:44:

yup, as already stated a million times, from a business perspective, it makes perfect sense.

i won't be stepping foot anywhere close to palais de congres this year.

A+

I'm not a David Guetta fan at all (he's a great person but I just don't like is music, personal taste) but just visit the Productions Playground page on Facebook and you'll see that the mainstream crowd loves him, we got to deal with it. It's a business for sure but we need to be aware of the new generation who are not all 450 or Ed Hardy douchbags.

I agree with Louis, Igloofest and BEB can't be compared. I'm a fan of both but they have nothing to do with each other.

Posted by Marcus007 on Feb-18-2010 16:54:

Kaskade
David Guetta
LMFAO

Will appease the younger generation

David Morales
Ana Paul

Will give the gays a reason to stay till the early morning when the kids clear out

Sander Van Doorn
Markus Schulz
Ferry Corsten

Will leave all the people unfamiliar with that style of music with a big on their faces...

The trance room is quite the allstar lineup. I'm happy they backed away from Armin this year. It was, after all, getting a little stale

true

but they get the same names that have appeared the last 2 years at BEB, like markus last yr, ferry two years ago, same with sander...only reason why they havent brought tiesto is cause he wants the spotlight on him doing his own shows

is there not any other names in trance that can attract a big crowd?

Posted by househead09 on Feb-18-2010 18:07:

ill probably end up just going to the after party with Victor Calderone at parking. The after partys at parking are amazing

Exactly my point. The Habs have 1 line that shows up to play most nights, the rest are just filler.
